  1. The compression garments are from marena a US company even tho i am in the UK, they are the best compression u can get. I wear the leggings which are the same compression as the surgical garments, their website is http://marenagroup.com/garmentstore/product/tabid/199/p-110-shapzme-womens-leggings.aspx these garments are perfect for flabby skin on legs ! I had some recent problems with my leg scars, 3 weeks post op i developed severe allergies to the dressings and i had 4 retained stitches which turned into stitch abscesses. A week later i am now much better, anti biotics and changing dressings daily my legs are nearly healed now. They look a little strange tho as i have the tanned front of my legs now meeting the white skin from the back of my legs lol, thank god its winter now ! will post some more pics when i get rid of the dressings ... i wear the compression leggings all the time and they are wonderful. Worst part is getting the darn leggings on, u need strength and muscles to do it lol.

    29'ers!!!!!!!

Good luck and it will all be worth it in the long run. Don't rush things and do as u are advised and all should work out ok !
  4. Post op 10 days now and feeling a lot better and not so sore.. still wearing 2 lots of compression on my legs so a little uncomfortable but worth it ! my new legs are awesome
  5. Back home today and feeling very well but tired. I am wearing compression stockings and on top of therm compression leggings and although a little sore, pain is very bearable, just on normal pain killers now if needed. Worst pain was the drains and getting them removed, but instant relief once they were out. Legs have swollen a little bit but i lost over 6lbs of excess skin so had a lot cut off. Shape looks really good even with the swelling so am very pleased with how things worked out. My last job will be my saggy breasts and now my legs are done i notice my breasts even more and they will drive me mad if i dont get them done so next year when my surgeon is back from maternity leave the breasts will be done and i will be finished then, financially and physically lol I am 58 yrs old and this still feels right to do even at my age !
  6. All done, well my legs look awesome in my compression leggings,p I have 4 drains and a slightly longer scar down my right leg as my legs mere uneven near the knee. pain is totally bearable, it's just sore and pain meds doing a good job on that .. Will try and do a pic tomorrow, it's 1.45am here Operation took over 7 hours anda total of 6lbs of skin removed .. I was wide Wake the minute they finished lol so nio sleep for me tonight Totally worth it tho ....
  7. Its strange but only 2 days to go till i get some non saggy legs and already the emotions are all over the place. I wasnt worried at all about my previous very lengthy surgery for my abdominoplasty and my brachioplasty but this bilateral thigh lift really has me in a more tense and anxious state. I know deep down i will be ok but i am not sleeping and my nerves are all on edge, i just want it over and done with now, i hate waiting around. My surgery isnt till thursday afternoon so i have a lot of waiting around to do thursday morning.. My cold and chest infection seem to have cleared up so i dont think that will be an issue now so all should go ahead as planned thursday. I am trying to keep busy till then just to stop me clock watching ..This is the time where i would love a ciggie to calm my nerves or a large bar of chocolate to take my mind off of things ! thanks for all your nice comments and good wishes, they are very much appreciated
  8. Its very hard to predict the amount of skin someone will end up with after losing weight, obviously a large amount of weight like i had to lose its pretty darn guaranteed to leave u with vast amounts of spare skin. For most of you with average amounts of weight to lose its as individual as your hair is, or any other genetic feature. Age and sex play a big part along with either smoking or the menopause all of which impact on your skins elasticity. All u can do is treat your skin well eat healthy and keep hydrated and eat your required amount of protein. I have said this before !! if u do end up with spare skin, wear it like a badge of honour, and be proud of it ...
  9. You can definitely see a difference, just remember our eyes and brain lose wieght a lot slower than our bodies, we are so used to seeing big, our perception is totally screwed till we have as long being smaller as we were big !
  10. We all lose weight at differing rates, some are fast losers some are slow, you need to change things maybe and kick start yourself again, try reducing the carbs, or increasing your cardio or add some strength training, drink plenty of water and keep experimenting, try some metabolism foods like broccoli and chilli, green tea etc, the internet is a great place to research slow metabilisms and slow weight loss. You still have done well so dont be too down on yourself
  11. Maybe try and find a fill doctor nearer to you if u dont want to go back to mexico. The band can be hard work if u dont have the correct amount of fill, and that amount varies for everyone but as you had all your fluid removed u need to start on getting some fills soon otherwise its just another diet you will have to do good luck !

    Hungry More Often

Sounds like u need another fill so i would reschedule earlier if u can
  13. It would be hard for me to tell u the cost as i am in the UK and i presume u are US and my brother is the general manager of the hospital i am getting it done in so i get a family discount, i certainly wouldnt be able to get it done otherwise .. maybe one of the others on here from the US can help you with that question ,, good luck with those last few lbs anyways !
  14. Well I am still crossing my fingers to get rid of this cold/chest infection, Am now on anti biotics and am praying that this chest gets better within the next couple of days so that my surgery can go ahead !
  15. Heya Slinky Yes i had my tummy/back and arms done in May now going in for my thigh lift on October 18th if this cold / chest infection clears up in time, the girls need a lift too but cant afford it and at my age not sure if i seriously need it, or just want it lol there is some pics of my legs on the cosmetic surgery forum .. legs are awful , they sooo need doing are u doing ok ? i am not on here much now ...
  16. A lapband will only help you on the amount of food you choose to eat and your hunger and feelings of satiety. It wont alter your love of food at all. You will have to make better choices as to what u eat and make sure that u stick to regular meals as i am sure that 'snacking' or 'grazing' is a real temptation cooking all day long. I see u call yourself a cook, why not a chef i appreciate u have to taste food, any good chef does, so u have to allow for that during the day. Plenty of Protein will keep you feeling satisfied and the band will support you, not alter you mentally so keep your love of food and use the lapband as a tool to start cooking things and discovering food that wont put on weight I am not a cook but i like cooking, i prefer savoury food, i trawl the internet for low carb/low calorie recipies and try them. you adapt your love to fit in with a lapband u dont lose that love of food and cooking. Ofc if u love fast food then u do have to go back to the drawing board but otherwise i am sure u will adapt and be fine and once u have lost what u need to some of what u love most can come back into your diet ! Good luck ..
  17. good to hear u are ok and u got what u wanted Good luck for your new future i am in for my thigh lift Oct 18th if i can shake off this darn cold/chest infection.
  18. It may well be that u just arent burning enough calories to the amount u are eating, walking is good exercise but it just doesnt burn as many calories as doing some vigorous exercise. Obviously check out with your surgeon/doctor etc what else u can do diet wise, but i would step up the exercise to burn more than u are eating. Of course u could always try another surgeon
  19. Thanks all for your good wishes, i am struggling at the minute staving off a darn cold/flu so fingers crossed it comes and goes before my surgery date next week, if i lose this slot i have to wait till next year ..
  20. Good luck pixie with the operation. Not many people experience any port pain after its healed and certainly not after fills so please put your mind at ease wherever it is placed i am sure you will be fine

    First Fill After A Year

Its a shame that your surgeon didnt explain to you about what to expect post - op. For the most of us post op is all about will power, you normally feel little or no restriction untill you start getting band fills. This is the whole idea of the lap band. It doesnt do much untill there is some fluid in it . It is like expecting a car to run without petrol, it just doesnt go anywhere. After your first fill or 2 u still may not feel much restriction, everyone is different and all doctors fill at different rates. So in an 11 cc band for example u might feel some restriction after several fills or even 5 fills. Just be patient and keep trying the willpower route until u start to feel what the band was designed for. This will certainly then help with the portion control and hunger, but try measuring your food in accordance with your doctors instructions and behave like u have have some restriction. Dont forget you need to add in some good exercise to get that wieght off.. Can i ask why it has taken a year to get your first fill, as a band without a fill is pretty useless for most of us ?

Having Trouble With Slime And Burping

Am glad to hear all is ok, i thought it might be surgery related or the meds so just bide your time now and heal that knee till u can get a small fill back in

Having Trouble With Slime And Burping

I agree that u should call your surgeon to make sure that everything is ok. It could very well be the pain meds or the result of the surgery u just had, i had never had an episode of reflux till i had my plastic surgery, and i eventually had to take some gaviscon, or whatever the US equivalent is, that worked a treat till i was eating more normally. It does sound like it is more linked to your surgery but u do need to discuss with your lapband surgeon to make sure everything is ok .. good luck.

    Large Fill Volumes

If the fill levels work for you then your doctor is doing right by you, some people need smaller fills and a more gentle approach some manage fine with more agressive fills. I think theres a few on here that would have loved a more agressive approach, As it is working for you then be content that u are where it takes some over 6 months of fills to get to
  25. Mine was messed up too, but all ok today
