My dr told me that he starts off with 4 cc in the 10 cc band and then 2 and then 1. Since I was unable to have it done in the office and he has to do it via fluroscope he told me that he plans on filling it until he sees restriction so that i do not have to go back. I hope it does not wind up being to much. How soon can you go back if you do not find restriction with the 1 cc? Good Luck!

I went Thursday and could not get the fill and now i have to wait until after my vacation and maybe even a week longer since my Dr is just coming back from vacation it appears he may not be able to fit me in for the fill the first week in April. I am still waiting for the girl to call me back and let me know. I will have to call her again on Monday. I am sure everything will be fine with your 1st fill. Good Luck

Hi everyone, I have not posted in awhile, I have had many things going on. I was suppose to have my first fill today however the dr nor his nurse could find my port. So I have toschedule for teh flouroscopy. He wanted me to schedule next week or 2 weeks, however I leave for vacation on 3/22 -4/1 so I will not be able to get until after I return. My Dr's comment to was you don't want this before vacation anyways. I had gone back and forth but the nurse convinced me to have it (it did not take much convincing). I guess a higher power had other plans. I did not loose nor have a gained. I was the same. I have been having some other medical issues since surgery that have been getting worse. I started with right after surgery the outside of my left thigh was/is numb. The Dr had order an EMG/NSV to check nerve responses. While I was waiting for this test, a couple of weeks ago I began not being able to feel when I go to the bathroom (sorry for being graphic). So the Dr order and MRI. it should that I have a central disc protrusion, the Dr. still wanted me to have the MRI to find out how bad the nerves are. The results of the EMG/NSV is that there is no muscle response in the left foot and that there is abnormalities in pertty much up through a portion of my back. The worse in the foot. Since I resently had a few surgeries on teh left foot I need to have another MRI of the left foot and ankle to make sure that a nerve was not servered during the surgeries. Also the protrusion in back is not what's causing the numbness in my leg. My primary care asked that I also see a neurologist for a 2nd opinion. So I have my MRI tomorrow morning, then next Wed I have my appointment with the Neurologist and then when I come back from vacation I will have to have my fill and I also have another appointment with a urogynecologist who preformed surgery 12/26, from which I have not been allowed to do any aerobic excercise, weights excetera. The only thing I can do it walk on the treadmill. On a positive note when I actually am able to get my fill he told me that he make sure that the band tightens so that I do not have to keep going back and will have go restriction with the first fill. He ususlly does 4 cc then 2 then 1 in the 10 cc band which is what I have.

My Primary wants me to see aneurologist for a 2 nd opinion because according the results the central disc protrusion in my back is not way I am having nerve issues in my leg. I also have to have another MRI of my foot and ankle. hopfully we will figure out what is wrong soon before it gets any worse. If anyone is interested on the whole ordeall I posted in my journal. Sonia and Lala got to hear it first hand on Sunday. Anyway, in the last few days I have definitely had the attack of the emotional eating monster.:hungry: Sorry to spill this all out to guys just needed to vent a little today. Tell Me About the Psychological Testing
Amelia40 replied to daisey1984's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I did not have the same worries, however I have a cousin (lives in PA) who was dignosed with Bipolar and she had no problem getting approved for the Bypass surgery. She had the surgery a couple of years ago and still has her ups and downs. She was recently admitted for inpatient treatment for depression. During this they served popcorn and she ate it needless to say she wound up hospitalized for a few days. :rolleyes Anyway I would think that being Bipolar is not necessarily a reason for denial. I hope this helps. -
How long did it take to get your band?
Amelia40 replied to ATRAVOLTA's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I went to see my Surgeon the First week of Dec 2006. My PCP and I decided on this surgery for me the week before. I had another surgery already scheduled for the end of Dec so I decide to hold off on scheduling appointments for the psyc and nutrionist until after my other surgery. I completed these appointment by the the second week of Jan. 2007 and had ins aproval within the week and surgery scheduled for 1/31. probably could have had it sooner had I done the the prework sooner. -
7 days postop to much protein?
Amelia40 replied to maya94115's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
My Nutrinist had told me that the protien was not as important in the initial weeks after surgery because this is healing time. That was preop, I had another post op visit with her last week and I told her I have a hard time with drinking the protein shakes and she recommend powder that can be added to cooked food. But she also said that the protein is not as much of an issue with banded patients verse GB patients because of the obsorbtion. But she also knew that I was eating chicken and cottage chees during lunch meals and protein for dinner. And I believe she felt I was eating enough protein at this point. -
I'm New with questions
Amelia40 replied to christellini's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
One of the things to consider since you are still young is that with GB you loose the ability to obsorb nutrients, if you wanted to get pregnant it may be more difficult to provide enough nutrients to the baby. I would ask you Dr about this if this is something you maybe considering in the future. My I asked my gnye if I would be able to have children if I had GB she could not tell me yes or no. I have notice that people with the band have had healty children. When pregnant the band can be unfilled. Plus to me the risks were much greater with the GB that the band. I hope this helps. Good Luck with your decision. -
Tell Me About the Psychological Testing
Amelia40 replied to daisey1984's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I found out from my insurance company that the psych was not required by my insurance company for approval for the surgery. I had to call them to get approval before my visit. They approved me for one visit only. The psycologist new why I was coming to see him and I thought he would be prepared to give me the test. He was not. I called the Dr's office and explained to them the the psyc was not required for insurance approval and asked if I needed to still the test done. My Dr said I did not need to have it done as long as the psycologist could make a recommendation based on my interview with him. Evidently he was able to because I am now banded. -
I will be there. Thanks Mandy!

Count me in.

I was also band 1/31 and I am not scheduled for my fill until 3/15 and that is 6 weeks. I could really use the fill now. I do not get the full feeling any more. I am trying to limit what I am eating. I had lost 38 but over the last week I have gain 10 back. My weight has been flucating from day to day by at least 5 pounds. It is really frustrating. My cloths however do feel loose. I have been trying to walk on the treadmill at least 3 times a week. I would be up for the excercise challenge.

I am good for 2 weeks.

With the whether forcast for tomorrow I would rather cancel for another time. If you decide to get together anyway I will have to join you next time. I would take me about 40 minutes in good whether. Thanks!

Tonya you look AWESOME! CONGRATULATIONS!

I went to my sisters over the weekend and saw my sister, brother and sister in law and they all told me that I look good and that they can see in my face that I have lost weight. They are very excited for me. I returned to work today for the first time since 12/21 (had another surgery 12/26 and then the band on 1/31) and one of the ladies that I work with told me that I looked like I lost weight. She had actually been scheduled to have the band done and backed out 2 weeks before surgery because she had not family support or support from her long time boyfriend. Anyway those were a couple of my NSV's.

This is about an hour for me but that is fine. My broth lives around there and maybe I will stop in for a visit while I am in the area. Thanks Mandy for coordinating.

I had mine done in northern IL Highland Park Hospital by Dr Woody Dunham. If you go to the Local Support Groups and go to USA you can then find the thread for IL and maybe you can find someone closer to Clinton. CONGRATULATIONS! and good luck with your appointment.

ELoo, CONGRATULATIONS! You are on your way.:thumb: I had my 2 week post op Thursday and had lost 7 pounds since surgery. However I was really sick (nauseated, lightheaded, cold sweats:sick ) and they would not let me leave the office (not related to the band). They wanted to call and ambulance to come and take me to the hospital. After laying in their procedure room for 1 1/2 hours they let me leave, but I had to go and see my PCP. So I called him and made an appointment and went to see him also. He is running test to see what the problem is. PCP did not want me to return to work on Friday so now I will not return to work until Monday. I had to go back to my PCP office Friday for more lab work and I weighed myself again on his scale and I lost another 5 pound over night. So I am down 12 since surgery but 38 over all.:clap2: Good Luck to you!

Hi! I had my first post-op vist yesterday. I was so sick when I went that the Dr would not let me leave to drive home, they wanted to call an ambulance to take me to the hospital. They had my lay down in their procedure room for about 1 1/2 hours. I convinced them I could drive home. When I got to the parking lot I called my PCP and scheduled an appointment and went to see him. He is running test to see what was wrong. I was nauseated, ligtheaded, they said I was pale and just over all not well. :sick The good new was I lost 7 pounds since surgery, however today I had to go back to my PCP for lab work and found out between yesterday and today I lost another 5 pounds. I may put some of that back on but maybe not. We will see. I am however counting my weight loss from my highest weight which was the beginning of Dec so I have lost a total of 38. :clap2: I was suppose to return to work today but my PCP did not want me to. So I will not be returning until Monday. I felt a little better today. They think it may have something to do with starting totake my Iron again. I have anemia so I have to take the iron. Hope you are all doing well. Take care!
