I do all the cooking so what my other half ate was what i had cooked him ! .. i was also a 'couldnt care less what people ate in front of me' .. i bet many of the peoples partners on here could do with losing weight too, my partner he lost 70lbs by just eating what i was eating , bigger portions of course, but this was so much easier with both of us eating healthy, our healthy eating habits need to be passed onto all our family and children before we make the next generation as fat as we are/were.

Gratz to both of you .. i wish you both a speedy recovery and a successful journey

My advice to everyone is READ the LABELS on the food that you are eating ...

Excess Skin After Weight Loss
Cazzy replied to stac7975's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Unfortunately according to my Plastic \Surgeon, u will either get loose skin or u wont and it is dependent on age, genetics and how much weight u have to lose and a lot of other factors to do with how your skin is made up. Better to have loose skin and wear it as a badge of honour in relation to the weight u have lost than a mountain of fat that will never look anything other than how much u have eaten and not exercised.. not my view ofc but generally its people views if you need to lose weight because of health reasons then looose skin should be the last thing on your mind, get used to wearing spandex and hopefully u wont have too much skin to deal with ... unlike me ofc lol -
Good luck for surgery this week i get my TT and arms done on this weekend.. scarey stuff !

It is an emotional rollercoaster at times being banded but what will help balance your emotions is exercise, it is important to release the feel good hormones that sosmetimes we are lacking ... when u feel like u do go for a walk, do that job at home that u have been putting off, just do something that has some sort of reward attached to it other than reaching for food, which i know some emotional eaters would have done. Everyone gets up and down days and being banded and losing weight makes those days a seem more frequent, but think how many days pre-op u felt bad then compare it to how many u feel like now we always tend to think things used to be not as bad as they really were and are often too ready to over scrutinise the here and now .. i agree with the suggestions everfeels makes in her post above ..

If u are eating a lot of sugar free stuff including protein drinks it can have a 'laxative' effect .. i know sugar free foods have like a 'warning' on the packet here that says about laxative effects. Also your body is becoming used to differing nutrition so it may be that it will rebel for a while.. too much yoghurt, too much protein, too much spice the reasons for those episodes can be any number of things so maybe just be aware of them, carry some instant imodium around with u ( or the US equivalent ) and it will pass .. i had a couple of episodes like this too never did work out what the absolute cause was

Life Changes But Still Obcess By Food...
Cazzy replied to sadnessoul's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I think sometimes we have to be obsessed about food and exercise as this is the only way this band will work for us, we have to make it our priority till we are experienced bandsters then what we do almost becomes second nature. I can remember being about 6 months post op and after a lengthy conversation thinking omg i would have been bored listening to u lol so realised that although we have to be obsessed with what we are doing .. others arent. There may also be a little tinge of jealousy with your frineds if they are overweight too.. so try to be more of a friend and less of a bandster , not that u should beat yourself up over it but just being aware will help .. Your weight loss is great, the average should be around 1 - 2 lbs per week so u are well above that, u may very well experience small plateau's but just keep doing what u are doing and ride the plateau wave .. change little things if u want to try and beat a plateau like reduce the carbs one day, do extra exercise, eat a 100 calories more than u normally do.. sometimes small changes can kick start the weight loss again so just keep at it U probably at 10 weeks dont have much restriction yet either so dont beat yourself up, pat yourself on the back and say .. job well done so far, now keep it up !! -

Anyone know of Dr De Bruyne Chris
Cazzy replied to susanlondon's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
Well i never had dr chris do my band i just hang out here as the UK people are here mainly had mine done at Nuffield Hopsital which are soo awesome .. i agree with you tho the information for all lapbanders not just us is actually a game of hit and miss in relation to how that information is shared and so many surgeons disagree with what is right and wrong u have to sort of become your own expert, which is what i did, i know what works for me and what doesnt .. i weigh myself every day , the same as i used to monitor my sugar when i was diabetic every day and initially 2 hours after every meal, to me i would rather know i have put a lb on over night than wait till a week or a month and get a shock .. not weighing ourselves is what got us fat in the first place lol .. so that to me is an example of how i do what I need to do to make this successful .. others will manage their weight loss differently. Celery can be stringy and hard to digest so can stick unless u slice it wafer thin so its translucent .. u can eat it then, bananas not sure why u were told no on them but they are very hard to digest and are full of carbs and sugar so i always avoided them anyways, citrus fruit like oranges are full of sugar fructose raises your blood sugars and can put on weight unless u are very very careful with the calories and carbs being included in your daily allowances .. I know some just eat smaller portions of normal type food and do fine, i was never lucky like that i had monitor everything and exercise like crazy. Might be worth u speaking to Frederik about getting the unfills to maybe allow your pouch to go back to not being dilated .. i would certainly stick to liquids while u are sorting this out tho -
Sounds absolutely right

Urinary Tract Infection After Lap Band Surgery?
Cazzy replied to Sonjasophia98's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The lap band really doesnt have any bearing on your bladder or its functioning, it may well be that because of reduced nutrition or some stress that you were more susceptible to infection as your immune system was low, or it could be that they may have put a catheter in you during surgery, which can introduce infection. Also not to put to finer point on it having sex while your immunity is low can cause some bladder issues ( similar to what they used to refer to as honeymoon disease) .. just drink lots and take your anti biotics u should be fine .. and ofc keep your doctor informed -

Anyone know of Dr De Bruyne Chris
Cazzy replied to susanlondon's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
Well if you read that link i sent u i think u will find that u have to go back on liquids for 2 weeks and cross your fingers as it stands a chance of righting itself. I havent had a band slip or dilate but i like to arm myself with info for those 'just in case' moments 'removing the fluid from the Lap-band and placing the patient on a full liquid diet for one to two weeks can resolve this issue 80% of the time. However, sometimes it recurs' this is what i read u need to do and from what u say is Dr. Chris method too so i would be very dilligent and go back to full liquids for at least a week if not 2 weeks and see if that resolves things for you good luck . -
To me this isnt cosmetic surgery it is a medical need, if you dont go ahead and get WLS what will change in your life, how will you make sure that your inability to lose weight on your own doesnt continue. I saw this as a means to becoming well again, like having a knee replacement to walk again, to me WLS was a medical intervention to get me living again. Its a minor operation that can bring about major change if you are willing to commit to making it work. Personally i dont see it a big decision, all the what if it doesnt work, what if i fail, negative what ifs need to be aired but so do the what if i make this work, what if i am successful, what if this is the best decision i have ever made .. None of your medical problems will improve if you dont lose weight... To me, making the decision to get surgical intervention is the first step, then decide which weight loss surgery is right for you .. or you could always chance to luck and apply to the biggest loser

Sounds like u have a 'dilated' pouch, it means that the band hasnt slipped it is still in the same place it was when placed but your pouch has dilated outwards so it appears to bulge over the top of the band, struggling to find the right descriptive words for you http://drsimpson.net/fills/Lap-band-surgery-support-science/New-lap-bands-unbuckle/New-lap-bands-unbuckle.html u might find the pictures here useful regarding the process if how a band actually ends up slipping hope that helps .. good luck with it ! -
Waiting on all my surgery for this saturday but will definitely keep an eye on things now and get on the phone immediately for some anti biotics if i get a hint of trouble with the scars .. good luck with the healing and i hope your scars heal up soon

sounds like u are doing really well and yes u start to get hungry now till the fills get going ... mushy stage was anything mashed with a fork for me so i would stick with soft proteins like fish etc, side plate of food should be enough and desserts like jelly and greek yoghurt are good, u can add skimmed milk to 0% total yoghurt for a liquid i add a teaspoon of maple syrup to my greek yoghurt .. love it -
Banded 4/23 And Exhausted
Cazzy replied to saras422's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It sounds like you have some degree of food withdrawal and maybe a little depression. Try to make sure your food intakeis blanced nutritionally, not sure what stage u are at post op wise .. are u on mushies ? also u dont mention what exercise u are doing. You need to discuss how u are feeling with the doctor, it may be that u need to get some blood tests done to check thyroid and iron levels etc. Going for a brisk walk can help lift the spirit along with doing other exercise, it may well be that what u are feeling will go away and u will soon feel a lot more energised, but u do really need to discuss this with your doctor -
''I don't drink soda, I drink coffee and Water mostly. I did join a gym in December and I go once in awhile.'' Wilkie i think there might be your problem you may be one of those people that needs to exercise every day to shift those lbs, i know if i miss a day and eat my normal amount of calories that i do every day 1000 - 1200 i can actually put on weight if i dont burn them off. Some people can lose weight from just restricting food only and some cant ... i would step up your exercise and see if those lbs start shifitng ..good luck !
