cosmetic surgery after Lap band surgery
kssunflower posted a topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
I have lost approx 125 lbs, my stomach looks like alot of flab, seen a liposuction dr. and he says i need tummy tuck and not liposuction....I have read in some places that liposuction works as well and don't have the discomfort and cost of tummy tuck. Has anyone out there experience this> -
I had my lapband in March of 2007, I have lost 100 lbs and I was 61 when I had the surgery. In the last year I have continually been having problems with my esophagus burning, lots of phelgm, purge some, I never had this problems before. Im just hoping its not caused by my lapband, I have heard on tv that it is one of the side effects, would like to hear from some of you that it has been at least a couple years since your lapband.

How does one know if their band has slipped, it seems like when I get a fill, the first two weeks I think this is my fill spot, then within a couple more weeks I can eat anything and as much as I want, I don't understand why that is. Have any of you experienced this. Since I was self pay I don't know that I could afford to get my band fixed if it has slipped. -
I lost 20 lbs, now I have to work at keeping that off, I don't get a fill til May8th and I am hungry all the time, although I have found the band itself gives enough restriction I can really overeat easily

There are alot of people that are self pay that go to Mexico fo there surgery and are very well satisfied, I think it is about $8500 down there, if you browse around this site you will find out more about it. good luck to your mom

Cascadian, I'm with you on the liquid diet, the Protein shake in the morning really sustains me pretty well until I'm around food, then I just want to ravish it. I was coming through Wichita yesterday and stopped at a chinese restaraunt and got me a large egg drop Soup and large hot & sour soup to go, I drank the egg drop soup on the road and last night I had the hot and sour soup, didn't figure the mushrooms and ginger in it could hurt me much. I have lots of nausea and also the squirts. I don't know if I can make it until the 29th. I've got to go to my primary physician today and get some for a cough and sinus drainage to assure I will be well enough to have the surgery. When I went for my pre-op yesterday the nurse that did it told me if you have much of a cough or congestion it may delay the surgery. Good to hear others experincing same problems

Hey, that is really great about you both being banded together, you are able to understand what each other is going through. I almost considered going to Mexico myself to Dr. Ortiz at TJ, it's just that I live in Kansas and it is so far to travel if I have any problems, I would have to be able to get a plane to San Diego, so by the time I paid for my plane tickets there wouldn't be a whole lot of difference in what I'm paying int Topeka.......Good luck to you both and keep us posted on how things go. -
Surgery was March 14th!

Welcome Susan, I glad to hear you are doing well. I was suppose to have mine on 28th and they decided since I take coumadin they want me to do it at the hospital so that will be on the 29th, thats only one day difference thats not bad, some of them get put off for weeks. I'M having mine done atTopeka, KS. by Dr. Dunshee, did you have your done? You have come to the right place for support and sharing. Good luck with your continued healing. -
I have a terrible problem, I am being banded on the 28th and I have to start my liquid diet on the 18th. I have been going to my favorite places to eat every day and getting my favorite food there thinking it will be the last time I will ever be able to eat there. Last night I went to my favorite place that has ribs, usually I eat half of my order and take the other half home and eat it the next day, but last night I ate the whole meal. Its like I can't help myself, knowing that I'm going to be on the liquid diet Sunday and it will be a good 6 weeks or better before I can have real food. I am just craving all my favorite foods with the thought that I will probably never be able to eat and enjoy these foods again. I have to get over this feeling, I going to weigh more at my pre-op then i for my first consult. Has anyone else experienced this, I know its all in my head. I am so stuffed and bloated I can't hardly breathe. I am beginning to look forward to the 18th just so I can't do this anymore. Have I gone off the deep end?:hungry:
