August Bandsters How are you Doing So Far
Trish2U replied to MissNilsa's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hi I have a new problem in the last two months. I was banded in August and have lost 45 lbs and things are going pretty well. HOWEVER... At first I noticed that I had skin flaking from my stomack skin...now I noticed that my boobs are also having flaking skin. To be clear, there is no itchiness or red skin.. just the flakey skin. It disappears when I rub moisturerizer on the area. I always moisurize after showers and baths and have never had this problem before. No other part of my body is affected; I don't have dander problems either. Anyone have any ideas or have had this problem before. I think I am drinking enough fluids...maybe not? I'd really appreciate some help. -
A place for bandsters in their 60's

Hi Foxy Gramma and all you other "60ites", I am here and just had my third adjustment today. I am losing weight slowly but surely. I have lost 35 lbs since I gained my new "band friend" in August. I have been able to eat just about everything as long as I eat slowly and wait a bit between bites. I hope this continues because it makes life easy and causes no problems for me. Happy Thanksgiving to all. Trish -

I found a great 60 plus thread and now I can't find it again. How do I get there:help:

HI I was banded 6 weeks ago and I have been hungry this past week. I try to eat very few carbs so I won't crave...ie Head Hunger...foods that are not low carb and high in protein. On solid foods, I eat chicken thighs, cottage cheese and fillet of fish and beef. Very small amounts of veggies so far. When I was on mushies, I ate lots of chicken salad, tuna salad, egg salad, No fATcottage cheese, and a mixture of skim ricotta cheese, tomato sauce and low fat muzzerella cheese baked for 30s in the microwave. I do eat 4 SF popscicles everyday. Only 15 cal. each and they satisfy my sweet tooth. Now I have no restriction and can eat any food I have tried. My first fill will be next week. I have lost 30 lbs in the past 6 weeks and I am thrilled with that. I hope things get easier after a fill or two.

I have learned from my doc that the body can use only 20g of protein at a time so you need 20g 3times a day. I found Unjury chocolate with skim milk and 1t of low sugar Peanut Butter and 1/2 banana in a blender made a delicious shake. I always added 8-10 ice cubes to the heavy duty blender and had a frosty. ...about 380 calories or less. Unjury also has a chicken soup protein mix. 100 calories ...no carbs...no sugar. ...tastes great. You can order online.

August Bandsters How are you Doing So Far
Trish2U replied to MissNilsa's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hi It's great to read about how others banded in August are doing. I learn so much from reading these boards. I was banded August 1st and I have been on solid foods for a week. It's like rediscovering how WONDERFUL food really tastes. I have not had any big problems and I am much happier banded than I was unbanded. Liquids and mushies were tough to get through but all that is forgotten now. I have an APS band. Can anyone give me any information about it? I have not had a fill yet...next Tuesday will be my first fill. I am hungry now with no restriction so I am hoping the fill will help. Some say it will take 3 or 4 fills to find the sweet spot with the APS band. I have lost 30 lbs and have another 100 to go. Good Luck to all of you and Congratulations on being "Over the Band" Trish:) -
Count me in although I am starting late. I can commit to walking for 21 days. Trish

Hi I found a protein mix shake I love. It's Unjury chocolate. I mix it with skim milk and add a teaspoon of natural peanut butter and a 1/4 of a banana blend well and add ice cubes to make a frosty. Plenty of protein and smooth. Trish

A place for bandsters in their 60's
Trish2U replied to Oregondaisy's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hi I am almost 65 and I was banded Aug.1, 2007. I wanted to lose 132 lbs. when I investigated lap band surgery. I hope that is not wishful thinking. I have lost 23 lbs since the preop diet which started July 22. I am afraid to go on the scale again and find that I have gained it back. I am now on "mushies" and the doctor said most people don't lose during those 3 weeks and maybe even gain some because there is no restriction yet. The important thing is to heal and more losing will start after my first fill on Sept. 18. I am okay with losing slower than the young ones, and I am delighted to find a site for my age group. I have gained and lost many pounds during my adult life; the harsh part is gaining it back plus a few more. Hopefully the band will put an end to that. Unfortunately I have not been able to exercise much. I have knee problems and may need surgery soon. I'd love to keep in touch with others in this thread. Trish -
Any August folks out there? I'm Scheduled for August 10.

HI Marilyn, Thanks for updating the list. How can I access it? I am interested in finding others who had an Aug. 1 Banding date? Trish -
Apetite Supressants for those tough pre-op and post-op diets?

Judi, Stick to it, girl. You can do it. Only 3 more days. Try to imagine what you were doing 3 days ago. Three days in the future doesn't seem so long that way. You go, Girl.
