I Wish Someone Had Told Me....
longer-life replied to ShouldBlittler's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You might have hit the nail in the head. I read "a million" old and new threads on this website for 5 months before surgery and to this day (week 11) there is nothing I wish someone had told me. That can change any minute of course. (knocking on wood) -
I didn't exercise on my first 8 weeks. I simply strolled for a block or two every other day, for 10 minutes or so. More for relaxation & to get some sun. I have always had low energy and that is all I wanted to do. On my 9th week I finally started feeling "lighter" and I took one of the bikes in my garage to get a tune up. I have been riding it leisurely for about 15 minutes on most days. I am on my 10th week now. I had not ridden a bike in 30 years and I am 44. In April, after I come back from a trip, I plan to join a gym. That will be on my 4th month. I think it is great to start exercising early on, but I don't do guilt. It doesn't help at all. I do what feels right to ME. I am progressing at a pace I feel comfortable with. I hope this helps.

Ask The Person Below A Question, Answer The One Above.
longer-life replied to LilMissDiva Irene's topic in The Lounge
No bungee jumping for me! Thank you. I want to run a 5K someday. That is as daring as I will get. LOL (The next person should answer SKCunninghams question and then 100 Sleeveds question) What is the most important thing you ever learned on this website? -

Swallowing Pills Whole
longer-life replied to SecretStarr82's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was given my 3 prescriptions to swallow whole at the hospital (with a tiny sip of liquid) and I had no problem with them. I was told to wait 10 minutes between them. My pills are small though. They are size of Zyrtec pills. Perhaps you can look those up and compare to yours. -
M2G answered what I was hoping to hear. Seems we will be able to continue to use them as we lose weight. Also, to my surprise, I want to look good everyday now. I don't want to wait to get to goal to start dressing nicer, so that is why I decided to go for it. Perhaps consider a basic color so you can use it often. I would have only bought one, but I have a 10 day trip coming up and I think I want to wear them daily. :-)

Could I Possibly Ever Weigh 130Lbs ?
longer-life replied to monalisa1010's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
By reading tons of tickers I came to the conclusion that an AVERAGE of 10 pounds a month is a reasonable expectation. I could be wrong, but that expectation has kept me sane and super happy with my loss. -

Aww shucks!!!!!! Have you considered trying Divas 5 day boot camp? http://www.verticalsleevetalk.com/topic/28139-the-basics-boot-camp/ -
Went shopping with my lace Fat Free Dressing Flexees all day long today and I loved it! I wore it under my jeans and it stayed put. It was comfortable enough that for most of the day I forgot I had it on. I really liked my smoother torso. (I have never been able to tolerate my Spanx for more than 5 minutes). Just ordered two more on Amazon (one with lace and the other without). As everyone said, they are true to size. I will never go shopping for clothes without one on! Thanks everyone!!!!!!!

Am I still at a risk of complication? I am on week 10 and feeling great except for a few exceptions that might be related. Not sure if I am being hypochondriac or if I should call my surgeon. 1- For the last week or two (not every day) I have had mild pain on my left side, between my breast and waist area. Closer to the waist area. In a scale of 0 to 10, that is level 2. More of an annoyance than anything else. 2-Last night I was sitting drinking a Protein shake (Peanut Butter, Lactaid Milk & unjury unflavored) and I had a stomach pain that started at level 10! I got up and had to put my head on the kitchen counter and then wobbled to the bathroom. TMI alert. I only urinated a bit and passed gas a bit and the pain went away. It lasted a total of about 2 minutes on level 10. 3-In the middle of the night I heard a popping sound coming from my stomach. Was I dreaming? I have no idea. It has me worried because of Lissas friends experience at the gym. I have had chest pain since last night but it feels identical to my occasional costochondritis (harmless chest wall pain). I am very gassy today. Should I call my surgeon? I am usually all for calling them, but I'm wondering if it is just excessive gas.

I Am Not A Good Cook - Any Ideas Regarding What On Restaurant Foods That Will Work Well With The Plan
longer-life replied to janerose's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This made me smile. You sound like my sister. Perhaps a combination of the advice you have received here will work for you. Consider logging your foods on a website like myfitnesspal.com, so you have an idea of your calories, Protein & carbs you are consuming. They have tons of foods eaten at restaurants there. You can make this work! Best wishes! -

Am I Being Hypochondriac?
longer-life replied to longer-life's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The nurse and surgeon believe all of my symptoms are related to gas. It makes sense, but I will keep paying attention on how I feel. Thanks everyone for your advice! -
