Hello all, I am not yet banded. but have a tentative approval provided I meet insurance standards. I have been trying to eat healthier and exercise. Could that restart my cycle after a two year cessation? I started bleeding yesterday, so I immediately jumped on the internet and scared myself I have an appt. Friday with my new doctr's office with their cnm (certified nurse midwife). Mountain out of molehill, I hope. Needed to write it out, somehow still scared.:Banane37: Thanks for listening Robbie

Handwalking...as in upside down and vertical OMG and I still cannot let go of the rails. Were you athletic even when you were heavy or did you just totally change your mindset? I used to have an elliptical, but I never felt comfortable on it and then it went to live with my sister. She didn't like it either and sold it at a yard sale. I love my NordicTrak treadmill, even with my balance issues. Robbie

I lost my 4.5 year old!
MeFirstFinally replied to jen_ngah's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Not banded yet, but according to this calculation, I have 4 of my 16 pound cat, Gravity, to lose. She is a big girl; I call her my cast Iron cat. lol. She is completely black and I swear she can increase her weight at will (like every time I have to pick her up to move her out of the way). I have been thinking about a way to keep track of my weight loss that will add some additional meaning. I know I made my screen name, MeFirstFinally, but I still fee selfish. I am thinking about donating a pound of food to the food bank for every one I lose or food to the animal shelter. Any other ideas. Robbie -

HELLO- new here!! Army Wife in Kansas!
MeFirstFinally replied to hooahwife's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Adding my thank you for your service as well as your husband's. I know you don't want to send him pictures of yourself, but how about increasing his anticipation by sending him an occassional (sp?) picture of a piece of clothing which is now too big for you? Just a thought. Robbie :camera: -
Nausea- Someone help please!
MeFirstFinally replied to Libby_160's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am not banded yet, but from what I have read on this board, you need to call your doctor, you need to stop trying to eat because that may make it worse. Someone with real band experience could tell you more. Good luck. Robbie -
30 Day Challenge... get ready to kick some butt here!
MeFirstFinally replied to LilMissDiva Irene's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hi all. Sorry I have been MIA. The good news is I have my computer/work out room back. Jacob passed his summer school Algebra II with an 87, which tells me he could have passed the class if he had tried. I spent 30 minutes on the treadmill and got in all of my Water, but didn't pay attention to the Protein intake. I have no memory these days so I don't even remember what I ate (not good). Getting back on track first thing in the morning. Robbie -

strange pain, ladies only
MeFirstFinally replied to MelissaNY's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Melissa, In another forum, there was a thread about not being able to eat wearing a bra. I don't remember that the posters reached a conclusion about why this would happen. http://www.lapbandtalk.com/topic/131164-cant-eat-with-bra-on/ Robbie -
Hi Disabled US Marine new to the site!
MeFirstFinally replied to WARLORDS451's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
The pharmacist at my Dad's VA center was very helpful when he had troubling swallowing towards the end, telling us what could be crushed or cut without risk. Bigger pills could also be taken with pudding or yogurt to help them slide down, but Dad didn't have a band to navigate, so I don't know if that would help you. He ran away at 16 to join the Marines, so he could support his mother and siblings. Ended up in China in 1944, but never talked about it. I haven't been banded yet, so I don't have anything more to offer but encouragement. This forum is very good place to find answers. Best of luck to you.:patriot: Robbie -
Shopping Frustration...
MeFirstFinally replied to Daizee3's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I hate to burst your bubble, but you do lose weight in your feet as well!! You will have to shop for shoes also. Double the fun Robbie -
Are you doing okay? Did you have to have an unfill before the surgery? Let us know how you are. Robbie

I love your new picture. You are one of my weight loss inspirations. Every time I look your ticker is down .5 pounds. It is so obvious how hard you have worked. Congratulations. Robbie Apparently you cannot edit subject line. Rachel412, I apologize for my dyslexic post and mangling your name. Sentiments still apply.

What habits should I break now?
MeFirstFinally replied to HopefulVA's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I don't know about you, but I need to stop multi-tasking when I eat...no newspapers, no computer, no novels, no household tasks. I cannot remember the last time I concentrated all of my attention on eating a meal. From what I understand about being banded, concentration is required until the new habits of small bites and chew, chew, chew and chew some more become habits. Congratulations on being pro-active in this process. I am sure you are going to do well. Robbie -
I appreciate the good thoughts and I have calmed down a lot since I posted this, but I am 56 and I don't think any improvement in my health should turn back the clock quite this much. Since my original post I have talked to a number of other post menopausal women who have had unexpected restarts of their cycle. I had hoped I was done with "monthly supplies." I am impressed with the promptness of the new insurance company's response to my concern. I have my appointment with my new PCP to discuss banding on August 24. Wish me luck.

Sorry I missed yesterday. My nephew has been sentenced to summer school and I am the only member of the family not still using dial up LOL. My work just changed insurance. Our previous insurance specifically prohibited WLS and any complications resulting from same. We now have new insurance and I find myself afraid to call. I am not normally a denial kind of person...if I don't hear/see it isn't real. I am just worried that if I hear that nothing is changes, I will give up. I have finally decided to take some control and I dont know if I will stick to it if the insurance won't help. The idea of saving $10,000 plus dollars is very daunting.

Afraid to call
MeFirstFinally replied to MeFirstFinally's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Spell check ate my post. Weird I called the new insurance, Kaiser Permanente, WLS including the band, is covered with a 10% co insurance. They have a contract with a specific hospital which is at least an hour away. It is a center of excellence so I can live with that distance. I called and it wasn't bad news. I am amazed. Thanks for all of the support and good wishes. Robbie
