    What Do They Mean?

It will get better and probably in a few weeks u will wish you had that restriction back .. just follow the doctors rules and u should be ok

One Day I Can Eat..the Next I Cant

Its PB'ing which stands for productive burping which is in effect regurgatitng food that is stuck above the band and wont go through the gap to your main stomach, it is normally in association with a lot of slimey saliva which is a reaction created by the oesophagus to help shift the blocked food ..

    What Do They Mean?

Just follow the guidelines your doctor gave u and sip small amoiunts of water as often as u can, good luck with the appointment and write down what u need to ask.. i am sure it will all be ok I just realised that POD 6 is post op day 6 ? if so what are u eating ? surely u are on liquids at the moment
  8. I would say around a week to 9 days too ...

    Food

You are sort in a place called 'bandster hell' u have a lapband but very little restriction as yet, u will need to get some fills done in order to start feeling the band more, meanwhile as someone said u just have to white knuckle this time count the calories and exercise according to your doctors guidelines for post - op , i am very surprised that so many people seem to be less informed about post op situations like this than i would have thought. It should be explained to everyone getting banded that most dont feel any restriction at all once they are healed and wont do untill a few fills have been done, it is also not a quick weight loss route, this is a slow steady process that will take some time for you to learn to use the band and for you to change your eating habits. Take your time and just watch what u eat, use this time to learn to eat properly, chew weel, portion sizes etc .. u will be ok just give it all time

Chick Fil A Saved The Day!!!

Sounds like a good option if u need to stop

    Am I Normal?

You dont mention how many fills u have ... it is quite likely that u are not at restriction yet and therefore wont be losing much weight, although u have lost a decent amount. Dont be in a hurry u can only go at the pace the band was designed for this is a long term weight loss system not a quick one like a bypass, just watch what u eat and exercise, once u get a few more fills under your belt then u might start dropping weight quicker
  12. Might have been an idea to ask him why he was leaving when he told u he was

    Stretched Pouch?

Totally agree i took around 5 to 6 fills to get to my sweet spot and not be hungry so much and eat smaller portions .. just be patient things will change with more fills

One Day I Can Eat..the Next I Cant

Quite often if someone is tight and pb'ing a lot it is not uncommon to put on weight, thats because we get so desperate not to pb that we tend to eat more slider foods, also if you pb a lot this will make u swollen and the band will be tight for more time. I suggest u go back on a liquid diet for a few days and let your band and tummy settle down then introduce slowly mushies and then normal food again. u are caught in a cycle of pb'ing and swelling at the minute and it needs to change. After u go back onto normal food then decide if you need a slight unfill. TMF is right too keep....... a food journal are u burning more calories than u are consuming because exercise is very important to the majority of us to lose weight, if u dont create a deficit then the scales wont budge ! good luck ..

    So Mad At Myself

Firstly u need to bypass this starvation mode thoughts, none of us are anywhere near starvation mode, this would require weeks of sustaianed low calorie intake of around 300 to 400 calories ... given our weights this is just not happeneing. Honk is right, a lot of protein shakes have hidden clories and protein shakes were designed as a suppliment not meal replacement, there are other things out there that replace meals that contain other nutrients for example the atkins ones Count the calories and exercise and make sure there is a deficit, u will eventually start losing again, other factors could very well be, different scales and some fluid retention .. maybe from something salty u ate the night before Here in the UK and over in Australia they really dont push protein shakes and we manage fine ... good luck and dont give up post -op for around 6 weeks can be a strange time weight wise ...

    Possible Slipped Band?

I have to say u need to return to your bariatric surgeon, this may not be a slip as u dont have any fill, it could be a number of other problems, the expense isnt worth your health so u need to go back and sort this problem out.

    On The Fence

To me the increased risks with a gastric bypass outweighed the faster weight loss u get with a bypass, the band worked for me and i worked for the band, the band requires more input from you and may not help on the head hunger ... I can however have the band removed if i have problems, i get it adjusted when i need to so have on going contact with my doctor and its a much smaller and less risky surgery.. good luck in your decision but only you will know what is right for you ..
  18. I needed all those things done too, i went for what was affecting me on a daily basis in relation to how i felt in clothes .. Although i had a brachioplasty and a full TT with body lift 5 weeks ago the one i would have chosen first was the TT, i had a 360 degree one, my clothes never sat right on top of the excess skin on my tummy and it made me a lot hotter temperature wise ... its gone now and it feels great .. brachioplasty would be my second choice as in the summer your arms are on show all the time .. next i will get my thighs done as i want to go swimming again and finally i may or may not get my breasts done .. they are easily manipulated to looking good in a great bra and i can live with that the longest good luck !

    Starting Over

One of the biggest reasons for people gaining weight back is not going back to your surgeon and giving up on a lifestyle that was helping u lose weight .. i.e exercising .. I have noticed that so many people on here that fall off the bandwagon do not return to their doctors, for some of us, its essential we keep this contact up as it helps keep us accountable ... being accountable for our weight and health and success helps us in the long term ... All cudos for you for having the courage to return to your surgeon and start this process again .. wishing u good luck

    Wondering

Your port is sewn on top of muscle .. it will stick out some .. ports do that ! (after all they are around an inch high unless u have a low profile one put in) .
  21. You may not feel like u have restriction but u have a band around the top half of your stomach there will be some restriction even if u dont feel it, be careful what u eat whether u have fills or not .. eat like u can feel restriction and u wont cause any problems. Salad can be a difficult solid to get down and the feeling u got may well be u were full, so sounds like u do have some restriction

    Totally Discouraged :(

I agree with Mis I know counting calories is a pain but if u arent losing weight what choice do u have, how do u know u are creating a defecit in your calories eaten and burned if u arent counting them. Your lack od restriction needs to be investigated, I certainly would go back to the surgeon and get your band checked out, it may be u have a small slow leak, your band may have come undone.. rare but possible, you may not have as much fill as u think u have, could be any number of reasons, there are a very small group of people who never feel much restriction at all however much fill they have, but u need to discount all the other problems before your sirgeon can decide if this is your issue .. good luck with it ...

    Comorbidities

I think the clue to what a co-morbidity is is in the title, it has to be something that if left untreated out of control could lead to your demise i.e it affects your mobidity, or its something that if left untreated wouuld cost the insurance company vast sums of money U need to find out if they have ever funded WLS and what the criteria for it is, they may do a general NO we dont do it, but u need to find out if there are excepetions
  24. he probably wont fill u straight away but who knows maybe he will, only he knows what he will do good luck and let us know if u need any support !
  25. Well i have to admit i was a smoker since the age of 40 yrs i was asked to cut out smoking prior to my lapband surgery and the week before i did virtually stop smoking, i used patches and a plastic cigarette. I knew that there were increased risks with surgery and the to be honest the most dangerous side effect of smoking and surgery is DVT u are far more prone to it as a smoker, also coughing afterwards hurts like hell .. but i got through it fine, i am not advocating smoking and a lapband as it obviously is better that u dont smoke, i could not give up just because someome told me too, i have to do it for myself, smoking helped me lose all the weight i did , but i will not be an advocate for smoking. Fast forward to this year, i knew i would be having extensive cosmetic surgery to remove all my excess skin, so it was no shock when the plastic surgeon said no way will she do this surgery while i still smoke, i agreed to give up smoking .. i had to be smoke free 1 month before surgery and 13 weeks ago i gave up smoking using Champix and 11 weeks ago was my last cigarette. I was 11 hours in surgery and i know that i recovered as well as i did because of not smoking. I had so much weight to lose i didnt think i could give up smoking and eating at the same time and it hasnt been easy even after i lost all the weight to give up, but now i have and it feels so much better. Dont get me wrong i still miss smoking but i know i cant afford it health wise or money wise a pack of cigarettes in the UK will cost u at least $12 per 20 ... give it up if can its worth it in the long run
