What Would You Do If Something Happened To Your Band?
Cazzy replied to spoiltmom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I would thank the band for all the help it has given me and wave it goodbye.. I would hope i had learned enough about eating healthy food that i wouldnt need anything else done. my choices over food are not the responsibility of the band they are mine so why would i change that .. i might eat more i hope not but i wouldnt choose any different food because of it would i get surgery again, I dont think so it took me 37 yrs to put on 250lb i havent got 37 years left to live lol -
i never feel anything, to me me there is no point in having an injection to kill the pain from another injection, if its done right it shouldnt hurt at all really.

I have worn discs due to nursing for 10 yrs many years ago when we used to lift eveyone manually. Losing the weight has definitely helped my back, i still have issues standing for long periods of time but no where near the trouble i used to have. I still get stiff sometimes and my back is painful on certain days but i find a heat pad is all i need to relax the muscles that hold my back in place. I am working on my abs to give extra strength to my back. I would def say that weight loss will help your back even if it doesnt cure it.

Cazzy replied to mandagay's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
As far as i am aware Green coffee beans are a specific type of bean that hasnt been roasted. -
Such sad news, i really enjoyed her posts. My thoughts are with her family and friends. May justice reign hard on that hospital for all the delays.

congrats on the half way mark, keep going

if u mash it down with a fork then it was acceptable as a mushy from my surgeon ..

This is the link to shirley sharing what had gone wrong .. personally i dont think she should have been discharged home with such complications http://www.lapbandtalk.com/topic/145300-its-been-a-while-but-im-back-and-alive/page__fromsearch__1

I am posting again because of the recent news regarding one of our own dear Shirley and the shock that she has passed away. Yes this news does raise our concerns for the long term and i would advise anyone who is worried to speak to your own band surgeon regarding what happened. I know I will check out with my surgeon the information regarding complications from band slippage. The Uk has been using the lapband a long time so it may well be that we have longer term information here. My only concern regarding what happened to shirley is that if i needed the band removed then i dont think they should have discharged her home and operated to remove it asap .. maybe the outcome would have been different i dont know .. The bands they use now are different to the ones from over 5 yrs ago and hopefully the design changes will make this more unlikely to happen for new bandsters. I cannot see that if the odds were so bad that the governements of banding countries would allow the proceedure to be continued to be used. I think given the amount of people who belong to this forum who have been banded and remain alive and well should reassure most of us that this is indeed a rare and tragic occurance.

Where did u get the information that people die from a slipped band ? You Tube really isnt a great place to look for medical accurate information. I understand your concerns but the risks of death from the actual lapband itself from what i have read is less than 1% Any surgery carries risks so the lapband being the fastest and least intrusive of any weight loss surgery is by far the safest option. What i would do is compare what being overwieght in the long term does to your health and the risks one takes remaining obese, my understanding from recent research is that obesity is overtaking cancer as the biggest killer in the western world, to be honest that would be my biggest concern not a small band of plastic that may or may not cause some problems .. If you maintain a good relationship with your surgeon, look after the band in the way that you should and seek medical advice when something isnt right then there is no reason the band wont last you. Some people are unlucky and some neglect the band or themselves so yes problems do occurr but u can minimise these So make a list of questions to ask your surgeon and i am sure you will feel more at ease getting the answers from a medical professional and not somewhere like YuTube

Some of the people who have experienced slips or erosion have done so because their band was not properly maintained. I am not saying all but some went months or years, either being sick too often or never went back for fills or checks and unfortunately things can go wrong if u leave them. My surgeon said that many of the minor complications related to the band are avoidable so it is very important u feel comfortable with your surgeon so that if theres a problem u feel ok to return to him immediately and not let things go. i have absolutely no regrets about this surgery, i am a 100% happy with the lapband and if i ever had to have it removed then i would be gratetful for the help it has given me and wave it goodbye still with no regrets ...

March Bandster Here... Now.. I've Got Some Questions...
Cazzy replied to Bea Benitez's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Gratz on the weight loss so far Bea and please be patient, you havent even had your first fill yet and u have lost 13lbs u are doing great. You can eat red meat just make sure it isnt fatty and that u chew it really well, it is only after u start getting fills u may have difficulties, make sure u buy yourself an expensive sharp knife and cut wafer thin slices of meat and chicken that way u still maybe able to keep eating them. I always have my roast dinner sundays, no potatoes but ( of course i do being english lol ) and manage the meat fine but i cut it with the precision of a surgeon The average weight loss is 1 to 2 lbs per week u are right on target so dont fret and keep moving we all lose at different rates so stop comparing yourself to others and be happy that nasty old diabetes is gone -
All the above advice about calling your band surgeon ASAP is right. No point in second guessing whats wrong get to the man who knows

Introducing Myself And New To This
Cazzy replied to be4chbm's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Welcome to lapbandland and if u need support or help just post a question .. u are doing great so far so keep up the good work ! -
Yes my stomach gurgles which is the same for anyone with gastric surgery, no i dont have reflux or burping unless food is stuck which is rarely .. Its my choice if i chose to put the weight back on, i am in control of what i eat and when, same with anyone who has had gastric surgery. The faster route is a bypass of course but with greater risks from surgery and complications so use the seminar to build up as much info as u can to make an informed decision as to what will be right for you as a busy mum

Good luck Marie and let us know how your surgery went !

Time For The Big Moment
Cazzy replied to marielalora's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Good luck to you all being banded this week ! -
I cannot eat scrambled eggs at all @ short and chunky.. Loneil.. eating and drinking at the same time is a real no no and what you exoerienced is why it is .. I totally agree with elcee u need to follow what u have been told to otherwise you maybe wont be all that sucessful. Some people do manage to drink and eat at the same time but it is rare and if u get the symptoms u got then u need to stop it .. i am sure u havent caused any damage but its really not worth taking risks. Stressing out also causes my band to tighten so u maybe got stuck because of drinking and eating as well as a tighter band .. try not to stress too much ... hope it all works out for you and u get baack on programme with your band

I take Biotin and it helps but if you get thin hair its because of long term dieting and Biotin helps it grow back faster. You need to keep your protein up but theres not much else u can do to prevent it, same as sagging skin you either will get it or you wont. Once you hit maintenance weeight tho it should normalise ..

Awesome.. any help / support i can give just ask .. i know what u are facing cos i been there, seen it, done it and bought the teeshirt

I suggest u read the nutritional nformation of a MacDonalds it might help u crave them less. They are designed to be addictive and it certainly has worked ... cut them out and look at them as the enemy !
