Hi BMI..will it scare a Doc not to do the surgery
aliciab replied to Jim1967's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Every doctor is different. I would start by looking up a center of excellence in your area. You don't want just anyone operating on you especially with the high BMI. Understand that if a doctor recommends that you loose weight on a liquid diet prior to surgery it is because he wants to minimize your risk of complications and as with any surgery death is always a possibility. I don't say this to scare you but you just can't simply choose a doctor because he or she is willing to do anything. Many many many people here have to lose weight before surgery so it is possible, not impossible. This is not a magic bullet. It is all going to require a lot of effort. I know you can do it and I wish you lots of good luck . -
Can you freeze the sugar free pudding?
-
Itching with any wound is usually a good sign, it means you're healing. If you're not hungry I would just focus like Scott said on your liquids. Water, broth, protein shake if you can get it down. I won't say you're whining until you eat a bag of chips

When thing like this happen, regardless of the band or something else in life I just try to assure myself that I'm doing everything I can to find out the cause. Definitly get your thyroid checked, make sure all of your other blood work comes out okay. Ask to get an Xray to make sure you don't have a slip and that the band is properly placed. Also are you exercising? Taking action always makes me feel better. I want to feel like I'm truely doing everything I can. I didn't check your profile so this may be a dumb question but could you be pregnant?

Your Dr. seemed kind of like a jerk at your appt. I think you're doing great. I've also heard that if you have a meat "stuckkage" to dilute a little bit of meat terderizer in some water and sip it. The enzymes will break down the meat and allow it to pass through.

My doctor was quick to tell me that if I drank my calories he could not help me. It is not kind of like an addiction, It is an addition and you are an addict. You need to determine if you want to be a recovering one or not. Perhaps use sugar free popscicles or a low fat frozen yougurt in moderation.

Day 3 on my journey - Do not pacify me
aliciab commented on genesishanna's blog entry in genesishanna's Blog
No you are not alone. If you hear me whining just remind me I'm an addict. No one said it was going to be easy, they just said they had a way to help me help myself and I am very greatful. I can't say we won't have days where we get down, or make a bad food choice but we will push through and pick ourselves up and be positive. -
Day 3 on my journey - Do not pacify me

I totally agree. There is a lot of kid gloving on this site especially with the way people don't want to do what they are suppose to but want something "magical" to happen and the weight to just fall off. It is an addiction. I am an addict. Food tastes fan damn tastic and this will be hard work. I accept the challenge and I am glad to see someone else has as well. -
Maybe it's starting to work??

I'm happy for you -
I love Power 90 by Tony Horton. I'm not quite ready for P90X but Power 90 is challenging for me without causing me to want to die.

Dreamfields Pasta is one of the best inventions in the past century. I rarely eat pasta, but when I do it's the only one I'll eat and recommend it to any diabetic or person on a carb restricted diet. There is simply no difference in taste unless of coourse you think it's BETTER than your usual pasta.

I Feel Like I can Eat Too Much - No Fill Yet
aliciab replied to healthychange's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
From everything that I've read on here you are right where you need to be. You have no restriction in your band yet. You're doing just fine. My doctor also has a very simple eating plan as well. Low carb diet for one week prior to surgery and then after it's one to two weeks of healing and then solids as tolerated. It's not a set plan for every person. -
Saying goodbye to food/Night time eating question.
aliciab replied to LisaJane's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
First, you're not the only one who thought I better eat all of the things I really like before I get banded, it's a pretty normal thought fort people on here. Expect that you will still have to address the mental addiction to food long after you get banded. Your mind doesn't change just because your body does. It will be an ongoing battle. The band is not a switch that turns off your addiction, it's just a tool. -
UHC caters their policies to the companies that buy them so each policies requirements might be different. I have UHC and it isn't even covered, it's a direct exclusion at the request of my company and they are not going to budge so while 6 months probably sounds like a long time, imagine paying anywhere from $13,000 to $20,000 out of pocket like folks like me. I would be glad if it was covered at all. Your situation could be much worse.

I can't believe I had to sign that.

You have to quit before you get the surgery. Many surgeons require people to quit smoking before many surgeries not just lap band. Smoking prevents proper healing as well as a whole bunch of other problems. -
Feeling a little... Constipated
aliciab replied to BarbaraG's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Pretty gross thought but a correct one. I would just make sure you add it gradually or you'll be in a world of hurt. -
I really don't think I would worry about it being too fast. If you're commited to doing it then I say all systems go!
-
People use the patch to quit smoking and funny, you never hear anyone say anything about but "good for you".

It will. It will. We are all survivors. Whenever I could tell a relationship was about to end or even sometimes when I was afraid to start a new relationship I would always tell myself the same thing. Alicia will always be Alicia, no one can take that away from me and as long as I can count on myself, I'll be just fine.

I have a sitiation where I am stuck living with my in laws for a few months, You know usually your parents help you out but they've managed to squander everything they've ever had so it's our job to make sure they're not homeless for now. I'm sure they are just wonderful people, really, really really? Except what I see is people who are lazy, unambitious slobs who will constantly mooch off of other people. While I would not tolerate ANY of my family speaking to me the way your mom does, I can certainly relate to the being too close.

Banded in June, just found out that I'm pregnant
aliciab replied to roziecakes's topic in Pregnancy with Weight Loss Surgery
rozie! I am so happy for you! my surgeon basically told me that he didn't care when I got pregnant, as long as he, myself and my ob/gyn felt that I was healthy enough to have the baby it was ooooookay by him. It didn't matter if it was 1 month or 1 year -
Your story is inspirational. Keep up the good work!

Hair Loss Not an Expert but this is what happened to me
aliciab commented on imaluckydog's blog entry in Blog 65542
I agree with the protein and biotin. People on here like to poo poo it but it has definitely helped me. It's not a miracle drug, but it does help quite a bit. -
Hi my name is Tracie...and I'm a night eater!
aliciab commented on TracieR's blog entry in I'm losing it!
You can do it. Stick with it and work at it every day. You're down 80lbs and that is really something!. Every day is a day to try again .
