What ya eating tonight?

How far along are you? -
My nutritionist told me that since I'm past the 3 week post-op mark, I can now move on to soft foods from the pureed foods that I've been on. I must say, I'm excited but scared too because I fear getting sick. I went food shopping yesterday evening and picked up a variety of food I can now have. Many things I purchased were lowfat so that's a change for me. My local supermarket is small and doesn't have a great variety of healthy foods so I go to one not close to home but where I know I will find more foods good for me now. I bought Italian-style meatballs (beef), lowfat American & cream cheese, low-sodium ham, angel hair pasta, low sugar ketchup, etc. I think I overdid it, lol but I don't think most of these things will spoil quickly. I'm starting off breakfast today With a one-egg, egg salad, and a piece or two of ham. I hope it goes down well. Wish me luck!

Does anyone know just how many ounces of foods we can have at each meal during the soft food stage? For example, for dinner I would like to have 4 ounces (1 small individual container) of lowfat cottage cheese With msybe 1\4 cup of green peas. Is it too much? or the Smart Ones I think is the name of a small microwaveable dinner entree which plan to eat only half of which would be about 2-3 ounces of Salisbury Steak and about 1\4 cup of Mac n Cheese. I just began soft foods, I was only eating 1/2 cup which is 4 ounces of any pureed food per meal. I'm not sure what to eat now.

This entree is small and I was going to attempt to finish my half of the Mac n cheese but it did seem like too much. I bought it because the Salisbury steak is soft and moist. I won't have it until I check With my nutritionist first this Friday Thanks.

I know I was allowed 1/2 cup food per sitting when I was on pureed. My list says I can have peas amd beans. Every doctor/nutritionist seems to allow different foods so it can get a little confusing. I read here some people eating shrimp but I'm not allowed. I'm allowed to eat well cooked pasta and some people here aren't.

I had 3 medium/regular size meatballs and 1\4 small hass avocado. They were italian-style meatballs so they are beef and only after I ate them (dipped in low sugar ketchup) I realized they also contain pork. I missed that when I was reading the ingredients at the supermarket. I rarely, (once in a blue) moon ate meatballs. I was so preoccupied looking at the ingredients that my daughter can't have (she has food allergy) that I missed the pork. Ugh. I'm upset with myself. No more of those meatballs for me! At least my daughter can have them. I overdid it today. I hope I don't get sick. :/ -
That's amazing! So great! I'm happy for you, sounds like you've been doing a great job following the new eating habits. You motivate and inspire me to continue being strong and not cheat. This journey started in October for me I was at my highest weight ever 224 lbs (I'm only 5'1) and today I am at 157 lbs and still dropping and I haven't even started exercising yet. It's a tough process & lifestyle change but so worth it.

Really? I love Reese's. Where can I buy them? -
I know how you feel. Be strong, don't cheat! Head hunger is craving food but not because you're truly hungry but because your taste buds are craving...This is all a process, we are all getting used to a new lifestyle. We're learning not to eat from boredom and/or stress. I know I am thinking about food constantly these days...cravings all sorts of foods, even foods I've never tried before. The good news is that because we cannot hold large amounts of foods, our bodies will teach us just how much to eat. This will take time. You may not be drinking enough or getting enough protein also. You can always drink every time you feel that head hunger just to keep yourself occupied almost like trickong your taste buds. Crystal Light fruit punch works for me because it's very flavorful tastes just like Hawaiin Punch. Don't cheat because you don't want to get sick or stretch your pouch. Good Luck!

I heard there is sublingual Biotin. Anyone know where I can purchase it?

So good to know it is temporary and will grow back!

I'd love the recipe for this! -
Before surgery I usually could only drink water if it was cold or.sometimes I'd even add a little sugar for flavor (I know, bad). Since drinking cold drinks don't agree with me too well, I haven't been drinking plain water. It's just not the same for me at room temperature. So my liquid intake has been mainly Fruit20 or Crystal Light. Someone told me these have a lot of.sodium. I think about maybe trying plain water With some Sweet N Low... I also plan to try Isopure drink...I need the protein. Any ideas on how else to keep hydrated?

This sounds good too. I will try it, thanks!

Okay I think this is safe for me to try then. Sounds yummy! -
It's tough to cook for others when I can't eat myself. I only barely taste a tiny bit for flavor and it's tempting but I know better... Another thing I've realized, it's strange but I had an easier time staying away from food and ignoring and not craving so much during my pre-op diet. Could be because the protein shakes kept me full. I was on liquid diet and NPO (nothing by mouth) for a long time after surgery due to complications and even that I could handle. Now is when I'm starting to miss food more, weird.

I've been long for it because I really want to try it. They just have the regular Kool Aid at my local grocery store. I don't know if I have a Walmart here but I'll keep looking! Thanks!

Oh thank goodness, I love Crystal Light. I recently tried the Fruit Punch flavor and it's great! Tastes like Hawain Punch, I love it. Going to.the market tomorrow to look for it and stock up hope they have it in stock! Thanks.

I can't wait to wear clothes I like. I can't wait to be back to a size 7\8 or at least a 9/10. I can't wait to find going shopping (for clothing) enjoyable again. I can't wait until I can look into the mirror and like the way I look again. I can't wait to feel lighter, more flexible and have more stamina. I can't wait to be able to travel more With my daughter. I can't wait to be complimented on my new body. I can't wait for long walks again and exercise! I can't wait to feel confident in a bathing suit. I can't wait to feel healthier. I can't wait to not live my life worrying if I will die young as a result of obesity or being overweight. I can't wait to teach my daughter and set the example for my new healthy lifestyle.
