Question For Pre-Op/post: Ever Thought About Chosing A Different Surgery Like The Ds/bypass?
longer-life replied to Kiki Von Moonshine's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Like Bedhead, I won't go further either. Despite my sister in law being a bypass success story (maintaining 140 pounds loss for approx. 7 years) , that surgery or the band are not for me. Either this works or I will remain obese. Only you know what is best for you though. Research, research, research. -

Congratulations!!!! I always enjoy your posts. You have done great and look wonderful!!!!!! -
Worst : Taking all the Vitamins and the weight stopped "falling off" easily after only two months. Best: Months of happiness, hopes and dreams.

Welcome! I am happy with my surgeon and his team, but there is no way they could have taught me what I have learned here. If you haven't done it already, consider reading old threads in all the different categories (not just post-op and pre-op). The information is amazing!

Hair Dye And Hair Loss
longer-life replied to Tina293's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Opinions vary. Many believe it helps with regrowth, not hair loss; others swear by it for hair loss. Let us know what your nutritionist says. -

How Many Carbs Do You Eat Daily?
longer-life replied to kayte819's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I just pulled a report from 'myfitnesspal" and in the last 30 days is has been anywhere between 30 and 65. I also only pay attention to protein and water. -
From One Addiction To Another
longer-life replied to MoonSiren's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I can't wait to shop! I have even warned my husband about the money I plan to spend. lol However your words above send mini red flags. Consider setting a monthly budget so you don't feel guilty and enjoy this reward! If you continue feeling guilty and not being able to stop yourself, then perhaps you want to talk to a professional about it. In regards to your credit history, like a previous poster mentioned, I wouldn't close them, I would let them sit inactive. -
Congratulations!!!!!! It is very exciting! Breath in, breathe out, this is an awesome journey! Please keep us updated!

Struggling With Food (Vomiting) And In My 2Nd Mon. As Of Today!
longer-life replied to mmoore's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I totally agree. I want to make sure Emlefe knows that in case my post did not reflect that. -
Struggling With Food (Vomiting) And In My 2Nd Mon. As Of Today!
longer-life replied to mmoore's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Go slow though. Try starting with the softer foods that emlefe suggested like egg salad (or ham salad, tuna salad),tofu, laughing cow, yogurt, cottage cheese etc, in very small amounts. I couldn't eat chicken breast, deli meats or meatballs on my 5th week. Laughing cow and mozzarella string cheese had to be at room temperature. Similar to Emlefe, I was basically getting my nutrition from shakes (more like 80%) and sampling 1/2 ounce of this and 1/2 ounce of that. Consider getting new recipes for shakes so you can go easy on the solids. Our tummies do not all recover at the same speed. You will probably start tolerating more and more soon. -
Your welcome. I wouldn't tell him/her on the phone though. I would mention it on your next visit. Glad you are calm. Best wishes!

Sorry for being so specific but I wonder if you go to to bed IMMEDIATELY or if you wait a bit. I fear reflux. Ravenjeh, hope these questions help you too. I'm not trying to hijack your post.

I don't have room for them after Breakfast, lunch or dinner. Do you mean after you wait an hour after meals?

Taking vitamins have been challenging for me. Like you, when I take 3 at the same time I get nauseous. Somehow I have been fine with 2. I don't eat after. I keep drinking fluids until my next snack or meal. It's a pain having to space them out so much, but as you know, nausea sucks. :-) Good luck!

Eating And Drinking- At The Same Time.
longer-life replied to Harmonic15's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I can definitely say it doesn't hurt my stomach, but it causes me to eat more so I stopped. (Won't bore you with the details as to why I did it to begin with.) It is much easier to not drink and eat at the same time now. I can see how it will soon become second nature. Best wishes! -
I would have been pissed too! Make sure you set up all your future appointments accordingly so you don't have to go through this again. He should have believed you because your PCOS must be in his charts, but also understand a lot of patients lie, so they are incredulous. Once at your pre-op weight, if I was you, I would have a brief , nice but direct talk with him/her. It will benefit you greatly if he knows you are committed, so this doesn't happen again. Remember you will seeing this surgeon for a few years! Something along the lines of "I want to let you know I am very committed and serious about this surgery. Last time I reminded you I have PCOS and had my period so I gained X number of pounds and you didn't seem to believe me. I know some patients lie so that made you incredulous but I want to make sure you know I am not one of them. I am committed and I will follow your rules but I am going to need your understanding once in a while." I would then smile.

I Am More Than Just A Weight Loss Surgery!
longer-life commented on Lyra's blog entry in Lyra's Canto
The other day I ranted about my pants falling off and later I had to laugh at myself. lol At the end of the day you have a great group of friends and a tech that has never heard of VSG. Hopefully you will smile later. :-) PS. By smiling and saying to your friends "I promise I'm good" (or something like that) and changing the subject when they bring up surgery will take care of it eventually. Po-tay-toe, po-tah-to = HILARIOUS!!!!!!! LOL -
Where do you get these? What brand? Thanks for reminding us about Eggface. I love her Breakfast bites. Need to go there for more of her recipes.
