  1. Hey there everyone! Well, I went today for my psych evaluation & I'm soooo excited cuz that means I'm one step closer to setting my surgery date (I hope!)There is NO doubt whatsoever for me...I know I want the sleeve surgery & to live a healthier life! I'm just wondering...if I go thru all of this crap the insurance says they require, can they still back out or deny me at the last minute? Or is it pretty much set in stone if they've told the Dr. that I have to do the 3mth. weight management classes, see a nutritionist & get a psych eval? I sure hope I'm not getting my hopes up for nothing! Any info would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance. :thumbup1: Rhonda

    Diabetes

I must say that before my sleeve surgery I was taking 2 glimiperide pills daily...they gave me insulin shots during my hospital stay & 3 days out from surgery I have been pill FREE! I still check my blood sugar now & then...especially after potatoes or Pasta, but so far so good...it's been around 80 before eating & 120 afterwards! I am SO proud to have my sleeve. Not only has it helped me to be healthy & lose weight but it's helped me get rid of my diabetes...hopefully FOR GOOD! Rhonda

    Curves?

Anyone out there been in the Curves fitness program & if so, is it good? Were you successful with toning up? I started my membership Monday & will be going 3 days a week. Any suggestions or opinions about it, please chime in. Thanks, Rhonda

    Curves?

Dawn, The Curves I go to charges $34.00 monthly! I can't really "afford" it, but I figure I'm saving that much money on groceries (since it doesn't take much to fill me up) per month! LOL I absolutely LOVE it! The workout is great! You should check into it if you have one where you live. Rhonda
  6. Waiting to hear how your feeling & what the doctor said! Prayers & hugs! Rhonda

    Sleever's Rendezvous...?

I've always wanted to go to Florida! I sure hope we can bring our spouses cuz he's been through this whole ordeal with me & I wouldn't ever think of leaving him behind! This whole idea of gettting to meet everyone really excites me! Rhonda
  9. Yep, sounds like we're in the same boat lol. I don't like being constipated, but sometimes I wish I could stop myself up just so I don't have to go potty so much. This might be a little TMI, but my booty is RAW from so much pottying! Enough is enough...I'm 5 weeks post op & it hasn't gotten any better 4 me. So let's hope after 8 weeks I'll be back to normal. Rhonda

    My life changing year

WOW! You look absolutely AMAZING! But I must say you were still a beautiful lady when you were big! You just have one of those "perfect" complexion faces! Congrats on your loss & enjoy life to the fullest in 2011!!! Rhonda
  12. My Dr. removed my gallbladder during my sleeve surgery & now I have bathroom issues everytime I eat! It doesn't matter if it's fatty, greasy, healthy, etc...I have to run to the potty approximately 30-45 minutes after eating! I hate it! I am hoping this gets better over time...please someone assure me I will not have bathroom issues the rest of my life! Rhonda
  13. I am 6 weeks post op & I was a Diet Dr. Pepper fanatic before surgery! I broke down yesterday & tried a sip of one & believe me....it hurt like hell trying to go down! That was NOT worth it! I don't know if it will get better over time, but for now I can truly say I will not be sipping on anymore Diet DP! Rhonda
  14. Sassy, Not real sure how long I'll have to stay on the Nexium but I would rather stay on it permanently than to go thru the pain of trying to eat without it. It's almost as though I'm scared to get off of it. I LOVE mexican food & that's been the hardest thing of all is to avoid spicy foods and I've MISSED chips & salsa like you wouldn't believe! I am hoping in a few more weeks I'll be able to eat a little bit of Mexican food & be happy! Hope you continue to do well. Let me know if I can help in any way! Rhonda
  15. Hey there Sassy...I was sleeved on Nov. 18th & am feeling much better now! I am finally able to eat without pain & can just about eat anything I want...just NOT much of it! I am having to take Nexium for the acid in my stomach, but other than that I am good. I will be starting Curves program on Jan. 3rd & so far I've lost 30 pounds. I LOVE my sleeve! Hope all is goin well with you. Keep us posted! Rhonda

    Gas Pains After Surgery..

I'm 5 weeks post op today so I can say from experience that mostly anything I tried did NOT help with the gas. I had NO pain other than gas after surgery & it lasted for approximately 7 days...it was trapped & no matter what I did I couldn't get rid of it. I tried GasX strips, lying on my left side, walking, walking & more walking, but it just wouldn't leave out! I must say that Tiffykins idea of the heating pad did relieve it somewhat but it was not until the 7th day that I started being able to let some of it out! WHEW! Glad those days are over! Hope you get to feeling better very soon! Rhonda
  17. Rosa, When you say you cannot eat...do u mean you're vomiting or diarrhea or what? I am 15 days post op & still have trouble eating & drinking. It's uncomfortable, I have had trouble with diarrhea as well, but I'm not sure it's not moreso because of the gall bladder removal. Congrats on your 50 lbs loss! That's great! I hope everything gets better for you & you're able to eat! Keep us posted! Rhonda
  18. I'm still trying to learn it all myself! Yes, there are very nice people on here & everyone seems to get along most of the time. There is a wealth of info on here & every question I've had has been answered. It's GREAT!!! :)

    Is Palin NUTS????

I, myself think it's ridiculous for the government, including the first lady, to tell me how to take care of my kids! As a teacher...I see the CRAP they put on the kids plates (all in the name of being healthy) and the kids won't eat it. Therefore, they go all day without eating anything...then go home & pig out! That's where the obesity comes in at...they should allow the kids to eat a good lunch so they could work it off while still at school.(Recess, P.E., etc) The kids instead, go home, pig out on whatever & then sit on the couch & watch tv or play video games. I think we should spend more time educating our children about it instead of feeding them things they won't eat. Just my opinion...sorry if it offends anyone! Rhonda
  20. How many sleevers also got their gall bladder removed? Mine was removed with my sleeve surgery & I am wondering if this awful watery diarrhea will ever go away or is this something I will have to live with from now on? Rhonda
  21. Mine was a French 34. I wonder how much of a difference it makes? Rhonda
  22. Steeler, The unjury chocolate & strawberry Protein shakes are very good. I haven't tried the vanilla but I'd be willing to bet it's ok too. I mix them with skim milk & it's tolerable to me. The unflavored I've added to my soups & I can't even tell it's in there. Also, I've seen other posts by Tiffykins about Greek yogurt so u might wanna check into that. Have you started with your sublingual Vitamin B-12? I did a few days ago & I can already tell a difference in my energy level. I'm assuming its the B-12 bcuz I couldn't hardly get up & put one foot in front of the other without tiring easily b4 taking them but doing super well now! ! I have finally gotten rid of all the trapped air that was causing me misery so therefore I feel like living! Keep us posted. Rhonda
  23. Myrori, Congrats on your new sleeve! I was newly sleeved on the 18th & my dr told me the most important thing at first was to stay hydrated & to forget the protein until it was easier for me to drink. Therefore, I'm sticking with the soups, vitamin water & gatorade for a while longer & then I'll try to start on the protein. Good luck on your journey & keep us posted! Rhonda

    Bcbs tx

Lovely Lo, I have BCBS TRS Active Care of TX & I only had to do 3 mths of weight loss classes & show where I'd attempted weight loss over the years! I know every insurance is different but I wouldn't give up...that's what they're hoping you'll do! Keep calling & asking questions...whatever you have to do to get it done. I was sleeved on Nov 18 & I am already glad I did it! Good luck & don't give up!

    Jealous.....

Micnic, Looks like you & I are on this ride together! I was just venting to my husband yesterday about everyone else's posts..."Seems like I'M the ONLY one that isn't having a super duper easy recovery," I said! I was having a very nice lil' pity party & although I'm thrilled for everyone else....I'm also JEALOUS! I'm almost 2 wks post op myself & I can honestly say that today I actually feel like I'm gonna live! I've had awful trapped gas & acid reflux up until now. I don't know if it's cuz I am a diabetic is why I'm healing slower or what, but I just keep tellin' myself that I did this all for my health & the Lord hasn't brought me this far to leave me now. LOL! I am praying for you & hope that you will have a turning point in your recovery SOON! If you'd like to personal message me & we can talk about our not so good recovery you're more than welcome to. dbrjredd@aol.com Rhonda
