thickinphilly replied to zoelifechick's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
you go girl, you sound like my sister Nikij she is 13 days out and this is her first day back to work. she was release the next day after surgery and when she got home she was walking around fine in minimal to no pain. when her home health aid came she was amazed at how well she was doing. you sound like you are on your way. you were able to fix dinner for your family five days out and that's super. you sound like you are well on your way to a speedy recovery. congrats on your sleeve and keep up the great recovery. make sure you keep us posted. -
this is not true i know one of the contestants personally and what you see is what it is. the weight loss is in a week. the only thing that we do not see in it's fullness is how many hours they spend in the gym. they actually spend 8-10 a day in the gym instead of the few hours we see. that time is broken up all during the day but it that much time. this is why they loss the weight that they loss.

hey it's been a while since i've seen you post. you were one of the first people that i read up on when i joined this site about a year ago. you look fabulous. i am 22w and if i could get to a 16w someone would have to slap me. mind you i'm no closer to my sleeve but that's a whole other story. you have done a great job i surprise that you want another 50lbs off. you look fine just how you are today. continue to work your sleeve girl you have done fantabulous. -
hi guys i have not made a post in quite a while i've been reading about everyone and you all are doing great. i'm still no closer to my sleeve but that's another story all together but i digress. i just had a general question for everyone, how much weight did you lose on your pre-op two week liquid diet. i'm just curious any feed back would be greatly appreciated. every one keep up the good work and i am so happy for everyone progress.

hi guys thickinphilly here it' been a while how is everyone doing? i have been reading the updates as well as some of you guys frustrations. keep up the good work and remember even a half pound is a loss. any way i don't know if you guys remember my story i'll be brief. i was going through all the motions to have this wonderful life changing surgery and then it came to an abrupt stop becaue it would have cost me over $7000.00 out of pocket expense and this is after insurance. Any way one of you guys gave me a link to a site that give grants for WLS. i entered in all my info but i have not heard from anyone at the time all the grants for 2010 were depleted but i was told once grants for 2011 were opened i would be notified and like i said i have not heard anything. i can't remember the site if one of you recall this please send me the link again so i can reach out to them again and if not i'll keep pluging until something happens. thanks guys and everyone keep up the great work and i will one day be were you guys are. i will not stop until i have my sleeve.

miss my sleeve family
thickinphilly replied to thickinphilly's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
awe guys you don't know how much your comments mean to me. i do feel like we are a family and i enjoy sharing my day to day with you guys. like most of us i have struggle with my weight for over 25 years and some time you need people who know how you feel first hand. well to i lost 15lbs which is a drop in the bucket when you need to lose 100 but i'm greatful for that little bit. my new gym will be open in a week so i'm really looking forward to that so i should have some progress reports for you guys weekly. everyone have a great weekend -
hello sleeve family HAPPY VALENTINE DAY EVERYONE i really miss you guys i have not been on the site in so longer. wow i have been reading and catching up with everyone's progress and achievements. everyone is doing well i see and i am very proud of everyone. Well my status hasn't changed. i'm still not able to get the surgery but i'm working on my weight it's slow and steady but it's working. i miss you all so much i really felt like part of a family on this site but since i was not able to get the surgury i felt i really didn't belong here. i feel like i'm in on something that i will never be able to experience. any way everyone keep up the good work and take care. ps nickij (my sister) she's doing well and still toying with having the surgury because she is 100% covered would blue cross and blue sheild. i'll keep you guys posted. thickinphilly

hi what about coffee and other beverages that stain the teeth. straws help alot in preventing that from happening.

hello everyone i feel back from the site because i received some disappointing news about two weeks ago. i will not be able to get my sleeve. finally i thought i would have a chance of being a normal size not. I found out that there would be a $7000.00 out of pocket expense that i just simply can't afford and this is with insurance. I don't have the option of a loan no one in my family has this kind of money to loan ( i wouldn't any way no way to pay back) there is just no way i live check to check and $7000.00 is a lot of money. i knew there was a $1650.00 deductable which i was fully aware of and ready to pay but i was forgetting about the 20% that Aetna will not cover it just completely slipped my mind. I was told because this is elective surgery all moneys had to be paid up front. it took me this couple of weeks to finally except the fact that i would not be able to have the surgery. i know some of you would suggest mexico still a cost of $7000 to $8000 same difference i can't afford it. this is worst than being denied by the insurance company at least you can appeal that. i don't have and won't have the money that i would need to pay for the surgery. i was so encouraged i thought i would finally have a some what of a healthy body. yes i can go on a diet and i can lose 50 or 60 pounds ( not a lot when you need to lose 140) but i will gain it all back plus some just as i always have over the last 20 years. i am 330lbs with a bmi of 53 and looks as if this what i will always be. sad in philly thickinphilly

How much do you eat 17 weeks post surgery?
thickinphilly replied to Sarah Elsekhawy's topic in Gastric Plication Surgery Forum
Sarah i have not been sleeved yet so i can't say i know how you feel physically with your sleeve, however i think this is when our good food choices come in. you may have felt like you could eat the whole pizza and you felt just fine but i know that you know that we should not eat a whole pizza. even if your full feeling did not kick in your common sense should kicked and know not to eat a whole pizza now that you have been sleeved. now don't get me wrong i know oh so well that it is easier said then done but you have the tool to help you make it less of a decision. your stomach is much smaller than it use to be so just the thought of that should deter you from eating large amounts of food. i guess this is what they mean when they say you have to learn to use your tool. you can do this you made the biggest move by having your surgery now you have to work your tool for the best results. keep you head up and focus on what made you make this move in the first place. thickinphilly -
Sleeved two days ago!
thickinphilly replied to seattle sleeve's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
LESLIEH i have not been sleeved yet actually i don't know if i ever will be due to financailly issue but that's another story. i believe you will get better. i can't say i know how you feel again i am not sleeved but from reading the many postings from this site there are people who felt like you and after a week or so they felt much better. it's only been a few days for you so you are bound to feel a littel out of sort but look at the long run you made the right decision i wish i could be in your place becasue i would take all that you are feeling right now in a heart beat just knowing that in few short weeks not only will i feel better but i would be losing weight as well. you will be fine don't push yourself too much and if you want to rest then rest. you will feel better in no time. thickinphilly -
What are my chances???
thickinphilly replied to mouseygirl73's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
mousygirl73 i don't mean to come off offensivley or anything like that but i implore you to really look into the DS because i have a friend that had it done and yes she has lost a ton of weight. she was like you 328lbs she had DS surgery 12/16/09 and she is down to 163lbs as of a month ago it may be a little more than that. the problem is not that she can't loose weight she does not look healthy and she knows it. the wieght came off too fast, it made her look older, she tired all the time, she always always always in the bathroom because the way that surgery is ten minutes after you eat you have to be very close to a bathroom if you know what i mean. she can't stop losing weight mind you she eats whatever she wants i do mean what she wants. she has not done once ounce of exercise and has lost half her body weight in less than a year. now this may sound good but it's not because the weight came off so rapidly it aged her a lot and she is afraid she will waste away to nothing because she eating but she is still losing wieght and she doesn't even want t lose anymore but it is simple out of her control. i know each person is different but i urge you to seriously think about the DS. thickinphilly. -
cbchebert you going into your surgery with the right one God with Him all things are possible. you will do great as well as have a speedy recovery. As soon as you are up to it post and let us know how you are doing. my thoughts and prayers are with you.God Bless thickinphilly

disappointed and hurt
thickinphilly replied to thickinphilly's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Becca i spoke to directly to the bariatric coordinator and she is the one that gave me the info about all money being paid up front because it is considered "elective surgury" i will not give up someone on the site said they are going through a program right in NY which is no where from me the function within the Aetna network so i may look into that. i also signed up to be notified about grants for 2011 so i will keep all my options open and see what happens. thank for your support. -

thickinphilly replied to thickinphilly's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
humpty dumpty i wish it was just that simply.my employer only offers insurance from aetna and i have ppo which is the top and aetna still only covers 80% the other 20% of it is all on me. the surgury is $26,000 and 20% of that is $5200.00 and then i have a $1650.00 deductable that i knew i had but $7000.00 i don't have and won't have. i will keep trying staying hopeful in philly thickinphilly
