  1. It sounds like u have low sugar of a morning which many do on the post op liquids, i suggest u have a drink of milk or drink milk mixed with yoghurt before u sleep the few carbs that are in milk products will help balance your sugar a little overnight as they slow release .. no harm in trying anyways

    Terrible Period Pain After Surgery

Its probably a result of the surgery and stress etc, certainly the band would not affect your womb, it can be a miracle worker but it cant be blamed for all ailments !. You may find u are a little dehydrated and that will affect pain too
  3. Personally as an ex nurse i would def ask for a scan, you need to make sure all is ok with the band before u start looking for fills again. I would also suggest that the stress of what you have been through with your friend must have impacted in your physical well being and i am sure some of what u have experienced physically will not all be down to the band.. Stress can cause muscles to tighten as i am sure you know, imagine that knot in your stomach u can get from stress along with being banded.. it cant help the band at all. At the moment you have only gained a small amount so now is the time to attack this problem and sort out what u can do to help you .. Make the appointment and start your journey again.. good luck

Am I Close To The Green

Getting stuck is not necessarily linked to good restriction, it has more to do with the way you eat and what u are eating, i know i need a small fill because of hunger pangs after eating but i still get stuck sometimes due to my eating too fast, accidentally swallowing to big bites, or sometimes food just sticks on one day and not on another if u are getting hungry and still eating more than u should then maybe another small fill will help. Best to discuss this in another fill appointment ..

    I Feel Like Im Falling

I would imagine that only 3 months post op that u are still not experiencing a good restriction. You are not failing you are just impatient. Sometimes we need a person who cares about us to give us a slap on the wrist and tell us like it is ! Many of us didnt really feel good restriction till 4 or 5 fills i am sure u havent had that many fills yet being only 3 months out. What u are experiencing is bandster hell , u have a band, u dont lose weight for a few weeks and suddenly your world feels like its collapsing .. have hope things will improve the more restriction u get .. I would go back to see your doctor and see if another fill will help you. The band can never make good choices of food for you, but u seem to already know what the problem is from what you say, so stop buying that sort of food, get motivated, and get that appointment made I wonder if you would have gained weight by now if you hadnt had the band Good luck and dont let food/fat win !

    Crestor??

I would go on the net, find the side effects list of that drug then go present your doc with your evidence if u cant change docs. i know my doctor is really grateful that i sometimes investigate a problem and take her the results as she often doesnt have time to do that herself ..Doctors arent always right !

    Support From You Signifigant Other?

My other half has had to lose some weight too so he ate what i did just more of it, he dropped 80lbs while i dropped all mine he has been brilliant, but he was brilliant before the band so i knew i could rely on his help ! Maybe ask your husband why he said what he did, he might be feeling insecure that u are gonna lose all this weight and then leave him, or u are getting attention he isnt etc etc, if it was out of character then i would definitley speak to him about it, if not in my honest opinion the remarks will continue after surgery, they might not be about your weight but something else next time. Remarks are hurtful and unneccesary so try and sort it out now before u have the surgery and have to start concentrating on living with the band .. good luck

    Life Of The Band

Thanks! i was just of the mindset that i would make this work no matter what, ofc with some luck too .. fingers crossed
  9. LOL that made me laff .. 'the mind of the band' that is just soo true
  10. I had a fill on the 14th january and am going through exactly the same thing .. I know i need another small fill but am also getting stuck, can even be something like soup or jelly, i think examining whats going on, for me it has been silly things like not chewing enough, not gulping liquid, eating too fast... the band had loosened since last fill but i think i am just a little lazy and i quite often forget i have a band .. i still need another small fill tho and am now being very very careful how i eat etc and i havent got stuck since so that did work If u still cant get fluids down properly then maybe go in for a tiny unfill .. u should consult the doctor if fluids are a real problem ..
  11. U dont mention if you are exercising. I would certainly try and get some sort of routine going regarding working out, even if its walking or something like swimming. Exercise definitely helps with some negative emotions and planning a rotuine will help deal with some of those daily struggles. Having plans and boundaries and not leaving your days to chance helps to create an easier atmosphere to live in and therefore reduces the stress on our moods. Since losing weight and exercising i am a much more organised person now, where before i lived in chaos, both emotionally and physically. I hope things improve for you ..

    Am I Full Yet?

Most people dont experience the full feeling or their green zone or good restriction, whatever u call it, until 3rd or 4th fill . What surprises me is that information wasnt given to u prior to surgery. Its not even the number of fills its the amount that you have in your band to feel full and satisfied. Coupled along with this is learning to recognise the 'full' signals that u get when eating. Again some do have difficulty not reading these signals or they just dont get them. Self restraint on the amount of food just as much as the type of food is the way to manage this period inbetween surgery and restriction. Its well known that some people will gain a little weight in this period of time just be patient it took years to get to pre-op status, banding isnt a quick fix and taking your time to heal and recover and learn a new way of eating also takes time. Just follow your surgeons guidelines and start looking forward to a new way of life
  13. I was around 10 weeks on 600 calories pre-op as i had weight to drop before surgery, I was fine and post-op it didnt increase much till i was eating solid food. Now i eat around a 1000 calories a day.

    Itchy???

I wasnt allegic to the glue they used but am allergic to the adhesive on things like steri-strips surgical tape band aids etc, its only on my body that i react to the adhesive, my surgery sites were glued but not covered, i just wore soft clean cotton t shirts they healed fine. The itching is a nightmare i feel for u all..
  15. Totally agree food taste much better !
  16. It is rare to cause any problems with the band on lifting heavy weights as lifting puts the strain on your stomach muscles not your actual stomach. Lots of us do weight training and its fine, It sounds more like u have pulled a muscle. Sometimes if one herniates from lifting something heavy u can feel a 'pop' in the muscle wall where it has torn, not always ofc. I would see how things go, some soothing heat pad might help and if u can swallow as normal then u know it will probably be muscular. As with all things if u are concerned then a visit to the doctor is in order

    Gastric Sleeve Vs Lap Band

I am also 5.4 tall and i had double the weight u need to lose the band for me was the most simplest of all 3 surgeries, i dont like being forced to live with something because it cant be reversed. I have lost more than some people do with the bypass or sleeve .. if u want to succeed and work hard at it then it is possible ..I wouldnt change the band at all .. Just make an informed decision based on the medical info and self knowledge . then commit to it .. good luck

Not Sure About This Last Fill...

I wouldnt have cold drinks like milk of a morning if you feel your band is tight, a warm drink stands more chance of relaxing the band a little , my band tightens up if i drink cold milk of a morning too so i dont
