Cazzy replied to dsb's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
its a little bit self sabotaging to compare yourself to others .. compare yourself to what you were a year ago that is your true measure ! -
i think the ignore button or unfriend is appropriate here !

was thinking the same thing

Just as a footnote ... in the UK there has been a growing demand for the 'mind band' from hypnotherapy... mainly because very few in the UK have private insurance and the criteria for WLSurgery paid for on the National Health service is quite strict mostly BMI of 50 + especially lately with the economic crisis etc, also they tend to now offer only bypass, depending on where u live in the Uk. Some people are open to suggestion through hypnotherapy .. like those who used it to quit smoking.. same thing really. If it works for some good luck to them .. it certainly wasnt for me tho Lol there is even an advert for it on this forum ! i will see some different adverts than the US ones ... Gastric mind band therapy World acclaimed hypnoband therapist Returns to the UK..

Down After A Year Of Being Banded!
Cazzy replied to ShrnkN2's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Being too tight will often lead people to eat more high calorie slider foods which is what is responsible for weight gains. It is often the high calorie foods that slip past a tight band.. and if u are too restricted u are hungry and often desperate to get some form of food inside you ... Plenty of threads on the forum about people unable to eat protein but can eat pizza and burgers and all the other junk food -
Gained Weight Immediately After Surgery! Help! Did This Happen To Anyone Else????
Cazzy replied to Cakes198's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Same thing happened to me till i realised that my scales had broken so check them out too -
it would be doubtful that the pill is stuck if you broke it into peices, more likely that one of the bits of pill scratched your oesophagus on the way down, now that can make it feel like something is stuck in your throat. good idea to get liquid if u can

I get a lot of bloating too, mainly from Irritabale Bowel Syndrome.. IBS can bloat u on a daily basis so might be worth checking out with your doctor. I obviously used to get a lot of bloating before i lost weight but because i was overweight it wasnt noticeable till now !

Well Isnt That Just Plain Depressing ? Total Set Back Will Keep Pushing On
Cazzy replied to mandyMO's topic in Fitness & Exercise
I have got exactly the same problems as u have with skin. Even now i would rather have skin and be my size now than when i weighed 400lbs. I cover up a lot, do your zumba in leggings.. tight ones! .. they help a lot, same with the arms, its a price we pay for being fitter and healthier, loose skin is your badge of honour ....i might hate it but i am proud of it -
You can water load before you get weighed, increase salt intake and then drink a lot of water .. like they have done on biggest loser i am not saying its a good thing to do but needs must sometimes, wear jeans heavy trainers eat a large breakfast lots of drinks lol weights in your pockets ... tons of things could easily make you a higher weight and when it comes to measure your height to get your bmi dont stand tall ........ good luck...

Wait! Whats Up With My Weight?!
Cazzy replied to Char1020's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Firstly you are in the zone of bandster hell.. u have a relatively normal appetite and not much restriction. I am surprised that you werent told that until u reach your full restriction the weight might well be slow in coming off. The only way u can really lose weight whilst in this zone is to, in a sense, diet.. which in reality means you have to burn more calories than u are eating .. you have to maintain your water input and proteins and look for foods that give a full feeling for longer and try not to go back to old eating habits. If you are hungry then look to a few more snacks of low calorie high protein ones or something like sugar free jello or sugar free sweets. I am lucky that i continued to lose weight throughout this process but i know it is unusual for some for this to happen. I did however stick with 1000 calories a day and exercise my rear end off ... the band really only started to take full effect around my 5 th fill which was 5 months post op. Just dont get discouraged and give up on things, in banster terms u both are still are some way off getting the full effects .. give it time and patience and do what you know u need to and the weight will eventually come off ..... Would you not have put weight on over these last couple of months if you didnt have the band fitted, especially with christmas ... -
Breakfast .. 2oz wild alaskan smoked salmon and a crispbread(ryvita) Dinner.........2 thin slices roast beef brussels and frozen peas. 0% greek yoghurt with teaspoon maple syrup. Supper....... 1 mug home made green veg soup 1 home made oat and bran and chilli roll. 0% greek yoghurt 1 teaspoon maple syrup. snacks.. sugar free jello/jelly with added blackcurrants. Tea and coffee with skimmed milk as and when ... around 1000 calories for the day ...

I eat a lot of soup and only eat a low cal ryvita ( crispbread ) with it, i certainly would blame the crackers and cheese !
-
I made my own green veg soup then blended and still eat it every day for lunch , i also used weight watchers tomato soup, the only decent flavour, if u are getting your protein from shakes etc ww tomatoe to fill the hunger is great.. 70 cals a tin

The whole idea of following the liquid diet>mushies>solid food is to allow your stomach to heal. Yes each doctor has different time frames as to how long he wants you to stay on each stage, but why risk not following their guidelines. Its not as if any one of us would end up starving .. you need to be more determined to make the band work in the long run rather than satisfying short term wants. Find something to do when u are hungry, most of us got where we are/were by eating for other reasons other than hunger .. might be an idea to get some sugar free sweets to suck on to stave off any cravings like ice cream. If you allowed tea or coffee with skimmed milk it helps in between meals, or add skimmed milk to low fat yoghurt to make your own drinks. I made my own veg soup which was very filling which would be ideal for moving on from liquids .. good luck with the hunger !

Water is definitely best ! It could also be a high Blood Pressure after working out or high pulse rate, try drinking if that doesnt work its time to see the doctor

There could be so many reasons why you havent lost the weight you wanted to, we were banded at the same time last year, too and i have done well, but in order for some help and support it might be an idea to list what you have been doing to lose weight. i.e how much exercise, calories, how much protein u eat, etc what level of restriction do u have .. all of which can impact on weight loss, along with emotional things like stress and depresssion, or physical things like PCOS, thyroid etc .. some more details and we can look at where we think u could change things

I bought myself a road bike and now cycle outdoors instead of indoors on my exercise bike .. i needed lots of new clothes anyways so i didnt count a new wardrobe as a reward
-
I have a size 14 band and i didnt feel any restriction till around 5.5 cc's of fill so dont be too disappointed if u dont feel much restriction till u start hitting the higher fills. Some do feel more restriction with smaller fills as we are all different but just be patient im sure u will feel it soon Are you sure you cant appeal against having to pay for the second surgery, after all he was the one that put in the band that was too tight, i dont see why you should pay for his mistake or maybe offer to pay half only as it was his responsibility to check the band after he fitted it .. just a thought ..

My scars have completely healed and are barely noticeable. Strange thing is that i dont have stretch marks even tho i was extremely heavy .. not that i am complaining , but my worst scar is my caesarian lapband scars fade if they heal well. My port is on my breast bone so that scar isnt even visible ..

Just purchased my xbox now and got dance central2 .. great fun and a good workout dont tthink i am ready for zumba yet but will get going on it in a few weeks . thanks for the reviews it helped me make my mind up to buy one and i love it already

I drink if i want to right before i eat and have had no problems at all, my doc said if i want to then do it. I quite often have soup before my main meal and that causes no problems at all either.. The drinking before hand is an individual thing most of the time, but generally the drinking after is what causes most problems .. try and see if your doc says ok

Rate Of Weight Loss?
Cazzy replied to Banterwonder's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My average over the last year has been 3lbs per week, but i had a lot to lose so intially it was a lot easier, weight loss has slowed right down now and some weeks i lose nothing but i continue on the same routine with slight variations in calories or exercise, i dont have much more to lose now so if it takes another year i am quite happy with that ..
