    Type 2 Diabetes

Yes!!!!! Yes!!!!! My grandfather, dad & aunt all died young due to diabetes. One uncle just lost a toe, my brother was recently diagnosed and I found out this week I am pre-diabetic! Granted, my aunt was thin as a rail, so I might still get it, but I don't want to have obesity complicating matters even further. One thing is worrying me though. For some reason, there are surgeons, including mine, that believe gastric bypass is better for diabetics. I don't want the bypass regardless, but now that I am pre-diabetic, I can't stop thinking about it. I see people here all the time that there diabetes goes into remission, so I don't know why some/many surgeons think this way. Best wishes!
  3. I loved your response, but it is not making you happy, so I would pick another one. I have been using self-deprecating humor all my freaking life and I want to stop after surgery, because like you said "it is not fair!". Why not smile and say " I don't know yet" or " I will know when I get there", or " when I get as thin as you" and stick your tongue out. LOL Just kidding. Whatever suits your personality. I am 5'4" as well and I think your goal is within "the charts". You are braver than me though. I will shoot for 140, so I can fluctuate 5 pounds. I was even thinking 150. lol. I hope to have surgery next month. We will know when we get there.
  4. Unjury chocolate protein contains milk. I just went to their website. You might be lactose intolerant.

    HELP! STEROIDS!!

I have to take steroids sometimes (for something else), so I will be checking for the answers you get. (I am pre-op) Check this website. It lists many steps that you can take before deciding to take steroids for plantar fasciitis. http://www.ncbi.nlm....lth/PMH0004438/

    homemade broth

I don't like canned now, so I suppose after surgery will be the same. I haven't made this yet, but sounds good to me. http://allrecipes.com/recipe/homemade-chicken-broth/detail.aspx

How are the Florida sleevers doing????

Holy cow as I was typing this I realized November is NEXT MONTH already! I am hoping to have surgery next month. I did not even answer your question. I will be having surgery with Dr. Marema at Flagler Hospital. Who was your surgeon?

    Pre surgery diet is working!

YOU are making it work by following your doctors orders. Good job! In regards to the above statement, there is a recent thread on this website in reference to this. Wish I could remember the title. Lots of people wrote what they answer to this. Good read. My answer (to people that care about me) is "think about all the people you know and tell me 1 or 2 that have been obese all their lives and lost over 75 pounds AND KEPT IT OFF". Silence. That is what I "hear".

So HUNGRY ALL THE TIME! Please help

Please know I have not had surgery, but this popped out at me. Since the calories in and calories out "thing" is not an exact science and our bodies are different, I wonder if your body is STILL not satisfied with the amount and/or the quality of food you are feeding it. Just a thought.

    Creamed Soups

Did you mean Zuppa Toscana? I don't know. I certainly hope so because I don't like canned Soups and hope this is a keeper for my full liquid phase. Do certain soups not blend well??? I haven't had surgery yet. I have to say the sausage, bacon & potatoes settle at the bottom of the pot. The liquid on top is delicious. That alone (strained) would be worth it to me. Here is the recipe I used. Make sure to read the reviews. There are lots of ideas there on how to make it healthier. http://allrecipes.co...ana/detail.aspx

    Olive garden

I was so happy to read this that I made it for dinner last night. I haven't had surgery yet and I don't like canned Soups, so I have been on the hunt for ideas. It was delicious. My family really enjoyed it. Here is the recipe from Allrecipes.com in case anyone wants to prepare it at home. Make sure to read the reviews as there are lots of ideas on how to reduce calories and fat. I, for example, used lactose free skim milk & cornstarch instead of cream. http://allrecipes.co...ana/detail.aspx

    I'm a vegetarian: pre-op & post-op HELP!?

I agree! That would be very depressing for me. I will be going 100% lactose free after surgery ( I am lactose intolerant now) and I am picky, so my choices are a little limited as well. I don't know how to say this politely, but I plan on "making" the nutritionist work a little harder for me. I don't mean this as rude as it sounds, but I feel I shouldn't have to tackle this by myself. You might want to consider doing that. I am also researching online, planning on cooking more, saving crock pot recipes for different stages & I will be going up and down the aisles of Whole Foods to see what I find. Like you, I will also post a thread here. Like Sassygirl, I will pretty much go to full liquids right away, I wonder if your surgeon will accept this in your case. Best wishes!

How long do you stay full after a meal?

This is music to my ears. :musical_note: I hope it happens to me too.

    ONEDERLAND!!!

NICE!!!! I have about the same amount to lose as you. I hope I do as well. Congrats!
  22. This and Baby Tatum..........PRICELESS! :baby:
  23. Thanks for answering. Hopefully you have lined up appointments with a series of professionals (nutritionist, your surgeon, psychologist etc) to help you search for a solution to this serious issue. Consider posting a thread about it here as well. You never know what the experienced sleevers can come up with. Best wishes!!!
  24. Hi lovemyboys, I haven't had surgery yet. Could you please elaborate a little? All foods taste weird to you so you are not eating? Is that why you have lost 70 pounds in 2 months or have you had another complication? What does your surgeon or nutritionist suggest? Sorry that you are going through this.
