  3. Yep, I felt this way too. Actually my primary doctor made me pause for a good 24 hours. I lost about 4 pounds in a month (which I regained) and as I was getting off the scale she said "Maybe you don't need this surgery". Aaaaaaaaah! She is a great doctor and had been very supportive all along, so her words came as a surprise. Luckily for me the next morning I remembered how many times and how hard I had tried to lose and keep the weight off on Weight Watchers (and other diets). I never looked back. My doctor continues to be supportive and I have never been happier! Best of luck! Only you know what is right for you.

    Would You Have Done It?

Yes I considered WLS "just for the sake of losing weight". I only knew about my sleep apnea after I decided to have surgery. Othere than that I had no obesity related health issues. I knew it was a matter of time though and that is why I did it. Diabetes runs in my family. Also I gave Weight Watchers my all and failed time and time again. I knew diet and exercise alone wasn't going to do it for me. Hope this answers your questions.

    Brief Update

Wow, glad to see this post. I was wondering how you were doing and was going to send you a message today! You should have seen my eyes pop out when I read your dramatic drop on clothing size! Lol. Congratulations!!!

    Coffee Caffenated

Tons of sleevers drink coffee and many surgeons are ok with that. Some are given coffee at the hospital! Like others said it is an irritant and some get hungry, but for some there are positive things like you mentioned, such as energy. To some it helps go to the bathroom easier, if you know what I mean. My surgeon didn't allow caffeine the first month but since my acid reducers were not working properly at the time, I waited longer to start my espressos. Now I add Water to them (Americano) to make them less strong and I don't drink everyday. In another words, whatever works for you,but keep in mind that it is an irritant and it makes some people hungry.

    I Got Approved!

Congratulations! These are exciting times! By the way, I'm Dominican American and you look Dominican to me. :-)
  11. I second what SweetP and SleeveDreamer said. Just wanted to make sure your surgeon said that was the cause of the pain. Feel better soon!
  12. Did your surgeon say it was due to the hernia repair? I had a hernia repair and I didn't use pain meds after I got home. (I'm not one to tough it out, like you I would have taken it for as long as necessary).
  13. Hi everyone, I had no idea buying a heating blanket could be so confusing! I have read a ton of posts on Amazon and people complain about them regardless of the price paid. All the features are driving me nuts as well. I read some even have a bunch of wires between the blanket and the electrical outlet. I am looking for a twin size to keep on my side of the bed that I can just plug easily and be warm at night! Nothing complicated! (My husband doesn't want it near him so that eliminates the heated bed covers). Please share brands, models, where you bought yours etc.

    Bk & Kfc.... Who Knew?

I am only starting to tolerate grilled chicken breast (3 months). Try dark meat. An ounce or two of chicken in a sauce like chicken cacciatore, chicken tika masala or rotisserie is way easier. A little chicken salad might work too. Dark and moist is the key.
  15. Not sure I understand. You are lactose intolerant before surgery and your surgeon says you may not be lactose intolerant after surgery? Maybe I am wishful thinking. lol
  16. I carry most of my weight in the middle of my body so it took me about 30-35 pounds to go down a full size. I have now lost 40 pounds and use shapewear but I am not close to going down a size again. Many lose a size every 15 pounds, not me yet. Hopefully you have been taking your measurements every month. Be patient! It will happen. (christin, the poster above me, reminded me of that the other day and it's working. )
  17. This is a great suggestion. Just want to point out that unfortunately they are not lactose free and some people become lactose intolerant right after surgery. (I have been for years. ) Actually just remembered reading something about their return policy. I think they take them back.
  18. You might want to try GNC since they will take the products back if you don't like them. Not being stuck with those huge tubs of protein is a big saving. :-)

    Sorry I Have Been Distracted...

You are worth it too, but you already know that. I hope your doctor gives you good news soon. Big hug to you. Sorry about your mother in law.

  23. Your insurance will determine that. I also didn't mind getting a machine. I had forgotten what it was to wake up refreshed and ready to go. They are sometimes hard to get used to, but your attitude will help you greatly!
  24. If you have no symptoms and your doctor requires a sleep study I would question it. I wouldn't do a sleep study unless there is a very valid reason. There are tons of people here that had this surgery without a sleep study. I did have symptoms so I asked for one and sure enough it was severe. I wouldn't have gone through the expense and trouble without good reason though. Please let us know what your surgeon says. I am curious.
