  1. Hey everyone, I am feeling some soreness/discomfort after having football practice the past 2 days. We practice for 4 hours Saturdays and 4 hours Sundays. We are just doing a lot of conditioning (running, sit-ups, push ups etc.) right now, not much contact. I haven't been hit in the stomach or anything like that. Maybe I just over did it, but my port hurts to the touch, it feels kind of like a bruise. Has anyone had anything similar happen to them after exercising??

    December Bandsters!! How Ya Feeling??

Hey all, I was banded Dec. 6th and am doing great! I have lost 35lbs including my 2 week pre-op diet. I am exercising pretty regularly and I feel good. :-)
  4. Hey everyone! My one month bandiversary is tomorrow 1/6. I play women's tackle football and we start practice back this weekend. I was wondering how everyone did with exercise early on... How much did you do? What kinds of things? Don't worry I won't be getting hit or anything for a few months, we will just be doing a lot of conditioning (running, jumping, sit-ups, push-ups etc.) I saw my surgeon last week and forgot to ask about practice. I'll probably email him tonight, but just in case I can't get a hold of him before Saturday, What do you all think?? Thanks. :-) Annamarie
  5. Finally starting to get my weight under control, if I could say the same for my professional life. :-/

    Hard To "go"...anyone?

Hey Journeytohealth, I was just banded about 10 days ago. Like you I was feeling bloated and discomfort the first couple days. Probably the 3rd or 4th day I "went." Just give it another day or two. If you still haven't gone, I'd try the Milk of Magnesia. But to answer your question about further problems, no I have not had any. I wouldn't worry about it right now! :-) Hope this helps! Good luck!

    Full Contact Semi Pro Football?

I play o-line as well, great to hear you haven't had any problems! My surgeon said he had never had a football player before so he didn't know but thought I'd be ok. How soon did the season start after you had your surgery? I just had mine last week and we start back practice in jan. but prob wont be hitting until march/april.
  10. My surgery was 12-6-2011. I was the first surgery of the day, arrived at the hospital at 5:20am for a 7:30am surgery. Changed into my gown, nurse came in and asked a few questions. Wheeled me into pre-op around 6:30am. The started the IV, asked some more questions, and sat there for maybe 15-20 minutes. Went into surgery, was awake they put something in my IV and I was out! Woke up after surgery, and was trying to keep my eyes open lol I refused to go back to sleep. I did get sick a little and my throat was pretty dry. My nurse was awesome, we talked a lot, she was soo nice. She took me to get an x-ray to make sure everything was good then took me back out to my room in the short stay center. Sat with my parents, got .5 oz of water every hour or so, sipped very slowly. Eventually another nurse came, took me for a walk. And I was discharged. The whole day felt like it was an hour! It went so fast, but I was determined to get out of there, not that it was bad or anything but who wants to stay in a hospital all day! I was out by about 1:30. Slept all the way home. And that was that. Over all, good experience. :-)

    Calcium supplement??

I have 2 different calciums, one is a gummy (that is awesome!) and the other is a liquid (not so good but deal with it). I have been doing both, like every other day bc the gummies of course have a lot of sugar (they taste like candy!). but the gummies are Citrical Calcium D3 Gummies (yumm) and the liquid is Wellesse Calcium D3. They are both Calcium Citrate! Got them both from Walmart. Hope this helps!. :-)
  12. Oh my gosh, I just realized how many times I said like.. lol Sorry!!!!
  13. MellioM and Ready for a new Me! I was banded 12-6-11 too!!! We all have the same bday! lol but I haven't been that hungry, I mean its weird. Like, before I'd be like STARVING, like if i don't eat Im going to throw up, but now its just kinda a dull hunger, like its just there. MellioM, you can eat food already?? I'm not allowed to eat for another week. Feeling good though. Hey, are either of your incision swollen at all? My biggest one, where the port is, has been swollen and its the only one that hurts. Just wondering how you guys are feeling? Sorry, P115 for crashing your post! Good luck, Stay motivated! We are all here for you! :-D

    So This Is Bandster Hell...

Hey Ang! I'm just about a week out of surgery, I know 3 weeks is a BIG difference but are you drinking all your water? That will help a lot. And I know a huge part of this whole process for me, is figuring out when you are actually hungry and when you just think you should be eating. But I agree with everyone else, 600-800 calories is not very much... Maybe just focus on drinking your water when you are hungry and if you are still starving, have a little something. But just as some encouragement, my dad who had lapband 2 years ago always tells me, YOU WILL EAT AGAIN! Just get through the next month and I think things will get better! :-)
  15. Just had my surgery a week ago tomorrow (tuesday). Feelin pretty good. :-)
