What Are The Steps To Being Approved For The Vsg Surgery
longer-life replied to jillbeme's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Since every insurance and policy is different, I first called my insurance (Aetna) and asked their requirements. They have them posted online so I was able to read them a million times. I then picked an experienced surgeon and team. They called my insurance and confirmed my requirements. Once I completed those requirements my surgeons office turned them in and I was approved less than 72 hours later. Hope this answers your question. Best wishes! -
It must be SO nice to start a new job without all the weight and baggage that comes with it! Congratulations. I loved ALL your NSVs.

How Many Carbs After Gastric Sleeve Surgery ?
longer-life replied to bikerchick519's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Stalls are normal. My surgeon doesn't focus on that. Seems yours doesn't either. As a matter of fact it is my first week and I must eat 4 oz of pureed fruit a day. I prefer this approach. On this forum many have been successful both ways. Since I am not carb sensitive I hope to get to goal while enjoying carbs. I suggest you talk to your surgeon before making any changes. Best wishes on whatever you decide! -
I was served my first shake at the hospital! My surgeon only does clear liquids for 20 something hours.

Glad you are happy! Our bodies will do what they will do and 20 pounds a month is AMAZING! I am trying to reign in my imagination so my expectations don't get out of whack. This beats ANY diet we have tried in the past right? Take care!

Increasing Appetite With Gastric Sleeve Recovery Normal?
longer-life replied to sirensiren's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hang in there!!! I don't get full from my shakes either. I have always felt "neutral". Neither hungry nor full. I start off with 4 ounces of warm tea & my PPI. Right away I move on to Protein for Breakfast. Then I go back to thin liquids (tea, diluted crystal light, smart Water etc). If I feel I am about to get hungry (or even before this feeling), I go right back to protein. I sip ALL DAY LONG. I haven't met met my Fluid goal of 80-100 ounces yet, but I do meet my protein goal of 71-89 grams. What are your goals? Just remembered I am allowed 4 ounces of pureed fruit a day so that might be helping me. -
@Geno- so happy to hear you are calm!!!! Yeah!!!!! Breathe in, breathe out sweetie. @Liliana-same to you. Breathe in, breathe out. Sending tons of good vibes to Geno and you.

Got My Gastric Sleeve Surgery Date -- Small Dilemma!
longer-life replied to LoserMama's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hmmm I would question why you will be taken care of one doctor (doctor #2) and handed over to yet another one (the 3rd one) if there are complications. That is what I would be uncomfortable with. If the second doctor is not trained to take care of your potential complications, then I wouldn't want him there at all. Also, my practice has 2 doctors and one is the "guru". One is the surgeon of excellence. The other one might be competent, but he is up and coming and I only wanted the master. That is just me. I'm picky. Best wishes in whatever you decide. -

When can i start really working out.
longer-life replied to HunnyBunny's topic in Fitness & Exercise
You don't have a ticker so I don't know how much weight you have to lose and how much you lost pre-op, but this is what would be worrying me. This doesn't sound right. :whatchutalkingabout -
The 20% Insurance Doesn't Cover
longer-life replied to omamilam's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I went to a center of excellence (my surgeon is a surgeon of excellence in a hospital of excellence) but I paid about $3000 out of pocket. I was asked to pay in advance but I also did not ask if I had other options. Most of the money was for the hospital (my deductible/out of pocket) and $600 was for the bariatric office. Some bariatric offices have much higher fee than $600. Research that. You might save yourself a lot of money. -

Where Is Your Support When You Need It?
longer-life replied to EnjoyingWhoIAmBecoming's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I would work really hard to save a 19 year old friendship. I would talk to her, email her, write her multiple times...whatever it takes. She might not agree with your surgery (she is entitled to her opinion), but you can tell her how you wish she would support you or how she is making you feel etc. In my opinion friends or family don't always have to agree with us. As a matter of fact, I would worry if I only have people around me that follow my same religion, politics, race etc. Having said that I wouldn't tolerate mean things like sabotage, gossip and such. I hope you can save this friendship. 19 years is a lifetime. Best wishes! -
