    Weighing ...

Sorry to disagree but i dont see anything wrong in weighing yourself every day, everyone is different but for me i got to 400lbs by not weighing myself there is no way i am going to make that same mistake again. If you feel bad when u weigh yourself u will still feel bad whether u weigh yourself every day or every week.. if i put on a lb overnight i work harder the next day to lose it. the last thing i would want is to get to the end of the week and find i had put on 3 or 4 lbs .. i dont want shocks and i want to be in control of my weight .. the scales like the lapband is a tool, learn to use them correctly and they will help and motivate u not hinder you. I would suggest Rockie that u seek some therapy and get to appreciate the weight u are losing
  2. Yea 3 days sounds good if you like your mum being there also if u need to bend, then use your knees not your back and tummy

    Newbie From Ny....hi! :)

Welcome and use this time to gather as much information as u can about both proceedures, dont forget to research the band with sleeve plication which is a newer proceedure, Making an informed decision is what will help u be successful in the future
  4. I tried phentermine many many years ago and i loved it for what it was, i can remember decorating nearly the whole house in 2 days lol of course i was a lot younger then, but to be honest once u stop taking it your metabolism goes into shutdown and u only have to look at food and u will gain weight. if u struggle just to lose 12 lbs then i can see a use for it but over the long term or with large amounts of weight to lose, steer clear and use the band, u are teaching yourself a new approach to eating , phentermine doesnt do this
  5. Some people here will think of you as lucky getting that amount of restriction after a fill, it depends on you as to whether u think u are too tight or not, not only does our body have to adjust to fills but our minds do too, i could easily think to carry on as before a fill only to get stuck or feel full so quick after a fill. as long as u can drink liquids and get some food down, then maybe change what food u are eating instead of going back to fast for an unfill.
  6. 30 grms of carbs is same as i eat, it is classed as low carb, i only eat low fat or 0% fat stuff so dont count the grms .

    Ice Water For Weightloss ?!?

Being cold and shivering burns calories .. so maybe it does increase your metabolism, i remember all the skinny children at school shivering when we went swimming and having blue lips lol now i know why they were skinny ! I did read on another post that drinking ice cold water will often tighten the band so to drink it before meals

Day One On Pre Op Diet

(I would add maybe some crushed ice to it, the colder a drink is, the less u can taste it
  9. Is it not where your port is located ?
  10. Am exactly the same all my rings that i couldnt wear when i was big, now i cannot wear cos they are too big for me .. except the good news is that i can wear my grandmothers wedding ring which i havent been able to wear for 40 yrs
  11. I am exactly the same with adhesives but the glue i wasnt allergic to.. steri-strips are the worst for me i get blisters underneath them, but its only on my body this happens arms /legs etc are all fine ... I dont seem to be allergic to the dressings like plastic wrap ...

    Here I Go...again!

I am not sure who it was on this forum but there is a firm of legal people that specifically deal with appeals against health insurance denials .. someone on this forum reported using them at some time, i am sure if u google it u may be able to find them, it sounds like u could do with some professional help with your appeal .. good luck !
  14. Just a small concern u seem to have moved onto mushies very quickly given u have a band and plication is this what your doctors guidelines were? and mushies shouldnt really need chewing to be honest. Hopefully this post is redundant as you are following your doctors orders post -op
  15. As long as u can drink liquids and keep them down u will be fine waiting till monday if u have to .. just keep hydrated and amke the appointment as soon as u can
  16. I think its called the vegas nerve , it might be worth looking up, it might also well be that due to the position of your band and this nerve u have to put up with a little discomfort after fills till the fill settles in a bit, its more a nuisance than an unbearable problem, but unless u want another surgery to move the band it might be there arent many answers.. sorry i cant offer any other help .. read up what u can ..
  17. Absolutely .. just concentrate on healing and following the doctors guidelines and hopefully all will be ok for you
  18. I would suggest a health food store as they seem to have a big selection of suppliments.

    Is Lb For Me?

Its a hard call as your bmi isnt that high, the problem is as with any weight loss surgery u do have to dedicate an amount of time to it to make it work whether u have a sleeve, bypass or a lapband. I dont really worry about my band now and probably stopped thinking about it around 6 - 8 months after it was fitted. My lapband has never impacted on my quality of life except by making it better
  21. I totally agree with Jachut, eating back the calories u just burned seems very strange. I maintaained my weight loss by creating a defiecit in calories and i lost weight, maybe u just hit a small plateau .. i stuck to around 1000 calories a day and burned around 600 to 800 every day each week without fail, if i ate more calories i would not lose weight. All the written advice can only be in general and for mrs average, sometimes we just dont fit into their neat little boxes, to eat all those extra clories u are burning each day u may as well not have a lapband to curb your hunger
  22. I had my lapband fitted when my bmi was around 61 like u are having started off at 67 bmi.. all i can tell you is that it took me approx a year to lose the majority of my weight. The issue is that it has been almost a full time job losing this amount of weight, if you have the time and dedication and resolve to go for the lapband then go for it, but if u have time pressures and know u cant dedicate enough time to exercising this weight off too then it might be better for u to go the gastric bypass route. I think the bypass is worth consideration given your circumstances and time constraints even tho i am a real advocate for the band a lapband wont stop u eating chocholate

    Need To Fix Myself.

I think this happens to a lot of people you mentally are close to goal and so your resolve relaxes a little .. i was the same and still are, except now i am in maintenace as i had to really push myself to lose those last few lbs, now i can fluctaute a little up and down and as long as my base weight stays the same each week i enjoy my food and dont worry about it .. get to goal then relax a little .. good luck to you both !
  24. On any unfill a doctor will not put back what he took out, even if its only a few weeks earlier u had the unfill. They will not take the chance to make u stick again and will therefore proceed cautiously. My doctor is great with fills i can go anytime to him but when i had a 1 cc removed because of being too tight he would only put back 0.25 each time i went .. i am glad of his caution and if u are going away the last thing u would need is to ruin that trip by being too tight again or starting the night reflux again .. if you have a slipped band before the last thing u want to do is chance it happeneing again and being too tight will increase the chances as once it has slipped u must be even more cautious to avoid it happening again. You are lucky in some sense as some doctors try to resolve a slipped band by removing all the fill and u having to go on liquids for a few weeks be patient a few lbs on the scale is worth putting up with versus having more problems with your band.. good luclk !
