    Surgery Tomorrow! In Nyc...

Aww sorry. NYU generator back up failed and they had to transport patients out. Can you imagine having to do that in these conditions? I am so relieved my surgery for today was cancelled. I am also still on the liquid diet and the doctor told me that I can eat but lean, no fats or carbs. Problem is, I have nothing in stock for me except the liquid protein shakes. When I went grocery shopping this weekend, which was tough to do, not being able to eat and buying all this foid for my family... I did not stock up for me because I assumed this storm wouldn't be this bad :/ We can't go back to food now we can do this let's stick it out. I'm thinking of it as a good way to start disciplining myself to have self control. I know it's not easy trust me, the storm brings stress and stress can bring hunger but I'm sure they won't make us wait long for surgery.

My Sleeve Date Is Oct. 30Th!

My surgery was postponed due to hurricane Sandy. I will receive a call on Wednesday to reschedule. So I can eat lean, no fat or carbs. I already went to the market to buy food for my family to stock up for the storm, that was a challenge! Going to the market without being able to eat is torture. I really don't have much I can eat myself here but I do have some broccoli, maybe a boiled egg and my shakes? Day by day is what I keep telling myself.

    Surgery Tomorrow! In Nyc...

@Sarzc, yeah I'm here wsiting for that call that it will be postponed. I am having surgery in NYU so I think they might need to shut down. They did for hurricane Irene last year. Ugh. I've been in the liquid diet for the past 2 Weeks, I've lost 8 pounds I was hoping to lose more but at this point I was really looking forward to the surgery. I have little support though, so maybe it's best if they postpone it. Just our luck, huh? Hey, let's look on the bright side at least we won't need to travel by boat to get to the hospital! lol

@ MommySleeve, I hope they do because if I do have to go in, I'll probably have no one to go with me.

    Looking For Buddies From Nyc

Thanks. I was called in to show up on Mon. 8:30 am and hopefully it won't be cancelled because of the storm. If I don't get a call by Sunday. I'm good to go.

    Looking For Buddies From Nyc

Went to my PCP today for the final paperwork stage, my medical clearance. It's done! I'm down 8 pounds since the start of my liquid diet which was last Monday, the 15th. I'm excited! Little nervous about the anesthesia because I did take a little longer to be up after a previous surgery I had. I did tell the doctor and anesthesiologist about so hopefully it'll all go smoothly this time.

My Sleeve Date Is Oct. 30Th!

Congrats & Best of Luck! Mine is The 29th. I'm excited too!
  13. I guess having pre-surgical testing today made everything seem so real. It's hard to explain but I think my nerves are kicking in. I wonder, can I really do this? I know I will try my very best but for example I'm on day 4 of my 2 week pre op liquid diet and I'm feeling easily fatigued. I don't have anyone who can accompany me in the hospital during my stay and with this surgery I would have appreciated it. I've lost 5 pounds in 4 days. I will have my family be there for the surgery and when I get discharged.
  14. I have the muscle milk ready, lol! I'm trying to mentally prepare myself for this now. It'll be a day by day thing I guess. Tonight my dinner will be some Mac & Cheese which I haven't had in ages, and a small cup of rice pudding. Then, bye bye food
  15. Thanks, I'm excited! Dr. Christine Ren-Fielding is performing my surgery at NYU. My surgery will be on Oct. 29th. Congrats on your sleeve. How are you doing?

    Exercising Before Surgery

I'm still waiting for my surgery date. Medicare has yet to pre-authorize my surgery. I'm in NY. Anyway I've slacked off and when I last visited my surgeon I had regained the few pounds I managed to lose. I want to start getting back on track. I want to start using Fitness Pal and Fitbit again. It cam take at least a couple of months more before I actually get a surgery date but I am wondering if you all think it would be a good idea to start my gym membership now so I can Start with cardio and hopefully toning. I have flab in my belly and I am afraid of the additional flab after surgery so I want to do something to it. I'm 38. I probably won't be able to afford excess skin removal surgery and not sure if my insurance would cover it anyway. So...what do you guys think? Start exercising? Yes or no? How long would I have to stop post surgery?
  17. Yeah, here in NY we are still waiting for preauthorization.
  18. Who else is in NY waiting on Medicare to presuthorize? I was all happy because I'd heard that Medicare eas approving in NY on a case by case basis. While I know I am a good candidate for this surgery and have.a goid chance of being approved the not knowing for sure if &when it will be pre-authorized has me feeling a bit frustrated. I will see the surgeon on Friday. I have all my paperwork in since last month. One document I needed is ready to hand in when I see her Friday. So in all it's been over a 7 month wait of this process. I'm so ready to have it done.
