I have prune juice to keep things moving, or sometimes just stewed prunes, they are a natural remedy and taste really nice, full of fibre and no chemicals.

Your story here could have been my story, i never realised how much of a rollercoaster emotional ride this would be, everytime i fix something on my body like my weight, my tummy, my arms, my back my tummy muscles, i find something else to hate about myself. I am exactly the same as u, the weight went from the face and now i see every line, without even thinking last time i was at my hospital appointment to see my plastic surgeon for my recent surgery check up, we were talking thighs next, i have a lot of loose skin there too so then i mention a mini face lift .. DH, after we got outside was like when did u decide on that so i said everytime i look in the mirror, then he says and after that whats next, do u really know when to stop.. and i was like mentally i know to stop but emotionally how can i have nothing to strive for anymore and just be satisfied with what i got .. YOur pics are of a beautiful woman who is obviously very much loved .. if u find an answer to this problem we have let me know .. huggs

Isnt it strange how things like tea and coffee in the UK are allowed and to my knowledge that seems pretty much across the board here with all different surgeons. I never drink it strong and i always add a good slug of milk, maybe the US surgeons think if they give u permission to drink coffee u will get to drink starbucks ( or another make ! ) non stop all day long lol etc ... Now i would have died without my cups of hot tea

Not Sure If I Wanna Tell My Family And Friends
Cazzy replied to knknosmom's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If u feel the need to tell them, tell them afterwards, u can say its done now, lets move on -
I drank tea and coffee from day 1 with skimmed milk .. for the protein at least
-
I think there may be 2 problems at work here, firstly and i say this with caution as it doesnt affect everyone but some people it does, to eat that much protein in one sitting may be way too much for your body to metabolise. The body can only do around around 25 to 30 grm of protein in one go any more and it metabolise this as glucogen and store it as sugar, not this doesnt affect everyone and some can eat loads of protein and it not affect them but some it does, especially if u have or were close to type 2 diabetes, If you follow what your nutritionist told u , its around 20 grms per meal with an odd protein snack inbetween . Secondly not everyone metabolism fits into those numbers that have been written down for RMR and BMR there is no way i would have lost weight on that many calories a day even when i was 400lbs. I started off for 10 weeks at just 600 a day and went up to 1000 calories a day post surgery, i , similar to highland lost steadily for over a year to hit my goal weight i had 3 weeks out of all those weeks where i lost nothing other than that every single week i lost weight till i had lost 237 lbs. There are always exceptions to rules and u may be one of them, i did cycling everyday 7 days a week along with strength training and gradually as i losrt weight i just did more of the same thing, never really hit a plateau and never really stopped losing. You maybe eating the wrong calories like too much protein too many carbs or fat or sugar or u may just be consuming too many of them, u wilol do yourself no harm at all by dropping them for a week or 2 and see how u go, we need to become our own experts, nutritionists are a great resource but like all things they sometimes arent always right

This would be my fear for anyone getting breast reduction half way through their weight loss journey, but as i said previously it may well be that u have very little fat in your breasts, which can be checked out with a mammagram in which case u wont lose much at all when u lose more weight Just proceed with caution and make sure u ask the PS all the questions relevant to your weight loss journey and the effects on a breast reduction expert advice is nearly always the best !
-
The only thing against having breast reduction before you are at goal weight is that u may lose more than u bargained for when u lose weight and hit goal, i always had a large bust but i lost nearly all my weigh from them. I know how much of a pain large breasts are and i understand fully why u want them done but i would just be worried that u will have a reduction then if u lose more weight u will lose more size on your chest, but that is something to speak to the plastic surgeon about i suppose it all depends how much fat you carry in your breasts good luck with it anyways, i shall have my lift on my breasts next year as i have gone from large breasts to quite saggy ones now .. ugh ( but then i am a lot older )

Had First Fill Last Week, Painful Bruising!
Cazzy replied to BLING78's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I agree probably nothing to worry about at all, did u have a numbing injection first? these can sometimes cause bruising .. -
Sounds like u need another fill, u can still eat a fair amount it sounds like, but try to restrict the amounts getting more fills should help this. Dont beat yourself over the nice trip u had, just learn from it and get that next fill sorted .

How Could I Be Gaining Weight Again!! ;-(
Cazzy replied to karibensea's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I would say that given what u describe the weight gain is probably hormonal more than anything else. The female body is notorious for putting on weight at this time and u will have to be even more careful what u eat till it selttles down, You may find also that due to a decrease in hormone levels that u will need to exercise a little more maybe just do some dumbells while sitting watching tv it still burns calories .. not to do exercise only works if u can still lose wieght without it, but if u are stuck or gaining a bit u have to change something. I remember putting on a ton of weight during the change and u sore it all around your tummy and thighs ... just work a little harder u may find thats all u need to do .. good ;luck -
Wishing u all getting banded today good luck and a speedy recovery
-
I think the others are right dont beat yourself up over it and today is a new day . What i would say is learn from the experience tho and if u do feel like being naughty or cheating or need something to eat make it a healthy one, always keep SF jello in the frige made up, i have sf jello made with water and one made with skimmed milk in the fridge at all times, i make 3 pints of each at a time lol it lasts a long time but not only me eats it, keep greek yoghurt around, with a treat a teaspoon of maple syrup. If u do end up having something that isnt healthy u have 1 inch only or 1 teaspoon, that way u can get your guilty pleasure without feeling too guilty afterwards

How Much Did You Get On Second Fill?
Cazzy replied to angelblessed's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Thats like asking how long is a peice of string Some doctors only put in 0.5 cc per visit others can put in much more, some people didnt have a fill when they had surgery and had to wait till their first fill, some like u did, it really is so different for eveyone here its hard to even come up with an average number. I must admit that some NP do say these things and dont realise how literal their clients will take it. The fills should be based on what u need and most doctors will err on the side of caution. just take it that u will eventually get your fills and get the restriction u need so no point in worrying about it now .. Good luck -
Judy if u do think u are a little tight dont get 1cc removed get 0.5 cc if u need to as we get nearer full restriction small amounts impact a lot more than u think they will, i was having 0.25 cc in the end near my fill level so if u are still eating and drinking ok, but just have some problems then try for the 0.5cc it will often work, and dont forget as u lose weight the band will often loosen anyways

I dont understand where does it say 'all' of us never felt hungry post -op ? This time post -op is for healing, follow your doctors guidelines over what to eat and when and u will heal fine, but being hungry is part of the healing process, i would say that most of the people felt hungry post -op except for a lucky few that felt some restriction when they awoke from surgery. Be patient and give yourself time to heal, untill u maybe start getting a few fills u may very well feel hungry till then, some actually do gain a small amount of weight. If u dont want to gain weight when u are back on solid food u may need to restrict what u eat and start exercising. This is why this period is called bandster hell, u have a band but little or no restriction. I would suggest u discuss how u are feeling with your doctor when u return to see him and maybe see a nutritionist too.

Not Really Losing Much Weight
Cazzy replied to gwinnyb's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
If this is your first fill it sounds like u are doing fine, you will be able to control your appetite more and maybe lose more quickly once u get a few more fills under your belt. What i have said and said before, u need to slice meat wafer thin, so u can almost see through it, i dont cheew my food nearly enopugh sometimes, i still forget even now, but because i use my sharp knife and cut as thin as possible i dont get stuck, i can eat chicken, celery steak all the things that some get stuck on, celery i can slice up like a lace curtain u can see through it and it goes down. Once u get more restriction i am sure u will feel more satisfied -
6 Yrs....160 Lbs Less Of Me!
Cazzy replied to SteveFrett's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
And many doctors are wrong :) It is coming to light that one of the biggest problems with the band is age, the older we are evidently the more we are able to commit ourselves to making the band work .. who knows there is exceptions to every rule and every average ... Grats Steve awesome job on the weight loss. -
Some docotors are 6 weeks, some say 3 months , mine was 6 months .. u will need to ask
-
I chose to spend overnight in the hospital, the nurses 3 of which had had lapbands themselves were full of information and tips for me, i was very grateful for the extra info and support Returning to work will depend on how long it takes u to recover and how sedate your job is, sitting at a desk u might get away with returning to work earlier than when u have a physical type job.
