I don't think you are over thinking this. You might want to search on this website. There have been posts about this. Seems some husbands want to "claim" their wives in front of others, some wives get jealous of the attention their husbands get, others have had to go to counseling etc

My Verticle Sleeve Experience
longer-life replied to Helen the Cat's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Congratulations! Loved reading about your experiences. Funny you said about you thinking Californians are all thin. I used to live close to San Francisco and they were ALL thin and fit! OMG, I must have been the only obese person in a 20 mile radius! I have no idea where the heck all the NorCal people on this website came from but they were NOT in my freaking neighborhood! LOL Anyway, glad to hear it all turned out great for you. -
Concerned about my dad
longer-life replied to Gayle's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I second the opinion that he goes to see his PCP.I have a very good one and "Out of an abundance of caution" she ordered a stress test that my Surgeon of Excellence did not. I have no doubt I have an excellent surgeon, but a second opinion is always great. Best wishes to you and your dad. -
Losing touch
longer-life replied to illgeturhairdid's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I feel similar to you, except I'm obsessed. Lol. I haven't read a good book in months and I come here many times a day. I had a very good time at a wedding last night, but I daydreamed for weeks about ways to get out of it because I want everything to happen after surgery. I also bored my great family members and what did I do? Come here more often, of course! LOl I am actually making an effort I don't develop unrealistic expectations. I am making sure to not have selective reading. I try to let the good, back & the ugly sink in, not just the good. @Mel. I know I will be told I've changed, even if I don't. I learned that when I became a supervisor years ago. A "friend/coworker" kept telling me that but her face kept betraying her. It was clear she wasn't happy for me, I had not changed. Besides, I will change after surgery. My core values won't, but being happier & more energetic will bring changes and some people can't take it. Too bad, so sad. Can't please everyone. -
I'm a volume eater. I went on Meridia for about 45 days when I started my last Weight Watchers stint. It worked great. It suppressed my appetite enough that I didn't quit and went on to lose 50 pounds. HIH

Dealing with bansters when you change.
longer-life replied to HunnyBunny's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I have Cowgirls same fear. . My surgery is on Nov. 16th and I have no doubt this surgery is a risk I have to take, but I also fear a possible rabid enthusiasm here. I also fear my brain. For the last few months, I have tried real hard to focus on the bad and the good of VSG, and not be selective of what I want to hear. I hope I have done a good job of it and it all turns ok for most of us. Perhaps one of us should write a thread about this. -

I am pre-op so not sure if your weight loss is within "normal" ranges. You might want to post this in a different thread if you feel it isn't and you don't know why.

OH MY GOODNESS MeMeMeee! I really hope all this will be a distant memory really soon. Big hug to you. Remain positive! -
Anyone willing to share their timeline of events from the start of the process to the approval of the surgery??

I have butterflies in my stomach and a first ever cold sore to prove it. -
Dealing with people being jealous of weight loss?
longer-life replied to GonnaLoseIt's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well, then I'm bad too because there is no way I would have stayed quiet a whole day listening to all her nonsense. I would have been nice, but straightforward. Something like, "I am not competing with you. I think you are beautiful. I'm trying to get healthier, not compete with you. I hope this doesn't affect our relationship. By the way, did you see our favorite Cereal is on sale?". -
Did anyone do their Psych Eval and Nutrician Appt BEFORE attending the seminar?
longer-life replied to AllForMy4's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Maybe it's my "linear" personality, but it felt weird to even set up appointments with my surgeons bariatric team before meeting him. I researched him extensively, but I felt I needed to meet him and "hire" him, before going to see "his" nutritionist, psychologist etc. I did not want to get "too deep" with his practice, in case I wanted to switch. This is not necessary though, it's how I roll. -
Why wait? Have him call in a prescription to your pharmacy.

My thanksgiving day rant
longer-life replied to Eyemallrt's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I also have the bean pole friend & a sister in law that eats and eats, don't exercise and never gain but they don't make a dent on a buffet for ever meal, I do! When they are stressed or sad, they forget to eat and skip meals. I never forget to eat. We are not with them for every single meal or bedtime snack. I also have the brother that was a bean pole and ate a ton until his early 30's and is now obese with severe sleep apnea & a fatty liver in late 40's. I don't know anyone that can eat and eat like I do and not gain weight. I think that is something we tell ourselves. That is what I have experienced in my world, so it is obviously based on my experiences. Having said all this, I do think we are not all "built" the same way. I don't think it is as simple as calories in, calories out & will power. Something will be discovered someday that others won't have to have to have their stomachs cut in order to eat normal portions. -
Almost there

Hey you guys...
longer-life replied to LilMissDiva Irene's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Wow, nobody will recognize you at the next family reunion! You look great! Congratulations. -
My sister in law had bypass 5 years ago, lost about 140 pounds and has kept if off without every exercising. She missed goal by about 25 pounds though. However she looks great, is super happy and very energetic. I am not advocating this at all though, but you just had major surgery. In my opinion, six weeks is not a long time at all. It took me 2 full months to somewhat recuperate from hysterectomy.

No before pictures? You look healthy. Like you were thin all your life. Congratulations!

Photo Shoot....pics attached.
longer-life replied to Lanette's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I have nothing original to say. You DO look beautiful on the before picture and you look beautiful now. -
Yep. My "Cpap doc", (that is also a pulmonologist), told me the same thing today. Since you are still snoring, I would not stop using it. Call your doc and see what he/she recommends. Mine might not even be cured after weight loss, so I will have another sleep study done.

Timing of your surgery
longer-life replied to CowgirlJane's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It is probably not the ideal time. I do worry a little. I would rather not have a lot of extended family around, just my immediate ones, but it is what it is. I will deal with it. My desire to begin 2012 already sleeved and somewhat recovered is much greater. Having said that, I know I won't pick a date before November 12 though. I have awesome tickets to see Sting in concert and I won't miss it! We have to have our priorities straight, ya know.
