"Starving" to death
longer-life replied to Miters36's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I suppose our bodies can only stay in starvation mode for a certain period of time, not indefinitely. -
IS THERE ANY LATINOS HERE????
longer-life replied to LANENADELCACHEL's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hilarious Adri! So glad to hear you have been able to eat so many great dishes early on. I'm Dominican American and had been asking myself the same question as the original poster. We don't eat spicy foods like you, more like meats, Beans & rice, but now I know it can be done! I will try some of your foods though! LaNena, I was thinking strained sancocho, pureed habichuelas rojas, very soft carnes guisadas,Cuban style black beans etc. I guess a taste here and there of white rice or mangu won't kill me. I don't like canned Soups so I was thinking of making my own broths and/or buying some at restaurants. -
How long before you stopped losing weight
longer-life replied to Loooou's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Looou you did not sound hostile to me. We are not seeing each other face to face and sometimes people misinterpret how we mean things. I haven't had surgery yet, but wanted to ask if you have considered going to a "bariatric friendly" nutritionist? Since you are only 4 months out and have tried everything on your own, perhaps a professional can guide you through it. Just a thought. -

Not a little difference at all when it comes to recovering from surgery. -
Extra help?
longer-life replied to DallasMomofTwins's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have not had VSG surgery yet, but I did have another major surgery when I had no family around and my child was 4. My husband could only take 1 day off, so my mom came from overseas to help. I made sure my house was clean, laundry was done and the fridge was full before going to the hospital. Since you have no idea how you will heal it depends on how many days your husband is taking off work and if the children will be in Kindergarten/Preschool during the day. Like the previous poster said, you might want to consider having a cleaning crew come in once during your first week post-op and/or a babysitter for a few hours to keep them busy and give you some peace. I remember asking my mom to take my hyperactive daughter to the park so I could get some quiet time. Maybe I am a wimp or something but a day or two ago I read on this website how someone was scrubbing bath tubs & doing laundry one week out. That is not something I would do. I have had surgery many times and I tend to "pamper" myself by allowing sufficient time to heal & take care of my needs with no guilt or worries. Best wishes! -

Numbness & tingling hands and feet
longer-life replied to melaniec's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I noticed that you posted on a Saturday and most posters asked you to get help ASAP but yet you had to wait until Monday. I suggest asking your surgeon who you can turn to on weekends. Some things just can't wait. IMHO -
I also became a mom through adoption! Congratulations!

A little disappointed with myself...
longer-life replied to Amanda131's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Someone on this forum said something like "so what if I took the easy way out? I tried the hard way and it didn't work". I wish I knew who it was to give her credit. I thought it was brilliant. Something to think about if your subconscious betrays you again. Also, stop hemming & hawing! -
