    Incisions

I believe that you just let them fall off on their own, which takes 1-2 weeks. I was also told that it is ok to let Water run over the incisions, just not to take baths or anything where they are just sitting in water. Hope that helps
  2. I havent experienced anything like that, but if it continues maybe you should call your dr again, just in case
  3. So Im a little less than a week out, STILL on clear liquids till the post op appt next Thursday. Im trying to make life as normal as possible and cook regular meals for my family, and IT IS SO HARD to just not eat with them! I made beef stew last night, and it smelled so amazing, and I kept thinking how lucky they are to be chewing!! LOL And to top it off today my husband was craving a cheeseburger and I insisted on going with him because I cant hide every time someone around me wants to eat. So of course we go to the greasiest spoon in Pasadena (Lucky Boys for you locals) and I sat there with my cup of broth and just inhaled (and I brought some knitting along to distract me) I know that there was no chance I would be eating any but it makes me just WISH I could. I know this will pass and I will be able to eat again, but I am obsessing with food now and Im hoping once Im able to eat I will be able to control myself! I know Im going through stages and Ill relax once I can try something normal but uggg what do I do until then???? Just wanted to vent!!
  4. Thank you, it is really nice to know that Im definitely not alone in this! It seems like such a personal struggle but I know so so many people on this board have been through this or will be going through it. You are right about the liquid diet, never ever have I been able to do this for more than a day at a time. I know its because I am positive I will see results, whereas before I wasnt sure or felt like I would be wasting my time cause "Im just gonna gain it back anyway!" I KNOW that when the weight comes off its gone, as long as I do what I need to be doing, and its not coming back

    FLU LIKE SYMPTOMS

I was sleeved on Dec 27 and today was the first day that I woke up and felt....normal. You dont really hear about it but there are some really really crappy days right after post op. I felt the same way, achy and phlegmy and miserable, and I had gas and couldnt get all my fluids in, and Im less than a week out! But I think the difference was that I really tried to get protein in and drink fluids!! Like just keep stuffing em in every 10-15 min or so. I dont know if this is on but I just starting taking 1/2 oz "shots" instead of little sippy sips - but I didnt over do it! I posted yesterday that I couldnt get a lot of fluid in and I was a little worried. Well I was literally up either with warm tea or Crystal Light every 2 hours last night until like 4am, but in the morning I felt ok, not thirsty or crappy. Today I have had on average about 2-3 oz an hour which is what my surgeon wanted, plus I had 40g protein. Im making homemade soups, with the meat and veggies, and just drinking the broth, and thats helping me feel a little normal. I still feel crummy a little, and really hungry too, which Im told is unusual. But that crappy achy stage will pass, just try to give your body what it needs
  7. Hi TIffany! To get 64 oz of fluid we would literally need 4 oz an hour all day and night so I guess what Im doing (and what everyone else is saying) is just get in as much as you can This will pass (soon hopefully, I miss food already:\) Oh there goes my stomach making weird noises lol.. Well good luck if you feel like I do this is a crappy stage but we'll get through it!
  8. Thanks Lisa So Im thinking that if I drink 2 oz/hr from 7am to 11pm thats 32 oz, that I know I can do. With 3 oz per hour its 48 and thats decent, so Im gonna shoot for that eventually. Im really not tolerating Protein Shakes except Atkins but I ordered unjury chicken Soup and some samples of unflavored and chocolate. I know that protein will be better once those come, if I like the unflavored Im gonna put that in EVERYTHING. So tomorrow I guess my focus is liquids, liquids, liquids! broth counts as liquids too right?

    This Stinks To No End!!

Sorry to hear that! I think there are a few organic brands of lactose free milk, maybe check some of those out. I think in general lactose intolerant people can still eat cheese and yogurt, but there are exceptions! I think that would be a good one for your dr, to avoid another vomiting episode. Good luck!

    gas pains

HI! I was sleeved the same day and Im going through tthe exact same thing. I had extremely bad gas pains all over my chest area the first day, they went away but up to now Im burping everywhere I go! Ive tried exhaling when I sip and walking all over etc but it doesnt help much. I might try gas strips next. Also, as far as the hunger I also felt that from the 2nd post op day. Its so weird its like am I hungry, is it stomach acid or what?? I think Im getting a little better at telling, I just aim to drink 2 oz an hour whether or not I feel hungry, and usually when Ive almost finished I get that unmistakable full feeling. I know that if I dont eat for more than an hour I get that unmistakable HUNGRY feeling. So anything in between I just ignore, even though it is getting a little annoying. Its like Im never just right, either full or with that weird hungry feeling. I posted something about it a couple days back and someone commented that it might be grehlin (sp?) that humger hormone still floating around the body.
  11. I was sleeved on 12/27 and my dr said ONLY clear liquids until my first post op appt and about 50-60 g of protein a day, plus 64 oz water. I think I only got to about 20 g of protein today, and maybe 24 oz liquids. This is my first full day home from the hospital and without IV nutrition, so I know I better kick it up a few notches or Im not gonna be feeling too good. Honestly right not Im not even concerned with how many calories Im eating, Im just sticking to broths Crystal Light and protein shakes. At this point calories would be welcome because Im know Im not getting enough of the nutrients I need and really cant get over this feeling that my poor body is starving. Is this normal for someone less than a week out? I guess a good thing is I lost 17 lbs since my post surgery weight. But once again is this normal? LOL. I just want to make sure Im doing everything I can to avoid getting sick.
  12. HOME SWEET HOME! Finally :) And 9 lbs down...

    One week Post op

Aw...Im sorry! It sucks that we cant have any pizza...yet at least. I am in my clear liquid stage still and Im already wanting more. Just know that IT WILL PASS! Keep in mind the goal that you are aiming for, its gonna be hard but worth it Meanwhile why dont you try googling different ideas for clear or full liquid diets, there might be something you havent tried yet Good luck!
  14. Hi! I was sleeved on 12/27 too My main problem was gas as well but what helped was to walk, walk and walk. Trust me I was burping left and right but I didnt care cause I was so happy to be rid of the gas! Im still having a little problem with the gas that Im swallowing with my liquids, but that GasX seems like a good idea so I might try that. As for the restlessness maybe try just walking the halls or some different floors and maybe you'll feel better. Good luck!!!
  15. Hi Are you in pain? Or stressed because you are in the hospital? Either way it wold be a good idea to look into it with your PCP. I know that my BP is usually 120s/80s but the day of my surgery i was in the 150s over 90s. Im still a little high but I think its being in the hospital that is causing it.

    Why am I so thirsty?

I know that there is a flavorless Protein powder available at GNC and online...how about adding some of that to your Water? You can drink and get some protein in too? I havent tried it yet but just a thought
  17. YUM! Sushi was my "last supper", Im 2 days post op and it sounds sooo good. BTW is raw fish ok to eat in the mushy stage? Minced up super small like spicy tuna without the spicy?
  18. Thanks Tiffy! I think that I do need to increase the liquids, I only had about 6-7 oz yesterday and the nurse actually woke me up at 4 am while taking my vitals and told me to have more. Im going to work on increasing them today
  19. Hello! I was sleeved yesterday @ Scripps Mercy in San Diego, and everything had been going well. My only concern is that I am starting to get what Im thinking are hunger pains. My stomach is making noises and I feel...hungry. I brought this up to the nurse and she said it was unusual but it might be that the signals from my stomach to my brain are all confused right now. Also I read on another post that increased stomach acid leads to hunger, so maybe a PPI would help? I am taking on and am due for my next dose in an hour or so, so I will see if that makes me feel better. Another thing I noticed is that I started feeling this way right after a half hour of stressful and annoying phone calls to DMV, AAA, and the USPS regarding my car registration and misplaced mail. So I'm wondering if this could be an emotional reaction?? Has anyone else experienced this?
  20. HELLO Sleeve sister!! How are you doing? Im pretty good, not too much pain, just walking off gas, etc. Hope all is well :D

  21. HI Sleeve sister!! How are you doing? I am pretty ok, on ice ships, and guess what I passed gas today LOL

Hope everything is going well for you. BTW for the first time I actually feel a little hungry, I just finished an oz of ice chips. Do you know if this is normal?

  22. 1 day post op - Still havent wrapped my mind around it, maybe cause it has been such a long process for me! I have minimal pain, walking around everywhere, pretty much feeling normal :) On ice chips - 1 oz per day. Thanks everyone for the well wishing, it is truly appreciated!!

  23. Hello! VSG tomorrow! Yay! So I have 2 questions. 1) I got a juicer for Christmas, and am wondering how to best utilize it for my post op period. I know that juices are usually not recommended due to the sugar content, but I want to know if veggie juices ie carrot, celery, beet, etc. are ok in the full liquid stage. I would like to get in liquids with a bit more substance than just Crystal Light, creamed Soups, etc. Which leads me to my second question... 2) I do not like sweetened Protein drinks at all, and wondered if it is ok to simply keep only the unflavored protein and just mix it in with whatever I eat/drink? That would keep things a lot easier then trying to find different flavors that I like, etc. Im thinking I could make some of my own veggie/fruit juices (diluted) and mix some protein in and let that be that. Any feedback please? Thanks!
  24. SURGERY TOMORROW!!! Ahhhhh Im so excited and scared poopless :D

  25. Hi Tiffany! My day is tomorrow as well. Good luck to you, see you on the other side
