  1. Am I the only one that thinks the stall will break when Amanda starts eating different foods at odd hours and doing different activities than her usual?
  2. FYI ..I have been lactose intolerant for years and my NUT suggested whey ISOLATE. I get them at GNC but they have them everywhere. I have had no issues.

    Banana Babes

Hi Lifechanger! Welcome! I have been on full liquids since the hospital and I sip all day long! The mantra on this website is sip, sip, sip and walk, walk , walk. Glad to hear you feel great. I am doing wonderful too and I want to keep it that way. I am afraid if you don't increase your protein and liquid intake, you might start to feel exhausted. That is our nutrition right now. (I am not a doctor though, that is just what i read on this site, so take it with a grain of salt) I am required a minimum of 71 grams of protein and 80 ounces of fluids everyday. I have been able to meet the protein requirement but "only" get up to 62 ounces of fluid. I think this is good for 2 weeks post-op though. To get there, like I said, I sip all day long. Perhaps giving yourself variety might help. I am also required to log what I eat and the ounces & grams so I can show the nutritionist. I was given a "menu" or sample day to follow. I start my day with 4 ounces of a warm beverage (milk with Torani syrup, no caffeinated tea, Unjury chicken soup), followed by a protein shake made with milk and flavored with vanilla extract, Torani syrup or whatever I can think of. That was breakfast. Then I let my chewable vitamins sit in my tongue. This takes a while. After this I continue sipping on fluids such as Powerade Zero,Smart water with a splash of Crystal light etc. Then for lunch I have another shake, more vitamins and I continue sipping. For dinner I have a homemade seasoned broth, a sugar free popsicle......and you guessed it.......more fluids until bedtime. :tongue2: We are not encouraged to drink creamy soups, but I know many do. Perhaps others can chime in to give you more ideas. Hope this helps. P.S. Shakes, popsicles, tea, broth etc count as fluids.

Updates us when you can VFB!!!!! Geno, glad to hear you are doing good now!!!!
  6. It is! That is exactly how I felt when I set up the appointment to speak to the insurance coordinator at my surgeons office. You might want to search for Surgeons of Excellence in your area so you can ask the insurance case worker if they are covered and you can set up an appointment right away. Also try searching for Pcos on the top right of the home page. I have seen lots of posts about it here.

    Thanksgiving Was Strange!

Me too! I still can't believe I did GREAT on Thanksgiving despite having a ton of people at my house and still being on full liquids! Granted I didn't cook, but I sipped away and had a great time. I could not have done that before being sleeved!

    My Apprehensions....

I am having the same experience as pattimomof3nj. I am still on full liquids and had a ton of family members over for Thanksgiving and I had a great time enjoying everyones company. I, of course did not cook or ate any of it, but "I didn't die". LOL You are planning and that is WONDERFUL!!!!!! You will do great!

    Thanksgiving "survivor"!

I am on full liquids and also have no regrets that I picked a date right before Thanksgiving. I had about 25 family members over (I didn't cook) and I did great! Like everyone said here, "I enjoyed my family members company" as i sipped my protein shakes. I eyed a thing or two for a few seconds and moved on. On Friday and Saturday there were two big "eating" parties as well and I stayed on plan. I couldn't have done that before being sleeved. I am so darn happy! :tea:
  15. I was able to sleep on my bed right away but for two nights I moved to the recliner at about 5am. I was able to sleep on both sides without pillows about 5 days post op.

  18. Your welcome. I forgot to add that I gained all the weight back between my last appointment with my PCP and surgery date. :blush2: Food funerals were .....great.
  19. Wow, I never thought it would be this fast! I have to day it has been an easy process with Aetna. I called them a few months ago and they directed me to their "Clinical Bulletin" at "myaetna.com". Since it lists EXACTLY what they cover, there were no surprises. Having an experienced bariatric center I am sure helped too. They provided my PCP with a sample letter of medical necessity and the document to fill out on every one of my (supervised diet) visits. The insurance coordinator also gave me a list of everything I needed to turn in. I feel very lucky and happy tonight! There is hope if you have Aetna!
  20. You ARE a success story! Good job! You look great.
  21. I would call the nurse at yours surgeons office. It might be normal but since you HAD energy and it plummeted, I would ring them. Also, I take Multivitamins, Calcium, Iron, anti-oxidant & potassium daily. I just bought my b-12 today. What do you take?
  22. Are you having surgery in the US? Your surgeon should have a team to help you with this. If not, I suggest you contact a nutritionist with bariatric experience. You don't want to end up being thin and unhealthy. This is way to important. Best wishes!
  23. One big difference Kacee109 is trying to point out is that she has NO recourse in Mexico. Had she had this surgery done in the US there are groups, organizations, lawyers etc she can go to and get help. She is out of luck and being ignored BECAUSE she went to Mexico. I am not saying, don't go overseas, I am saying this is an important point that should be part of the equation when making a decision. Is this doctors name Dr. Rod or Dr. Rodriguez? What city?

    Using Vst As My Solace

Another way to save time is to call your insurance and ask what their requirements are. Believe it or not, a lot of people do not do this. If you pick a surgeon of excellence (which you should in my humble opinion), the insurance coordinator will call your insurance at the very beginning of the process and CONFIRM what you were told so there are no surprises. They might even provide you or your primary physician forms to fill out so it is all in the exact way the insurance wants it. I see a lot of delays here because the surgeons staff is inexperienced and they send the wrong or incomplete information to the insurance. An experienced team is essential for your health and speed. Best of luck!
  25. I was also given small pills on day two. Do remember though that not all pills can be crushed, dissolved or split. Check with your pharmacist or read the documentation that comes with it.
