    Traveling? How Soon Post-op?

I'm not kidding. I hope your sister lives nearby. I will email you.
  2. Remember most if not all her salary comes from tips. She probably thought you didn't like it and that affects her pay. She wanted you to elaborate a little more, that's all.
  3. Congratulations!!!!!!! It must be an awesome feeling! What are you taking for your heartburn?

4 Month Update! 97 Lbs Down!

    Major Stall.... Ugh!

clk posted this a few days ago and I think it is brilliant. I hope she doesn't mind me reposting it and it helps you! I think too many of us focus on the fast losers when we're planning for surgery and then we assume that once we're sleeved the weight is going to just fly off. Not everyone is so lucky. My starting weight is close to your preop weight but you must be taller than my 5'1" and some change because my BMI was much higher at your current weight. I was a slow loser. Slower, I guess. There are a handful of people here that are even slower than I was. It took me 17 months to hit goal, to lose 107 pounds. You cannot compare yourself to everyone else. If you're doing the right things and still losing, the sleeve is working. You can try to adjust your food or exercise for a better result but I caution you against doing anything drastic that you won't be able to maintain. Part of why the sleeve is great is that it does away with the need for that diet mentality and helps you build positive habits you can maintain forever. Some folks cut the carbs down to 20 a day, something I consider extreme, but if they can live their lives that way and get great results then it works for them. My biggest piece of advice isn't one you'll like, but it's something you're going to have to get used to at some point or another. RELAX. That's it. Because this isn't a race. I promise you, 85% of your stomach just got removed from your body so you're going to lose weight. I see this over and over and over again on the boards - people just so frustrated and worked up because they expected to lose the weight faster, or people that get mad because they feel they didn't need the surgery if they were going to be slow losers. It took me 17 months to reach goal. It took me 17 YEARS to go from where I am now to my high weight. Am I any less pleased with my success because it took me longer to get here? Nope. I'm happy as can be. Track your food. Eat responsibly. Get your Protein in, drink your Water, start moving more. In six months you're going to be posting that you're nearly to goal. Give your body a chance to recover from the fact that it's lost 27 pounds and undergone a major surgery the last two months. And yes, even if you want to break the scale sometimes, and even if you don't lose for two weeks of the month (like me) you're going to lose this weight. So, RELAX. ~Cheri

    Traveling? How Soon Post-op?

I suggest you tell your sister you will take naps daily and not to make a ton of plans so you don't feel pressured. You might not even have to take naps at that time though, but I think it will set the tone of the vacation. I would return to Chicago two days before going back to work to plan meals, clothing and rest! The Florida sun, family & your brother in laws yummy meals will do you GOOD! Have fun! PS. If you are coming to NE Florida, I would love to meet you!
  8. Wow Sandyd your attitude is AMAZING! Carbgrl I hope this helps to turn you into a "Protein girl".
  9. Be careful. I went to the movies on my first week or two and when I told my surgeon "popcorn didn't kill me", he went pale! I meant the SMELL of popcorn didn't kill me. We had a good laugh afterwards, but him going pale tells you everything.
  10. Happy to hear from you!!!!! Wishing the swallowing issues go away real soon. Keep us updated!

    Doubting Myself

Every time I start to worry, this is EXACTLY what I replace those thoughts with. It works for me!
  16. Me! Not only is it barely visible but no oozing, no discomfort, no pain, no nothing. Not that I will ever wear a bikini, so scars don't bother me, but I figured, less holes means less chances of the things I listed above. I was right.
  17. Wow a 3-6 month wait is a long time! Going to check out the Whirley Pop in Amazon
  18. So happy to see you "on the other side"!!!
  19. This is why I don't set weight goals. Our bodies don't always lose weight in a way that makes complete sense and I don't want the added stress and disappointment. I do set goals to meet my fluids, Protein & Vitamin requirements. In January I will set a goal for exercise. The rest will take care of itself. Good luck to you too fellow Banana Babe!

Tagine- The Most Perfect Meal For Gastric Sleevers!

OMG I have to unearth my tagine! My husband and I will LOVE these recipes!! Thanks! If you have any recipes using lamb or curries on the tagine please share them! (sorry your wife doesn't like curries). Better yet.......why don't you write a blog or a thread that you can update periodically? I will always be a foodie, sleeve or not! I see you live in Norcal. I used to live there and I was in food heaven! lol
  21. I will be happy to participate. I am very early out though (6 weeks), so I will let you decide. Perhaps it will take you some time to send out the questionnaires and I will be ready.
  22. Yeah! Congratulations!!!!!!!!!!!!

June Sleevers Whats Your 6 Months Status ?

Exoticheart, can you elaborate on what your "new normal" looks like? How is your life nowadays? What amounts of food can you eat, what doesn't sit well, clothing...etc Your new life in general. That will help us newbies a lot! Looking forward to this thread!
  24. When on Weight Watchers I used to make mangu with a little olive oil and "I Can't believe it's not butter". Pam fried egg & onions on top! BTW I have some Puertorrican in me as well. My paternal grandfather emigrated from Puerto Rico to the Dominican Republic. So like your husband, I am Dominican, Puertorrican, American. Nice talking to ya'. Keep me updated on the yummy things you have been able to eat!
