My nutritionist also told me I should only have plain yogurt and maybe add splenda or sugar free jelly. So I went out and bought plain yogurt with sugar free preserves. I haven't tasted it yet but yeah I was bummed I couldn't have the already made yogurts. It would be easier. The only flavor I really like is strawberry anyway

Hi, If anyone would like to keep in touch with me for moral support. I am basically on my own here. I am a single mother of a teenager and also living and caring for my elderly father. I don't have many people to help me. I have good friends that are supportive but few can really relate to what this surgery means to me. I will have my surgery on October 29th. I am on my third day of my liquid diet. So far so good. I am using Fitness Pal to keep track of calories, Protein, and fat each day. I have been a bit hungry, especially when I smell food or see something on tv or in a magazine. The shakes help fill me up at least for a while. I don't like the bitter aftertaste though. I remember reading somewhere what I need to take to the hospital with me. I can't find it now. Can anyone give me an idea of the most important things I'll need to pack? The doctor expects me to be discharged on the 31st in the morning. I hope so because there will be chaos in my home without me. LOL I am a little nervous but very excited. My goal is to lose about 95-100 pounds. Anyone who'd like to talk, I'm here! Maribel

I have surgery today! I'm in NY, I have to be at the hospital in 5 hours. Wow, I can't believe the day finally arrived! I freaked out a little yesterday, I've been more excited.than nervous all along. Yesterday while looking for a bag to pack my things in, I just lost my cool. I'm okay now I called my besr friend who I grew up With and proceeded to finish packing. I'm a single mom to a 13 year old daughter and well, of course the fear of something going wrong always creeps up. I have faith everything will be just fine and this will begin my new life which I so look forward to. Everyone on this site is amazing. It's such a supportive community if people. This is an extremely valuable tool for each of us going through this experience. I think that if this site did not exist I would have been driving my surgeon's staff crazy With questions, lol. Thank you to those who have replied to my questions and shown me support. I still have a long road ahead and I'm glad to know you'll all be here. I also enjoy paying it forward and giving support & feedback to those who are just starting out. Have a great weekend everyone. This will be a memorable one for me

Got My New Surgery Date!

Thank You! -
My surgery had been cancelled due to Hurricane Sandy. The hospital is still closed, I guess, but my surgeon will perform my surgery at another hospital. It will be this Saturday. I'm a bit nervous, but still excited...I've lost about 15 pounds since the start of the liquid diet. I've got a lot more to go. I'm hoping exercise will be enough to help with loose skin. Wow! here I go!

I'm on Day 6 of my pre-op liquid diet. I am feeling fatigue more easily. Hunger is not The issue I'm okay so far cravings not too bad and I feel satisfied after The protein drinks espevially, but I feel weighed down and just tired. Is it normal? I'm thinking yes because of The liquid diet my body is reacting to The change. Any thoughts?

Feeling Tired On Líquid Diet...
Alexandra39 replied to Alexandra39's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Over 11 pounds in a week? That's great! I think the reason you feel weighed down is because you've lost so much so quickly so your body is in shock. That's why you feel so tired. That's just my guess. Were you drinking enough protein? Good thing you began your vitamins. Good Luck! -
Feeling Tired On Líquid Diet...
Alexandra39 replied to Alexandra39's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I did feel more tired on the liquid diet. Towards the end you start getting used to it or it lessens. Hang in there. I've been on it since the 15th and I've lost about 15 pounds. Wish it could be more but the surgery will do that. Take naps if you can when you need to. I found I felt much better after a nap. -

Thanks Saddie. Good Luck to you too! -
...with Hurricane Sandy on its way...Yikes! I received my phone call on Friday to be at the hospital on Monday at 8:30am. However, there's still a possibility that it will be postponed. I've been on my 2-week liquid diet, doing good with that. I am eager to have the surgery but I do not live close to the hospital and it would be a challenge (especially for my family) if the weather gets too bad. I'm hoping for the best. I'm having my surgery in a hospital located in a low lying area which the mayor actually closed last year because of hurticane Irene.

Surgery Tomorrow! In Nyc...
Alexandra39 replied to Alexandra39's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Don't they let you take Gas X or something? I read someone packed that With them on their way to the hospital. I assume they asked the doctor first. Why don't you ask? Maybe it'll give you some relief. If I talk to my doctor I'll ask too. Hope you ladies feel better soon! -

Wow, that's great. I'm usually tired now too I was told I could eat light but I haven't been so hungry I have my moments though where I crave carbs. It's my daughter's birthday Wednesday. I wonder if I could treat myself for just one meal. I'd like to take her out. I have to ask the nutritionist since I could be called in soon. I hope I don't get called in for Wednesday! -
