Not A Glamourous Topic...
Cazzy replied to BandedBanker's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I eat 5 stewed prunes a day or drink prune juice, they are high in fibre and work like a laxative and are completely natural works almost daily or every other day at the most .. they are nice to eat too otherwise increase your fibre somehow, natrally is best from food, if not buy some fibre suppliment. -
How Many Have Fell Off The Lap Band Wagon??????
Cazzy replied to ThinDolphin3's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I would consider going to the doctor to see if u need a fill as a baseline to kick start you again, many here go back to basics if they fall off the bandwagon and start their liquids then on to mushies etc and always following the eating rules of the band. I know this will be hard if u need a fill so i would check that out first .. and start exercising anyways, it will help shift the weight and help burn the calories. -
Good luck with the nsurgery, I am sure you will be fine. Keep doing what the docs tell u to do and it will all lead to a great success story

April 25Th Will Be 6 Months On The Dot From My Surgery, Down 143 Ponds!!!!!!
Cazzy replied to Joel's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Gratz Joel on the hard work, and i know how hard you have worked believe me -
Everyone is given differenmt advice from their surgeon / doctor so it would be best to ask what them. Most docs let u walk straight away but vigorous work outs they might say 2 weeks or 6 weeks or 3 months so its best to get medical advice on that one

I agree a light lunch several hours before a fill would be fine for most ..

You might be like a lot of us and need to balance your calorie intake and calories burned in order to get more weight off. I know counting calories is pretty boring but unless u know how many you are consuming you may be eating too little or even too many. Fruit is a lot of sugar/fructose it may be u are eating a lot of fruit ? Change something small, see if it works if not change something else. I would try steering clear of root veg and no more than 1 fruit per day to avoid loading carbs .. stick to green veg it has a lot more beneficial properties and exercise like mad .. Good luck !

I have a tea or coffeee with skimmed milk to stave off the hunger pangs till the next meal, if u need more then go for a greek yoghurt, unflavoured 0 fat add some sweetner to it if u need, cottage cheese, just a glass of skimmed milk, 6 almonds to chew on, or look on the forum for snack idead under food and nutrition, plenty of ideas there too

Just Joined Am I Feeling Normal?
Cazzy replied to QueenieBee's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If you arent eating you will not have the energy to work and i suspect your blood sugar will be low due to the spikes and lows fructose causes, and will leaving u feeling weak, dizzy and sick, faint and generally unwell. U need some meal raplacement drinks if u are still on liquids with some calories in and high protein. Your body cannot function on fruit juice and you will not heal as quickly unless u take note of what your doctor/nutritionist told u to eat. Sometimes we dont feel like eating but food is like a medicine at the moment whilst u heal and regain your strength so even if we dont want to u must eat to keep healthy Good luck ! -
Time To Reach Out And Say Hello
Cazzy replied to Navy Mom Molly's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
As long as you followed your doctors schedule of how long to stay on liquids and mushies then u should be fine .. The band is doing very little at the moment till u start getting a few fills under your belt, just take this time to learn what to eat and practise eating small bites and slowly, drinking polenty of water and eating your protein first. If you dont want to risk putting on a few lbs in this 'bandster hell' period of time its best to journal your calorie/food intake and exercise when u are cleared to -
Good luck and ask as many questions as you can think of and gather all the information u can .
-
I agree with steph go get that fill and start again, you have the band, the tool to get what u want, the doctor is only human , its not like u put the weight back on with a full band It happens to many people just bite the bullet and get down the docs, the fear of going is always worse than actually doing it

Has Anyone Coughed Up Something Weird???
Cazzy replied to simoneshirbet's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Agree its tonsil stuff -
Maybe your tummy was reacting to all the crap they put in those shakes, theres very little ' good for you milk' in them its starch and sugar .. ugh, it could also be that the shakes are normally very very cold to keep the starch solidified so that they appear 'thick' and the coldness could have made your band tight, its not a great idea to have freezing cold food so soon after surgery I think somewhere around 87 carbs lol Dont beat yourself up over it tho just learn from the experience and talk to your doctor about it

Question For Those That Have Reached Goal Weight Or Close To It.
Cazzy replied to Toddy's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
i have been seeing mine every few months but anticipate maybe every 6 months to a year if no fill is needed ... -
Not sure if this has been suggested before or not but i have made my SF Jello with skimmed milk and turned it into a milk puidding and it was sooo nice. I made the strawberry flavour one, this tasted like a milk shake but was set. You have to melt the jello powder/crystals in a small amount of boiling Water then add cold milk and make up as per instructions .. in the Uk one packet makes 1 pint.. I never make it up to an exact pint to ensure its sets ok. Enjoy

I really hope things get sorted out for you .. worst case scenario if you do have to change docotrs isnt that bad, this isnt complicated surgery the success normally comes after with support and proper fills etc so keep in mind that that is what is best to focus on. You have the support of your family too which will help a lot. Hopefully everything will work out for you with your exisiting doctor, if not dont stresss over it, you will still get your surgery and your can look forward to a thinner you

A weight gain of something like 20lbs could actually make the band tighter again if u have put on visceral fat around your tummy, the same goes if u lose weight the band will often loosen .. i would contact your doctor but just onto liquids for a few days too.

Help, I Think My Hair Is Falling Out!
Cazzy replied to sherrypep's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It is common for hair to thin as a result of extended dieting. Just make sure your protein intake is what is recommended for you by your nutritionist and I take Biotin too it does help, not so much for the loss but to stimulate the regrowth. I have the Biotin shampoo and conditioner too. I take 5000mgs a day its a large capsule but seems to go down ok A nice side effect of Biotin is that your eyelashes grow too, well mine have anyways -
Great job congratz on the weight loss i only recently got the same victory of weighing less than DH and that was after 20 yrs .. so i know how u feel

Tommorrow Is "b" Day Excited Nervous Scared !! :-/
Cazzy replied to bigenuff's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I hope all goes well with the surgery for you.. Most of us were nervous before the operation about failing afterwards, its only natural to feel like that after struggling with a problem like weight for many many years. Just think to how life will be when the weight starts coming off and keep that in your mind not a 'what if i fail ' thought u need to think 'what if i dont fail'
