15 Days Out And Having Some Problems....
Cazzy replied to missband-it's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
It can take up to 6 weeeks to recover from surgery, rest as often as your body tells u to, eat what your doctor has advised u to and maybe take some multi vitamins etc, everyone feels tired for a length of time post op ... you are just healing so dont push it and it will eventually get better... -
When Do Sani Strips Come Off
Cazzy replied to akurre12's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
They will fall off eventually, they dont normally fall off in one go tho, they sort of curl at the edges and gradually come off as u shower each day. U can cut the loose bit off to save it catching on anything .. but sometimes they just dont budge till they are ready to -
Nice work on the thighs i bet u are really pleased .. my thighs will have to be done year, and its surgery not lipo way too much skin left on my legs .. wishing u a speedy recovery ..

Appendectomy Similarities
Cazzy replied to puppyphat's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
There is probably more discomfort because of the band being around your stomach but pain i would definitely put on a par with other keyhole surgery, i likened mine to have a wisdom tooth out.. the gas be painful for some people and some dont recover well from surgery, some of it will be up to you as to how u recover .. i am sure u will be fine tho -
I agree.. walk a mile in my shoes comes to mind

What a nightmare Jim .. hope it all works out for you

You will find that as u begin to get healtheir and lose weight and not be eating junk food etc etc , u wont be anywhere near as prone to catching bugs /flu than u were believe me Bands do not slip that often, and mostly its due to sustained vomiting/regurtitation over a much longer period of time than a short illness, bands can slip with a bad bout of vomiting, but its more likely because the band is too tight and there is a longer history of regurgitating food on a regular basis .

What Is The Mimimum Bmi Requirement To Be Eligible For Private Gastric Band Surgery? Is It 28 (As I've Heard) If There Are Other Comorbidities?
Cazzy replied to nellietheelephant's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Is our English that obvious Honk lol -
There are quite a few people on here that feel that level of restriction and have never even had a fill, its unusual yes, but many would see this as giving u plenty of margin to get more fills in the future if u need to, so a real positive
-
It might be that u could be eating slightly too much in one go and the food is slow to go down into your main stomach, i had this a couple of times over the past few weeks and i can tell its because i was feeling very full. Also eating highly flavoured spiced/salty/fatty food can all add to the problem, try having 5 smaller meals a day and not eating anything acidic like fruit too .. It migh tbe also that u need a small unfill, if u are concerned go back to your dooctor and discuss with him Colds create a lot of mucus so could be your pouch is struggling a little with that too ..
-
Because u have no fills or restriction the chance of a band slip even if u do get a stomach bug are very rare, the band is stitched into place and 3 weeks is enough time for those stitches ( or staples ) to have bedded themselves in.. this does happen and people do get sick, if u are very concerned contact your doctor otherwise just take all precautions that u would anyways

The mortality rates from Obesity related illnesses far outweigh those of surgery.. The lapband has a great safety record, i was 400lbs when i started this journey and 56 yrs old, if anyone was going to die on an operating table i was a good candidate, but here i am over 200lbs lighter and just been through 11 hours of cosmetic surgery in one operation, and i never felt better. Its easy to sit thinking that we wont survive, but u wont survive being obese either, instead of keep thinking what if i die what if i die, try and think ... but what if i live

New Here...learning About The Lap Band Process
Cazzy replied to l_trout's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I have to disagree with some of the above posters comments, its media hype and simply not true that .. ' a lot of people in Europe are having the band removed' all i can say is, dont believe everything u read in a newspaper or watch on tv... There are people who just arent susccessful with the lapband, but equally there are people who arent with a bypass or sleeve, its a personal choice and one should make it based on advice from your surgeon, knowledge and information and knowing how u are and what level of committment u can give the band. If you want to continue eating food as described as above then maybe the lapband isnt for you, if u want to change your eating habits and get back to being healthy and eating healthy then go for a band.. If my band ever needs removing i have learned my lessons in life regarding eating and portion size and exercise ... it will be hard but the weight is off now, it isnt going to come back Yes we might have a foreign object in our bodies, but so do people with joint replacements etc, its that or having half your stomach cut away and your intestines re-routed .. to me i start at the bottom of a risk list , not at the top good luck and hope u can make your decision that suits you -
Bladder Infection 10 Days Pre-Op???
Cazzy replied to familygirl's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
U should be good to go if u have taken the full course of anti-biotics before u have surgery, its not like its a GYN operation, so mention it ofc but dont worry about it i am sure u will be fine and get your band done -
If You Had To Choose Just One...
Cazzy replied to Jenn1214's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
I ued to have very large boobies and i hated them, they were fun when i was younger but got in the way more and more now i am older, they do need lifting, but i can lift by other means , like a great bra and they are still a 36 DD so not flat yet lol, so i still say tt for most unless its a boobie reduction then i would go for that .... -
You dont mention any exercise .. are u doing any ? maybe your metabolism has slowed down and u need to give it a kick start, sometimes just eating low calories isnt enough .. i have to exercise 7 days a week and i am in maintenace now, i will keep the exercise up as i am determined to remain fit and healthy and not put any weight back ..some days p-riot to my surgery to remove my excess skin i was cycling 25 miles a day, now i am starting to build up again post -op and am currently on 10 miles a day ...

Good to hear your fill went well, as u lose weigth your band will often loosen up a little from the loss of visceral fat around the stomach, so dont be too quick to dismiss another fill in 6 weeks, u will probably need it
-
The most usual way u gain weight is by eating more calories than you are burning and people who are pb'ing a lot or getting food stuck a lot tend to try and eat something and that normally is slider food and not so good on the calories ... i can have a really bad day and eat more than i should, i am some fluid missing from my band due to recent cosmetic surgery, but if i burn it off i dont put on weight .. the math is simple really, create a deficit and u dont put on weight ..

Noooo it didnt offend anyone my response was just a little tongue in cheek.. dont get too serious

Help---Feeling Like I Am Gonna Throw Up
Cazzy replied to ☠carolinagirl☠'s topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Sounds like it was the protein shake ... maybe change what ones u are using, u wont damage the band just by an odd moment of sickenss but best to avoid it if u can .. -
So did u have a bypass ?
-
I do weigh daily but only record my weight once a week. I sometimess find that if we have done really well eating and exercising for a few days u sort of get a delayed reaction on the scales, not always, and if u have eaten too much it might not show up for a day or two, just one of the mysteries of life i think

Good luck and wishing u a speedy recovery ..
