I had the same soup about 1 week post op if not sooner. I was on a liquid diet but not clear liquids. I did not have a problem with it.

I would have sharp pain that lasted for a very short time. Usually it was when I took even the slightest of a deep breath. This does go away. I did not have a hernia repair at the same time. If you are still concerned just call the Dr's office I am sure they will be able to confirm for you it this is normal.

My surgeon only required a 2 day liquid diet before surgery (standard) and I have a high BMI. I am sure everything will be fine, just let your Dr know and make sure he is okay with it. Good Luck!

When I was in the process of getting everything approved I had gone to my GI's office and spoke with his office manager (we are pretty good friends) and she had said her sisiter got the band last year and was not doing well with it and was very discouraging, however my GI had recommend WLS and when he found out that I got the band he was not discouraging at all. The office staff do not know everything, your Dr is the one who will now your history and it is different for everyone. People who not understand the difference between the Band and RNY expect Lap band patients to have results right away like the RNY and do not understand that it is a little slower than RNY so they believe patients with the band fail which is not true. Good Luck and I hope your Dr is more encouraging. If he is encouraging, I would tell him that his office staff are handing out medical advice over the phone and explain it to him. They really should not be saying anything. I had a procedure done in a hospital and the nurse comes and starts pulling the blankets off of me and telling me I had to get up, I was in so much pain I could not move and I refused to get up. I have gotten pancreatitis from the procedure ( a known complication) and was in the hospital for 3 days. My next follow-up with the Dr I told him about it and he apologized and did go back to the staff. So staff do not always know. Good Luck with eveything!!!

I was banded 1/31/07, in March I had and MRI of foot and ankle, lower lumber, brain and neck and then in April I had one of my lower pelvis. Needless to say there were no problems. Good luck and I hope all is okay.

I do not have bipolar or mental illness however I have a cousin who is digianosed with bipolar and she was also on welfare in the US and was approved and had the RNY surgery. So I do not think it would out of the question for you. I hope this gives you some hope. Hope all goes well for you.

You could report him to the better business bureau. You may not have proof that he said the fills would be free but you do have proof that he is charging $1000 for fills which the most I have seen before your post on this board was $500. Good Luck!

Since I just joined the thread for the Labor Challenge, I thought this would be a great time to join the excercise thread. To give me more motivation. I just joined a health club today and physical therapy. The physical therapy kicked my a$$. I have lost feeling in my left thigh and my neurologist noticed that I have also lost strengh in the left hip as well, so hopefully the physical therapy will help. He had me doing all kinds of ball excercises, leg lifts and in the end elliptical. I was only able to do it for 5 minutes and my legs were clasping so I had to stop. Hopefully my strength will build back up soon.

My Dr asked me why I wanted the band verses bypass. He said he is not there to sell me on either surgery. He gave me "stats" And felt I may not be able to loose all the weight I need to with the band. He told me I will have to work at it. My reasons for having the band over the bypass; less risk, I told him it could be reversed and he said I was not coming in his office in 2years and asking to have it removed he would not do it. That of course was not my point. I meant that if there are complications the band could be removed. Also if after loosing the weight and I am able to get pregnant the band could be loosen to provide better nutrition for the baby. I had asked my Gyne when making the decision and she could not tell me that with the Bypass what complications or issues there might be with pregnancy. I have also had to cousins that had the bypass and are gaining their weight back. Although my Dr questioned me about my decision he did not pressure me one way or the other. As Long as I knew what I wanted. I had also told him that my PC and my GI both wanted me to have the bypass and I told them absolutely not and that if I had not heard about the band I would not have been sitting in his office. Just know what you want and be firm in your decision. As with all medical concerns, it is your life and your medical decision NOT your Dr's. They can recommenda Treatments, provide advice but it is always your decision. Best of luck to you!!!

I had my surgery 1/31/07 and as of my 3rd fill 5/31 I started feeling the restriction. This brought me to 8 cc's in my VG band. I am sure this fill will help you loose more weight.

You are all doing so great. I was banded 1/31 and only just started loosing in June after my 3rd fill in my VG band (up to 8cc). With this challenge I am hoping to keep loosing. My Dr was so happy that I did not have to go in for my forth fill. Thank you loosing for starting this challenge. I am using my weight as of this moring for my starting and current. I have the VG band and my Doctor started me off with 4 cc and I felt nothing, the next fill he added 2 more cc and I again nothing. I was back in his office with 2 1/2 weeks for my third fill and he added another 2 cc. I now have a total of 8 cc and finally have some restriction, and have fianlly started to loose weight. My surgery was 1/31 and my 3 rd fill was 5/31. It took 4 months for me to start having the restriction.. Keep plugging away you will feel restriction soon. Take care!

I have the larger band and received 4 cc the first time around I wished it had been more since I did not loose after the first fill. I agree with Kat I think it depends the Dr. You are doing great keep it up.

The nurse case manager from my insurance company called me only my surgery was in January and she used the excuse of it being the new year and was calling to introducer herself and this was also during the time I was waiting for approval, so I mentioned the surgery to her and that I was waiting for approval. Then after teh surgery she called me to make sure I was doing okay. I woudl not worry I am sure she is just checking in with you. Good luck with your surgery.

Thanks Sweet Violet. I have been on B12 shots and the Iron since last year. I just can not keep my levels up. I have not had teh "anemia" since about Dec last year. Just my iron keep dropping. I am currently on one b12 shot a month, 2 b12 supplement Vitamins and 1 b12 sublingual and I am also taking 3 irons a day. My iron has finally started to come back up and my B12 was over 1600 a few weeks ago. I just lost my job on Tuesday do to outsourcing and I have to wait for my cobra to kick in before I make any more appointments. Maybe once it kicks in I will go to see a hemotologist. There are different causes for the pernacious anemia, just not sure what is causing mine. I just had an upper endoscopy a couple of weeks ago with the band. My Gi told me my band needed to be tighter tat he was able to pass without any problems and that it was wide open. I actually just got 2 more cc, so I am up to 8 now and finally feeling some restriction. Which band did Dr D use for you. I have the vg. Are you going to the Lap Band support group meeting on the 21st. I will not be able to make it because I will be out of town. thanks again for the info. Take Care

I may be able to do next Sat the 16th. After that I will be probably be out of town until July 1st. Mandy ~ I am glad that everything went well with your daugther's surgery. How long before the packing is disolved. That really had got to be uncomfortable for her. Has anyone heard from Mistey (lala), I have not seen any posts from her in a couple or months?

I probably willnot be able to make it this month. My parents are coming to town and we are going to Minnesota and I have to take off my part time job for this, so she has me scheduled on the weekends I am in town. Have fun. Amelia
