Possible Minor Setback - Need To Whine Briefly :)
longer-life replied to Indymom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Heck yes! Whine away sister! We will listen. Many people hate prednisone but I love it despite its side effects. What is has done for me is miraculous. I hope it helps you get back to your new self very quickly. -
Stalling, Or Slowing At 3 Months Post Gastric Sleeve Surgery ?
longer-life replied to turtlebutt825's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You might want to ask your nutritionist how many calories you should consume. I just read the thread below and it made it even more confusing. http://www.verticalsleevetalk.com/topic/27525-need-guidance-on-carbs-and-calories/ -
Throat Burning Feeling...
longer-life replied to Katrina Huxley's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I suggest you speak to your surgeon or primary care physician. Acid reflux is common with VSG patients and sometimes it can be silent. A poster here said she neglected to take her meds and it lead to pre-Barretts disease, which is very serious. Best wishes. -
2 Days Post Gastric Sleeve Op..why Am I Hungry?
longer-life replied to MsLadyKanKan's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I get hungry too so I just sip sip sip all day long, especially my protein shakes. That might go away once we can eat more solid foods. I always reach my protein goal of 71 grams or I would be really hungry. I drink homemade seasoned broths for variety, but it's the protein that keeps me "neutral" (neither full nor hungry). :-) -

8 Days Post Op Gastric Sleeve
longer-life replied to free2beme's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hi there, I am 9 days post op and have been on full liquids since the hospital. What you are going through is normal. I get hungry if I don't sip all day. I use myfitnesspal.com and consume about 600-750 calories a day. Do you have Protein and Fluid goals you have to meet? I have to drink a minimum of 71 protein grams a day and at least 80 grams of fluids. I do meet my protein goals everyday (or else I would be starved), but my fluids hover around 64 ounces. In regards to weight loss, I don't lose every day. I have lost 12 pounds since surgery (no loss before) and that exceeds my expectations for ONE MONTH, lol, so I'm good! Don't panic. You are doing fine. Consider calling your nutritionist if their guidelines are not clear. -

CeeCee & Geno nice hearing from you! Sorry it has been rough. Many positive vibes your way! Hoping it gets a little better every day!!!!!! Hi StrasVegasGirl. I can't wait to get to the pureed stage, lol. Happy decorating! Hi Michell, hi everyone! I survived Thanksgiving on full liquids! It is over, I enjoyed my family (30 of them!) and stuck to my plan. Wow, I would have NEVER been able to do that before being sleeved. I must still be under anesthesia or something.

What Are You Going To Eat For Thanksgiving?
longer-life replied to TiffanyC's topic in Food and Nutrition
Yum Terry H! I am on full liquids so before guests get here tonight I am meeting my Protein quota, so I will have a bowl of homemade delicious broth my mom made for me. I might attempt to make a spoonful of corn casserole very soupy and enjoy that too. We shall see. -

Something To Be Thankful For
longer-life replied to Sassygirl06's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Our celebration is tonight and I am still on full liquids, but I will be ok. I have some yummy homemade broth that I will sip while we chat and eat. I am glad I didn't wait until after the holidays. I'm on the "other side" and I'm thrilled! In regards to VSG, I am thankful I had insurance that covers it. I am thankful I found a wonderful surgeon. I am thankful to have family support. I am thankful for a lot more, but I won't bore you. :tongue2: Happy Thanksgiving! -

Bad Panic Attack -- I'm So Scared. I Need Positive Post-op Stories Or Is This A Nightmare Mistake I'm About To Make?
longer-life replied to CoffeeAndMagazines's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Think about this a lot. That is what gave me a lot of peace. I knew I had a surgeon at the top of his game.. That is why I picked him! I also knew he has a great team that would know what to do, even if complications were to occur. The rest was out of my hands. I prepared for the worst and wished for the best. Guess what came true? It's my day 8 and I have had NO buyers remorse, I have lots of energy, I continue to be positive.......I am so darn happy!!!!! I did not plan for this. My family and I are super surprised at how I am feeling. I was prepared for a tougher battle. Actually I still am, in case there are tough days ahead of me. I am sure you researched this thoroughly and you know deep down you have made a good decision. I wish that you do some breathing exercises, read a good book, go for a walk........or whatever calms you down. Trust that you did your homework , now help yourself by thinking positive. -

Did Anyone Not Have Any Issues After Gastric Sleeve Surgery?
longer-life replied to Kristin's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Lol I just posted something similar. I had surgery on the 16th and "only" had a bad episode of nausea/heaving etc for 45 minutes at the hospital. After that it has been easy peasy. On my 6th day post op (today is 8th), I got to my highest of 107 grams of protein/ 71 ounces of fluids PLUS 1/2 Jello, 1 popsicle & 2 ounces of pureed fruit! GULP!!!!!! I did not have a pre-op diet, but I do have a positive attitude. I am attributing it to good luck or...... not being normal. :blush2: LOL I am thankful too! Best wishes on your journey! -
Need Encouragement - No Weight Loss For 4 Days
longer-life replied to Michell's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Michell I am very glad you got your answers! I hope you don't mind me crashing your thread. Perhaps the previous posters come back and help me out a little. When you mentioned you had surgery November 7 and the maximum calories you have ingested is 370 my eyes nearly popped out! :whatchutalkingabout Yesterday, on my 1 week surgivirsery I consumed 650! It was not my highest day either. 739 is my highest day. Gulp! I obviously have no restriction yet and I drink all day to meet my Protein requirement and I also get hungry if I don't. All those calories come from Protein shakes, unjury chicken Soup, a sugar free popsicle and & 175 calories from 8 ounces of Panera's French onion soup (strained with no bread or cheese of course). I am over the moon with a loss of 10.5 pounds in a week (all my weight loss is after surgery), but it is slower than others and I didn't lose any weight today. Am I normal??????? :blush2: :blush2: (I am laughing at myself as I ask this :arf: ) -

8days Post Gastric Sleeve Op
longer-life replied to Cheekychapuk's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
My recovery has been much smoother than I was expecting. I did have a 45 minute hellish episode of dry heaving, nausea and acid pain the first night at the hospital. After that it has been surprisingly good. My family members are amazed. Granted for a week all I have done is sip sip sip and walk walk walk, but I'm grateful. I am knocking on wood that it all continues this way for all of us. :-)
