I was supposed to have Lap Band surgery last year, before I was let go of my job and lost my insurance. As of now my current job does not offer insurance, but I want and need this surgery! I'm trying to find the best option for this journer. I'm applying for medicaid and hoping that they will approve and cover this surgery. If not I guess i'll have to find a financing plan/loan. If anyone has any information that could help me, please let me know!
I'm 29 years old and have been struggling with my weight since I was a teenager. I didn't really gain most of my weight until I was 14-15 years old. I started seeing a nutritionist that helped keep my weight monitored and controlled. It's also a lot easier as an active teenager to lose weight. Once in my 20's I was diagnosed with Crohn's and colitis, and severe anemia. I was put on several medications including steroids. The medications bloated me and caused over night weight gain. As I would change medications my weight would go up and down constantly. Once I was in my mid 20's too much weight had piled on. I started various diets and i'd lose inches quickly, but never saw big drops on the scale. It's so discouraging to eat light and exercise and see no change. It makes it so hard on the mind, body and soul. Once I'd tried diets and plans I decided to look into Lap band surgery-as it's not as invasise and drastic as gastric. So now here I am, at my heaviest and hoping that this can change before I get into my 30's and start a family.
