What u have to look at is .. are u losing weight at your current level of calorie intake ? You might not like what u have been told by you surgeon but maybe they are basing that number on your history, exercise etc, none of us know how many calories u should be eating and our estimates will be guess work... Maybe they are trying to kick start u losing more weight than u have been.. if u dont trust your surgeon and his staff then u shouldnt have gone there, i was on 600 calories a day pre-op and that was enough to keep me fed and watered for 10 weeks ... u wouldnt be on more calories than around a 1000 if u had a bypass, u can eat well on that so try it and see

2 And Half Post Op....kinda Down
Cazzy replied to f1stborn's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
When did u get banded, when did u have your last fill, we cant help you unless u give us a little more info -
Some of the statistics that are available for slippage and erosion will not reflect the input some people had to their own downfall, some people didnt go to see their surgeon for a long time and then go back once the problems occur, some over ate with the band put weight on and made the band tighter again with visceral fat, and that can cause slippage or erosion. Of course there is a chance , as with any surgery, something will go wrong as with the gastric bypass or the sleeve, the main thing is is to not take any chances with the band and it is essential that u keep it maintained, by at least 1 x yearly check up with your surgeon. Minimising the risks can help prevent problems but we all have to accept that life doesnt give us guarantees on anything, what is guaranteed is the obesity related illness u are facing if u dont do something about your weight .. It would be like having a car, driving it everyday and not having it serviced, eventually it will go wrong . I do understand some people lose their insurance and are unable to afford to get their band checked , but again statistics can only reflect numbers rarely do they reflect the causes

My Doctor Failed To Alocate The Filling Port
Cazzy replied to riro's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Did he say what difference 2 weeks will make ? .. sorry but this just doesnt sound right, is he a very experienced surgeon ? does he normally do his own fills .. u need to ask a lot more quqestions than what u seem to have done , u are paying his wages through your insurance i would arm yourself with a lot more questions written down to take with you next time in case it happens again. I know sometimes it can be intimidating and u can feel vulnerable when u are laying there but this is a serious issue if he cant fill you, it will render the band pretty useless ... -
Camping On Weekends, Help With Food Ideas?
Cazzy replied to meyouus's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I would make tuna your friend if u can, mix with some lemon juice and black pepper or some 0 fat mayo with salad .also minced turkey burgers anuything that u can lightly grill so it doesnt dry out, also i know some people eat tinned chicken ? we dont get that in the uk so not sure on that one, premade shakes maybe or protein bars, some almonds will help the snacking .. some ham too if u can cut thin or buy some thin ham i eat smoked salmon for protein as i love it -
Soooo Depressed And Ready To Give Up...
Cazzy replied to nipper75's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
When people get an unfill for various reasons the doctors very unlikely to have filled it up to the same level again, most doctors proceed with caution and although u may have a similar amount i bet u have room for more, which is what it sounds like u need. Also WW is pretty good, but can contain a lot of salt so be cautious on the salt intake and reduce your calories if the points system isnt working .. i didnt do ww but used an odd frozen meal in an emergency, but i do have a ww tomato soup every day before my dinner and thagt helps fill me up ..it has worked for me anyways i have had soup every day for over a year and half and always feel satisfied after my dinner -
Question- Liquid Diet To Normal Diet
Cazzy replied to GodsTyro's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
A lot of people do gain during that transition time and have to either severely restrict their intake of food or start burning it off, it is why its called bandster hell, u will have little or no restriction until the fills start kicking in so most of it will be down to sheer willpower ... -
My Doctor Failed To Alocate The Filling Port
Cazzy replied to riro's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
demand an x ray or flourascope .. his responsibility not yours to solve this problem -
my doctor said fine to drink tea and coffee and i drink it as and when i want it, i dont make it strong tho and i dont drink it black always with skimmed milk.. it suppresses my appeetite nicely i use it as a filler in between meals and to relax my band first thing in the morning .. The advice should come from your doctor so just do as they say and u should be fine .. we all react differently to caffine, i would say the caffine in soda drinks is worse for u as it is there as an additive.

there is always a time when we miss certain things we had to give up, stay with it and u will find u will get more expert at feeding yourself and enjoying food again, the food and nutrition forum here is a good resource especially the what did u eat today thread, also google is your friend, make this a mission in life to find some food to eat u do like, that is band friendly and good for you .. remember concentrate on what u can eat not what u cant !

I have the same problem with my face, everyone around me says u look ok, but i look in the mirror and see lines, my fatter face i feel definitley looked younger, i am thinking of a mini face lift next year as i find it really hard to look at myself in the mirror. If i put weight back on i bet it wouldnt go on my face where i want it

Are You Prepared For The Consequences Of Your Blessings?
Cazzy replied to shrcumm's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Peoples reactions to my amount of weight loss have been extremely positive, its my reaction that has been less than positive at times, its wierd that i have all these positives in my life now i have lost weight and yet i still have days that the positivity leaves me. I have a wonderful DH and plastic surgeon, who took 9lbs of skin off me and yet days can still be filled with self loathing over the state of my body and what i have done to it over the years. You solve one problem and find another to concentrate on, i dont know if its due to the amount of weight i lost but once i lost the weight, then my loose skin was an issue , i get rid of 9lbs of skin and now the skin on my legs is annoying me, once i have them done next year i am sure i will find something else to concentrate on, i am sure the others who have lost weight and had plastic surgery know what i am talking about. I am not worried about friends or family's reactions anymore i am more concerned over my reactions to me, why wasnt i this critical over me when i was obese .. Some of living with this weight loss is about the emotional changes not just the physical, i would have to get out of my life anyone that wasnt supportive to me as i just wouldnt want that negativity in my life .. -
one fill is unlikely to give u much restriction at all, many of us didnt really feel it till fill number 4 or 5 so just be patient and hang on in there, try to make good choices and keep getting those fills. Many people let loose a little on vacation, its not a step back , just a bump in the road

Its easy to concentrate on what you cant eat instead of finding new food to enjoy that u can eat. All WLS will make eating food difficult, i basically can eat what i want to now, that doesnt include junk food as i have never liked it, but i hardly think of the band now, i have a super sharp knife and am expert at slicing anything as thin as paper, and it doesnt get stuck. You dont mention how long u have been banded or what food u are missing .. we might be able to help a little more if u give a bit more information.

According to research, and i think Alex mentioned this, your body can only metabolise around 25 to 30 grms of protein at any time so be careful not to overload your system, some people will be ok having an intake of protein that big, but i had type 2 diabetes and if u eat too much protein it metabolises into glucogen and will be stored as as fat , .. it sounds good to experiement and make something that u can tolerate but be aware that amount in one go might not be the greatest method to get your daily intake in
-
You dont mention what exercise you are doing, i can totally and probably many here can , empathise with those last few stubborn lbs that just wont shift. I had to increase my exercise by at least half again in order to get rid of the last 25 lbs, it slowed down to around a 1lb a week sometimes 2 lbs but never the 3lbs a week i was used to. Change something small, do more strength training, just make sure u are burning more calories than u are eating.. try reducing carbs a little, increase protein, etc, increase daily intake by a 100 calories ... change something little and dont give up, just see it as a problem that needs solving and that isnt going to beat u, .. it will eventually come off if u are determined enough ... small changes can lead to small differences and that has helped me throughout this

i have worn discs in my back and still even now have trouble standing for long periods, which is why i got an exercise bike, sitting down and exercising might not burn as many calories but u can keep going a lot longer if u have back trouble, also sit down and get yourself some dumbells, its amazing how mush strength traianing can burn the clories too, it also helps to keep your metabolism ticking over, and it wont strain your back at all .. Am glad to hear u got a nice new treadmill, and omg watch those hormones.. i had an awful time weight wise in the menopause so it could just be that keep going something will change eventually

i needed too but then i did lose a significant amaount of weight, i was also 58 yrs old, my skin was never going to recover, nothing is written in stone, some young people will get loose skin most not, some older ones will get loose skin some not, age, genetics and amount of weight lost has significant impact on loose skin, but not always

Ache Like Stich In My Left Side
Cazzy replied to wenzz's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Perfectly normal.. u are still healing from surgery so u will feel small stitch like pains ... -
no not that i had to, but then my doctor doesnt do liquids after a fill anyways, he just says be careful.. which for me works as my band only kicks in fill wise around 2 weeks afterwards so going on liquids straight away would seem a little pointless, i recenlty had 1 mls taken out for my skin removal surgery nothing at all to do afterwards, can i ask why u having 2 cc taken out ?

My Tummy Has A Monster In It.
Cazzy replied to RobinGirl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It is one of the pleasure in being banded that we suddenly develop a body that is capable of making noises u never even dreamed of.. welcome to banderland -
Good to hear u are doing well. Wishing you a speedy recovery

Its a really good idea for people who need that kind of help, having the right foods in the house to eat really does help plan and maintain your food intake. Not having the wrong foods in the house stops the snack attacks , i know if i kept stuff in the house i shouldnt eat, i would have a hard time not eating it
