I'm 5'6, 229pounds and I wear an 18, but I can get into a 16, and I think I'm almost done with my 18's. At my highest, I was 310, and wore a 24 and some 26's were in my closet.

Obsession Over The Scales
transforming jlaroux replied to cbreeden28's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I also weigh in daily. Every morning, naked, after using the bathroom and before eating. Sigh. The only way I allow it to affect my mood is regarding how I consume food that day. If its up, I'm even more careful than the day before. If its down, I do what I did the day before. I don't weigh my food, nor do I count calories. I eat what my band allows, which is 1/2c to 1 cup of food at a sitting. I try very hard to eat my protein first and then my veggies, and sometimes carbs. I don't always win that battle though. I stop when I'm full. I'm losing consistently about 2 pounds a week. Weigh in as you need to, but don't allow it to consume you. Use it as another tool, and just a tool, not your Bible! lol -

Be My Valentine Challenge
transforming jlaroux replied to larrypdot's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
227! I haven't seen this weight in over 10 years!!!!!! I love my band! I love these challenges! they keep my motivated. Thanks everyone! I HIT MY GOAL FOR THE MONTH!!!!!! See ya all in March's challenge! -
B-52, I agree with you!
-
My goal is 1/2 my weight. That's my big goal. But, I too, set little goals along the way. My first was 75 pounds. Now I'm working on 100 pounds before my 1 year bariversary. After that, I have 55 pounds left, and I'd like to get that off by Christmas 2012. I set my own goals, because my doctor only thought I'd lose about 50 pounds, and be done. I knew I would lose more than that, so I set out to prove him wrong. (check my ticker! lol) My ultimate Non scale victory is to get on the Hospitals boards all over town! 1/2 the weight, twice the life is their motto! There are 28 boards around where I live!

Any Suggestions For Liquid Diet???
transforming jlaroux replied to skin-e-girl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
add liquid Proteins to your diet. - Isopure is a good choice. Water is just not enough. The above poster is right! the Protein will help you feel full. ARe you on full liquids or just Clear Liquids? If you're on full liquids, you can add the cream soups. I remember going to Red Lobster and having the lobster bisque. I added tomato soups and split pea soup-which is pretty high in protein. I would stay away from the Peanut Butter too. I was eating yogurt on my full liquids phase also. Good luck! It does get easier! -

transforming jlaroux replied to abbylamb's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
your stomach may also be inflamed and irritated from all the stuck episodes. It might be good to do liquids for a few days and then try solids again. -
Trouble With Going To The Bathroom
transforming jlaroux replied to WeaponX's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hello! you may also want to talk to your doc about a stool softener. I've had to add this and Fiber to my diet. Remember, you're not eating as much fiber now, so things are a little slower. If you're very concerned, always talk to your doctor and/or nutritionist! That's what they are there for! -
yes, I had this same experience. I told my doctor I would prove him wrong. He told me I would only lose about 50-60 pounds and it would take a long time. He told me I would be unhappy, and not nearly as successful as the bypass. Well, I did prove him wrong, and continue to on a daily basis. don't let your doctor scare you away from what you want. If you follow through with all the things you need to do with your band, you will be successful.

I completely read your post wrong!!! I thought you were talking about measuring food!! Lol!!! I do weight myself, every single morning. I have a digital scale, and its exactly 4 pounds off from my doctors scale.

Smaller Band Vs Larger Band: Is This True?
transforming jlaroux replied to Twillwood's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I have a 14 cc band. I've had 5 fills, and lost 80 pounds in 9 months. I have been pretty consistent, and when I'm not losing, I evaluate how much I'm eating and if my food is more than 1-2 cups, I call and get a fill. -
I don't measure. I let my band do the measuring.

How Much Weight Did You Loose At 6 Months?
transforming jlaroux replied to Marla290's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I love the term, comfortable fill. That is exactly what I have. I can only eat about 1/2 cup of food, then I'm done. I'm satisfied, so I don't feel like I'm missing out. I'm also learning to dislike Pasta and bread. It's just a holder for the good stuff on the inside! lol. Physically, pasta and bread make me throw up. I can't handle it. It's an awful feeling. Anyway, to answer the original posters question, I am 9 months out and I have lost 80 pounds. My goal is 100 pounds by May 24 (my 1 year bariversary). At about 6 months, I had lost about 50 pounds, I think.
