    Products for pre-op diet

My doctor recommended shakes that have less than 20g of carbs per serving and more than 15g of protein per serving. I haven't found some that I really like yet. The EAS premade shakes from WalMart weren't too bad though.

    Feel The Burn

I've been on my pre-op diet for a week now and have lost 10 lbs. I eat mostly eggs, canadian bacon, or a Protein shake for breakfast. For lunch, I'll make half a tuna fish salad sandwich or something. And if I get hungry before diner I'll have another protein shake. Then, for dinner I've had a lot of chicken or ham with broccoli. Last night, we had pork chops and a can of mixed vegetables. I haven't been stingy with the sauces either! So, it's easier than you might think. Plus, all the protein doesn't leave me as hungry as I thought I would be. Just try and keep the carbs as low as possible, and the protein above 80g a day and it should be no problem! Just keep reminding yourself that if you don't do it, then you won't be able to get banded! That's what's keeping me motivated.
  3. Hello! Welcome! This site can be a huge resource to gain information on the procedure. I'm not even banded yet and I feel more prepared than ever! I hope you find out everything you'd like to know. Personally, seeing before and after pictures was enough for me. Haha.

    Lapband Fills

Hi Darlene! I haven't been banded yet but I went for my pre-op appt. today and I asked the exact question you did. Now, it mostly depends on your insurance. I have Tricare and I was told that I can go to my Family Doctor to get a referral for the fills and insurance would cover it. And, most likely the Nurse Practitioner will be the one doing them. But, again, it does depend on what insurance provider you have.

    PRE-Op Lap Band Diet

It wasn't required for my insurance (Tricare) but it is required for my surgeon that I do the high protein, low carb diet for 2 weeks prior because it helps to shrink your liver which makes it easier to do the surgery laparoscopically. It all depends on your surgeons preferences but I think there's less risk if you diet before.
  6. Had my pre-op appointment today! It got me 10x more eager to get this over with and start a new chapter in my life!

  7. Thank you for your sweet comment! I, too, wish you the best of luck on your journey!

  8. My pre-op diet is officially started. I kind of wish I had a better "last meal". Haha I'm pretty excited about it though because it means I'm one step closer to the surgery. Wish me luck!

Well, the it's finally the 11th.

Thank you Diva and Jen! I guess your doctor is aiming for fat free food instead of low carb? I think eggs have a high percentage of calories from fat but that isn't saying a lot since there isn't a lot of calories in eggs to begin with. In my opinion, eggs are the perfect food for this kind of diet because of all the Vitamins and nutriets it has, as well as, high Protein, and 0g of carbs. I guess you could always ask your doctor if you're allowed to have them.

Well, the it's finally the 11th.

Thanks so much guys! I'm on the high Protein, low carb diet as well. For Breakfast, I just fixed 2 eggs and 3 slices of Canadian Bacon. I imagine I'll be having a lot of that during the next 2 weeks, as well as chicken and tuna. Haha I'm not too creative with food. I just feel lucky that I'm not on the Clear liquids diet that some people have to go on. The surgery is on the 25th. Only 14 days, I can't believe it's almost here!

    Hello, all!

Hi, everyone! My name is Kelly, 22 years old, from Columbia, SC. I've been lurking around this site for a few days now getting as much information about the lapband as I possibly can and I finially decided to join today. My pre-op appointment is on Wednesday (7/13) and my surgery date is on 7/25. I officially start my pre-op diet tomorrow and I think I'm actually excited to get started! Mostly, because it means I'm one step closer to getting the surgery and starting my new life. Just from browsing the site I've been almost reduced to tears because hearing and seeing everyone's amazing transformations is so inspiring and I can't wait to have my very own success story. Everyone here seems so helpful and encouraging I couldn't wait to come on and introduce myself. Is there anyone out there from the SC area? Also, feel free to share your story if you'd like. I love to hear them.
  12. Well, the day is almost here. 20 minutes away from starting my pre-op diet. Really nervous, but excited! Wish me luck!

    Hello, all!

Thanks for the welcomes! Mimilou2004- My surgeon is Dr. Dalton Prickett with Palmetto Health Baptist. I've only met him twice so far, but he seems to be very supportive. I really enjoy the team behind him as well. Which is most important I suppose, since they're the ones I'll be seeing the most.
