Is A 5 Pound Gain Possible?

I think its highly possible to gain 5lbs from eating what u said you ate, u must also include the sweets and crackers of an evening that you ate during the week, time to get back to basics and allow your cheat weekend to be a learning experience and one not to be repeated Forgive yourself .. good luck !

    Weighing In

Before the lapband i hadnt weighed myself for over 5 yrs, now everyday i get on the scales and i actually like it i use the scales like i used to monitor my sugar when i was diabetic, if i gained a lb i work hard that day to take it off. All my old clothes are now gone except one size 5XL tee shirt, freeing up your space in your closet is like making space in your mind to accpet the new you Congrats on your weight loss so far and keep up the good work ...

    Newbie Wondering About Food Pre-Surgery

I can eat any meat, seafood or fish if it is cut small enough, moist enough and chewed well, however i cant eat scrambled eggs or raw veg, although i do eat a lot of chopped salads. I dont eat pasta or any high carb foods like rice or bread by choice ! .. Some cant eat much of a morning as the band can be a little tighter so they stick with a protein shake or a warm drink to relax it a little first. Most food people eat is individual to them, so it would be individual to you if u have the lapband fitted as to what could end up eating .. big no no's are drinking while eating, eating large quantities or too fast and not chewing well seem to be the standard sort of restrictions ... In general there isnt really intolerance to anything because of a lapband, some doctors will ask for no caffine or alcohol others will say no problem, i drink coffee, not strong, and tea as fillers in between meals my doctor is fine with it and as u can see i have lost the weight i needed too and am continuing on the homeward stretch to my goal. Good luck and maybe this will be the year that changed your life
  13. I agree with Holly, the lapband for me was an opportunity to gain back my life which was getting more and more restricted as the years went on. The complications for remaining overweight far outweigh any that the lap band could muster up. The only real risk to you is from the surgery its self like any surgery would pose risks. The lap band is classed as a minor operation and the insertion of a small bracelet size peice of plastic around your stomach like a belt around your waist. To me at 57 yrs young it was still no worse than having a wisdom tooth out. At your age you should be enjoying life to the full and not having to worry about your weight. I would sieze the opportunity, investigate everything you need to know, just read this forum for loads of useful info and make an informed decision based on what you need/want to do for you:) My other half lost 75lbs just from eating the same foods as me, just he ate more of them ofc maybe u and your boyfriend could do this together as a couple and u both could benefit. Lapband is the least intrusive of all the weight loss surgery, I only wish it had been around when i was your age good luck !

    Eat Too Fast

Most people feel the same after the first few fills, a few do feel restriction after 1 fill but most do not, so patience is needed till you get a few more fills under your belt...

    Tomorrow!!!!!

Good luck and a speedy recovery !
  16. I think u need to discuss with the doctor how u are feeling and what is happening regarding your eating and lack of restriction. I have a size 14 band and am just over 7.25 fill, it does sound like u need more of a fill than u have but the problem is he will only put in as much fill as the water drink test indicates, a lot of doctors would do the same. It certainly would seem a good idea to request an xray or fill under flouroscopy, here in the UK they never fill using xrays but i see u are in the US so it may well be that u can request it. Asking for a 1cc fill i dont think sounds unreasonable especially as u seem to have little restriction at the moment so i would go for it My only concerns regarding some of your post are that you say that 'when u feel restriction you are going to want to eat the right things'.. making the right choices on food really isnt about restriction its about your resolve and comittment to making this band work for you. Some people can lose weight eating the same food just smaller amounts others have to change what they eat aswell. I look at the pouch the band makes like a shopping bag , even if u reduce the size of the shopping bag its still your choice what u put in it.. The band wont make healthy decisions for you only you can do that .. I know u probably know this and sorry for having to say it .. I really hope you do well at your appointment today and then maybe u can start again on taking control more. You dont mention exercise at all and that ofc for most is also key to making this band work so get moving if you arent doing any and maybe you can start losing again. I do eat low carb, low fat high protein and that formula works for me along with exercise everyday .. go for it !
  17. Amen to that lellow good luck with the problems !
  18. ofc making sure u make the right decision and no regrets is what we all should do, i was more focused on the foreign object angle ... A lap band is fairly minor surgery, although expensive if u are self pay like i was .. to me it was the simplest solution to a life long problem .. good luck with it anyways
  19. I agree with elcee u are definitely overthinking this whole issue.. why would u be more worried about a small peice of plastic being placed into your body as against all the co morbilities that being obese can cause, to me a peice of plastic v diabetes, and all those complications, heart disease, high blood pressure everything far outweighs the placement of a lapband.. wait till u get older and need a hip replacement or a knee replacement or a pacemaker would u still think u didnt want a foreign object in your body ?.. try and get past what the negatives in your mind are and look at the positives.
  20. i really hope u find what will work best for you and just go for it .. honestly i had been on a plateau for a couple of weeks, then last weekend i got flu i didnt do my normal routine of exercise but decided i would do all those housework jobs that one hates like cleaning the oven, wiping paintwork down, i was glad of the break from cycling everyday and now my house is all shiny clean and flu is gone and this week 4lbs down , how can anyone not be happy with that.. Good luck to you whatever u decide to do
  21. The complications from having a lap band on a long term basis dont come near the problems that you are storing up being overweight .. to me there was no comparison at all, the lap band wont cause you anywhere near the life threatening health problems you could face with obesity.. If ever i had to have my lapband removed i would say good bye to a good friend who has helped me lose the vast amount of weight i needed to and have no regrets about this process at all good luck..

How many days per week for exercise?

You could try exercise bike or rowing machine where your back isnt under so much pressure.. I have a bad back and treadmill isnt really comfortable for me so i use an exercise bike and rowing machine they work great
  23. I am on 800 to 1000 calories a day low fat high protein, I was always doing restricted carbs because of my diabetes so i carried on eating around 35 a day ... i gave up all processed and white grain food .. dont miss it at all and it works for me ...I have 3 meals a day plenty of fish and chicken, non root veg and sugar free jello 0% greek yoghurt and skimmed milk and exercise as much as i am able .. Even at my starting weight of 400lbs i only had diabetes and now that is cured .. its been worth eating food that i need and not eating food i want ... good luck
