Any tips for shoulder pain???
sandiburn replied to momof5inWI's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had surgery 1 week ago tomorrow. My shoulder only hurts when I lay down. I have been up and trying to stay active durring the day. I have spring cleaned a few rooms and will finish up the rest of the house tomorrow. When I get tired I rest for 10 min or so then back at it. Since I have started this, the sholder pain has gotten a lot better. Good luck with your journey. P.S. Heat does help. -
So I an 4 day post-op and I am getting hungery. I have a protene shake in the am and about 3 hrs later I am hungery again. Last night I woke up at 2 and 5 starving. Here is the thing. When I eat, I cant eat very much. 1/2 can of soup and sometimes I cant even finish my protene shake. Im full so I stop. I just get hungery faster. I am only eating 3 times a day like they said, but this hunger is killing me. Any sugestions?

What kind of birth control do you use?
sandiburn replied to aroundthetown's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
If there are any of you out there who dont want to have any more children, I would sugest Essure. It is parmanent birth control that is easy and very inexpensive. Its and office procedure and I was back at work in 2 days. It ony cost my insurance deductable 250.00. Which is a whole lot cheaper than anything else. Also, it is 100%. There is no way I will get pregnant. What they do is insert a coil, like a spring, in your fallopain tubes. You will grow scar tissue around them which seals your tubes. After 30 days they do a dye test to be sure there is closure. It is amazing!!!! Cheap, easy, and 100%. -
I was banded yesterday. The dr said I have lots of air inside and I would hurt for a few days. Besides gas-x and walking around the house, is there anything else. The pain is bad.

I read about a card you can order that some restraunts will honor for a smaller portion. Someone posted a web site where you can order one. Does anyone know what this is?

sandiburn replied to BaileyRose's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am 3 days post-op and I have some tightness too. I think mine is the gas because of the way it comes and goes. I feel better today. Hopefully it will pass. Good luck in your journey. -

My heart goes out to you and yours. I agree..... you are among friends here. You should see if there is an armed services help center of some sort in your area. Use your resorces. There should be something. You and your husband will be in my thought s and prayers. -
Great Job. Keep up the good work.

So everyone is right.. The gas pain is the worst. The surgery went well. They found a hurnia (sp?) so they fixed it while they were in there. If this gas gas would go away I would feel fine. Walk ing helps for sure. Oh and I was VERY thursty for a long time. Sips so you dont choke. Caughting is the worst. Good luck to all.

Well, I have to be at the surgery center in 1 hr. Everyone in the family is still sleeping and I am about to go get ready. I feel good except I want my morning coffee. oh well. Its just 1 hr right. I am looking forward to getting this process started. Im sure I will be fine, but wish me luck anyway.

Day before Lap Band Surgery-HELP!
sandiburn replied to Clairebell's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I agree with everyone. I am also a self pay. My surgery is this morning in.........wow...... 1 1/2 hrs. I am still a little scared. However, I know that this is what I need to become healthy for my family and for myself. My mom had a massive stroke 5 yrs ago and lost 35% of her brain mass and it was mostly caused from her not taking care of herself. I dont want my family to go thru that. I know that if I cant be good for me first, that there is no way I can be good for them. Its funny how our mind can play such tricks with our emotoins. Follow your gut. What is it saying to you. Its ok to be selfish if its for the right reasons. Good luck with your journey. -
I am starting my liquid diet on Saturday morning. I went to the store today and stocked up on what I think I need for 2 weeks. We are going out to dinner tonight since it will be my last meal out for a while. I WANT A STEAK. I'm thinking either Outback or Texas Land and Catle. Not sure? What did you eat?

I did the same thing. I lost 5 lbs the first 5 days and gained 1 back today. I have my surgery tomorrow. Keep your head up. It will all work out.

starting a new life with the lap band
sandiburn posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
So I had a thought last night while I was trying to go to sleep. Let me start from the begining. I get marrried first of last year. As I think back to planning the wedding I am feeling now about what I felt then. You plan and plan. Get all your ducks in a row. Then you wait. Your day finally comes and you are just ready to get it done so you can start your new life. Once the ring ( band) is put on, the real work begins. Just like marrage, the band is going to take some lifestyle adjustment, some successes, and some struggles, but it is totally worth it. My work will begin on Thursday, 8-4. I am feeling all of this and just wanted to share. I am looking forward to my banded life. -
