Getting Discourage. Is This Going To Work For Me
Cazzy replied to loseit's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Sometimes its not the number of fills its the amount of fill they put in, u dont mention how much fill u have in your band, dont get discouraged, the closer u are to the green zone the smallest of fills can make a big difference. This is a slow mo way to lose weight, but slow and steady is good so dont get discouraged go back and get another fill if u need one .. good luck -
Avoid Gaining Weight When With Mushies???
Cazzy replied to Missy05.29.12's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
lots of low calorie/low fat/low sugar mushy food will see u ok .. this time is for healing u 'might' put on weight but its not disaster if u do, be patient with your body and let it heal, then u can go to town on it by exercising it -
I know it seems a long way off but that time will pass quickly, use it to learn as much as u can and get yourself into good shape for surgery .. good luck

Well done to both of you , keep with the positive attitude and determination and u will get thee

Newly Banded. Day 3 Of Post Op Diet
Cazzy replied to AmieRae55's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You did return to work quite early so am not surprised u may have bled a little, just be careful and let your wounds heal before u do anything physical, u might need to just sit as your desk and do nothing clear liquids arent designed to make u feel full, they are designed to help your healing process and not put any stress onto your stomach, you arent alone with feeling the way u do many bandsters intially feel like that .. but all of u need to get into the mind set that this isnt about feeling full, its about giving your body a chance to heal and doing what your doctor advised u to stick with it and it will all work out in the end ... drinking fluids puts no stress on the band so drink away ! A good liquid to help u feel more satisfied is mixing some skimmed milk with some greek yoghurt and maybe some sweetner in it, good for u and protein and u can make as liquid as u need ! it will help fill a hunger hole anyways -
Nice! at least he will have some empathy and be full of good advice

Look at what health problems u will be facing if u dont lose the weight .. having a lapband is classed as a minor proceedure that there is no reason why u should have a dificult time
-
Symptoms are different with everyone who has a slip, in general u may experience a sudden amount of restriction that u never felt before, reflux, pain, sickness slips arent common if u are concerned u should contact your doctor.

Theres a few of us on here who have undergone a TT and other proceedures to help with the excess skin , mine was 3 weeks ago i am doing well, if u have loose skin the only help in reality is surgery ... genetics, weight, age, and how muchinitially weighed etc how much u lose, are all factors in getting loose skin so u may be facing surgery if u cant live with it ... look on the cosmetic surgery forum plenty of pics there too

Another Newbie To The Site
Cazzy replied to Lillybell1's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
If you arent able to eat solid food then u need to return to your doctor, it may well be that u still need some fluid removed from your band. The relief u will feel when u can eat failry normally is worth the effort it will take on your part to restrict yourself on the amount of food u eat. It does sound like u are too tight and that in its self can cause u not to lose weight as u tend to eat more slider foods as this is all u can eat.. good luck .......you need to get back to doctor ! -
Great info to try .. thanks for posting

Great news .. hope the surgery goes well for you ..
-
The damage and physical risks of being obese, constant yoyo dieting and all the life threatening complications that go with obesity far outweigh any complications that the band may have .. to me the lapband is the best thing i have ever done, if ever there are complications i will have it removed .. I love my band

I think a quick phone call to your surgeon may be in order, u may need to get a small unfill if any food is stuck or they may know exactly what the problem is .. good luck ..

Im One Of The Banded Now!
Cazzy replied to Sombra1718's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
you have been cut so yes u will feel pain near the incisions and u have internal stitching which will feel like it pulls sometimes .. just relax all will be fine and what u are feeling is all very normal when u are healing, I am sure if u are very worried a quick phone call to your doctors to ease your mind may help u too -
Anyone know of Dr De Bruyne Chris
Cazzy replied to susanlondon's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
I agree just ask people when u book a fill or ask on here, mostly its common sense but everyone is different so what may be a no no for you isnt one for me and that is why there is no definitive list, there can only be guidelines and some general do's and don'ts. My biggest help is a really sharp tomato knife i got off amazon, made by victorinox i can cut anything up into wafer thin peieces with that knife and it helps so much not to get stuck on any food if u take the time to chop it up really small, i eat salad all the time including celery which a lot of people cant tolerate as it is fibrous, but my knife will cut it with surgical precision to wafer thin slices .. i can eat it no problem then .. i took my knife into hospital with me too when i had my skin surgery, seriously it really helps .. common sense rules on choices of food and follow the do's and don't s -
Maybe You Can Teach An Old Dog New Tricks
Cazzy replied to Jachut's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I think u did right to get some order back to your eating habits now u dont want to ruin your beautiful new tummy do u .. stick with it and start looking into making your own menu up instead of paying someone else -
U can take a yoghurt with you, or a premade protein drink.. planning is essential to keep on track ..
-
I am surprised that your surgeon didnt explain to you that this is a slow weight loss surgery, a lot of people dont really start losing weight till their fills start kicking in maybe on fill 3 or 4 .. was this not explained to you ? the ideal wieght loss with a band is 1 to 2lbs a week The 4 to 6 weeks post op is for healing so dont be in too much of a hurry just concentrate on following your doctors guidelines and healing and starting to exercise when u get the all clear to
-
I dont see anything wrong in increasing your calories for a day a week, i would be concened to eating a large amount on one day tho, how do u get in 3000 calories a day Axa without stretching your pouch or eating unhealthy food .. just curious, not judging

well as life goes on the lapband is one of the smallest foreign bodies u will have to put up with, even crowns on teeth are foreign bodies replacement joints when u get older can often be needed etc etc .. its a tiny peiece of plastic its not really woirth looking at it like that .. i think i have read one person had it removed because of some bodily reaction to it, but thousands have it and no reaction at all so its not a silly question but plenty of other things to worry about in life

I Have Just Had My Lap Band?
Cazzy replied to pargatchand's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I starterd at 400lbs and the only thing i could do at that weight was strength training get some dumbells and resistance bands and sit doignthem while u watch tv or something, then invest in an exercise bike and start off slowly and work your way up from there, do cycling first then strength afterwards. if u start off extremely heavy its hard to do things standing for long periods of time that is why cycling indoors is good for the heavier people .. i lost all my weight and have a rroad bike now too and after i recover from plastic surgery to remove all my excess skin i am looking forward to cycling outdoors again too. You seem to be doing great at losing weight, dont lose focus and start saving up as u will no doubt end up with spare skin .. when u are as heavy as we started out, loose skin is inevitable .. if u need any further help just ask .. good luck -
If you are pre-op get into fizzy water, flavoured if u must .. much better for you that diet soda's which i detest they taste sooo sweet and full of artifical flavourings.. cast them out of your life forever
-
I have gone 3 weeks after a fill then bam it kicks in, no idea why it happens i just accept it does .. several times i was almost at the point of going back and asking for more fill then it kicksed in and i didnt need to ... just accept it happens and be glad u are getting some restriction

Band Really Tight In The Morning/afternoon Then Fairy Loose In The Evening??
Cazzy replied to tiggabounceonyou's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I agree with the above posters a warm drink like tea or weak coffee, if u are allowed , can really help loosen a band in the mornings, try eating a larger dinner of an evening with plenty of protein to stop u snacking, snacking can pile up the calories so i would also consider making a journal of food for a while and monitor how many u are actually eating. Being accountable for what u eat sometimes is enough to stop u eating it .. u dont mention exercise either .. u may need to up that to burn off some of what u are eating ..
