    Seven months and 92 pounds

I haven't had surgery yet so please excuse my question. How much effort do you have to make to eat this way? To my "volume eater" mind & stomach it seems you have eaten 3 ounces of Protein & a little veggie for 7 months. :-) Gulp. On Weight Watchers I felt like I was under Water and eventually had to come back for air. Hope my question makes sense. I'm having a hard time wrapping my brain around this. I am also on my phone.
  2. I'm bumping your question. Hopefully you get some answers and you call your surgeon. I have not been sleeved, so I have no idea. Do you weigh/measure your food? Could you be overeating?

Pre Op Diet- No diet at all?

I'm jumping through insurance hoops at the moment. Hoping for end of November.

How are the Florida sleevers doing????

Yes, except I will be the only one NOT sleeved. Argh!!!

    New guy here

Welcome from me as well. I think you will love this website. Read away in the next few days and you will have great questions for your surgeon on your upcoming appointment. Come often, the wealth of information here is amazing. Best wishes!

Pre Op Diet- No diet at all?

My surgeon doesn't require the 2 week pre-op diet for BMIs lower than 40. Not sure if he does a day or two of liquids, I haven't asked yet. I am exactly at 40 (was 39.9 at orientation) so I am hoping I don't get one. I see the benefit, but I am a volume eater and have no desire to suffer like that. One or two days of liquids before surgery is punishment enough. (I will, of course do it though if he requires me to)

How are the Florida sleevers doing????

    Eddie! How are you feeling?
  10. Bigserv can you believe he didn't ask any of your questions? Not one!!!! Thanks everyone for your support & ideas on how to proceed! I won't let this stop me regardless. SkCunningham, so sorry about your sister in law. I also love my EX sister in law like a sister. That must have been terrible for you.

How are the Florida sleevers doing????

Oh Emily I am so sorry it was awful at first. Glad to hear you are doing good now! Hi there Cindylosingit. I am in Jacksonville as well. I have not had surgery yet though. Hoping in November.
  12. Did I misunderstand the question and comments made by the original poster? I am surprised by the answers she is getting. It seemed to me she is upset about the timeline. She is questioning the length of time it is taking to complete the sleep study and proceed to surgery. In my case it only took a few short weeks from initial sleep study, to diagnosis of severe sleep apnea, to second sleep study and receiving a machine. It is taking her months!
  13. My sister in law had a bypass about 6 years ago and has lost and maintained 140-150 pounds off. She is at a normal weight and has no regrets whatsoever. However, I did not want my intestines touched. Malabsorption (sp?) scares me.
  14. Hi!

I met Dr. Marema this week for the first time. He answered all of my questions. I was pretty much decided before I met him though.

I won't get approved (or not) by my insurance until October, so can't schedule until then.

Have you checked the "band to sleeve" section in this forum? They speak horrors of the band. Not trying to scare you,...

  15. Welcome Paola! I am Dominican American. Looking forward to reading your posts and seeing your progress!
  16. Sounds ridiculous. Did you spend a night at a sleep center? I spent one night and was diagnosed, then one more night to determine the pressure I need & try different machines. That is it aside from phone calls asking me how I am doing and an appointment coming up soon where they will read what data in the machine. I am surprised your surgeon requires this AFTER being approved by your insurance and that it takes months for you rather than 2 evenings for me. Do you have any surgeons & hospitals of excellence in your area? If you take your approval to one of them, you could probably have surgery in a few weeks!
  17. Hi Christin,

I have also picked Dr. Marema. When is your surgery? I am going through insurance hoops and hope for end of November. You are self pay, so it is probably soon.

I live in Jacksonville and had been all over Florida (and the rest of the country) EXCEPT the panhandle, until a month or two ago. We loved it.

    Take care,

  18. It sure helps. I didn't "flunk" those questions, so I am a little more optimistic now. Thanks.
