18 day post-op and have gained 4 pounds......not sure why
thickinphilly replied to MissPrissBecky's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
msprissbecky oh that is terrible i wonder what is going on. are you able to excersise yet maybe that's what it is. i'm sorry this is happening to you. it has to be very frustrating and it is my worst fear out of the whole ordeal of having sergury. to take this big step and only loose 20lbs or gaining weight. keep you head up and keep doing what you are doing you should see some results. God Bless thickinphily -

2wk update and heart racing
thickinphilly replied to SouthernSleever's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
djackson you are doing extremly well you've lose 20lbs in two weeks i am very impressed. i have to tell you i do sometime get discourage when i see someone has been sleeved over six weeks and has only lost 20lbs (no offense anyone) i began to think we make this drastic move for 20lbs in a month i can do that without surgery i have done it several times of course all the weight comes back. then i read an update like yours and i,m like now that's what i'm taking about and i'm back on the band wagon. i know everyone is different and there are all kinds of reasons why people loose differently than others but it makes me think like what if i'm one of those people that only looses 5lbs per month or something i would be so upset to have going through all of this for those type of results. i know i know a lose is a lose but surgery for 5lbs a month naw. any way keep up the good work and i hope once i'm sleeved i will be able to report lose such as yours. thickinphilly -
sondrapj you are doing just fine from what i have read most people loose about 20lbs a month and that puts you right on target. you have lost a total of 16.5lbs which is good. keep doing what you are doing. i have not been sleeved yet but you let me loose 16lbs in one month i will be happy a pig in slop. you go girl!

thickinphilly replied to ryansgirl's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
i am so sorry for the lost of your aunt but what i will say to you is God looks at the heart your heart was with her even if you were not able to get there to see her. i have only been a part of this site a short amount of time but i will say your journey and little that i know about it has been so encouraging. i seen your transformation and that tells me this is possible it happened for her so it can happen for me. you were around the same size i am now 321 and wearing a size 22w. when i look at you i say she was me and i can definitely be the present her LOL! you look absolutely great (great arms by the way.) you did and excellant job with the tool that was given to you and i planned to do the same thing once i'm sleeved. congrats on your engagement and God Bless you on the new journeys of your life. thickinphilly -

Need some support!
thickinphilly replied to hopeandfaith's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
hopeandfaith i am so sorry that you did not receive the support from your family that you wanted but the bottom line is this is a decision that you have to make for youself. once you go to the seminars and or classes they will talk about people that have negative feedback and very unsupportive. this is a life altering decision and you need support. your oldest daughter seems to be on board but you need a good support system to get through. now why aren't you able to tell anyone. is this a decision you decided on or is this a demand of your husband not tell. if he is not willing to give you the support you need then you should be able to share this with someone that is willing to be there for you. this is a wonderful site and you most definitely find support here but some times you need someone tangible to give they hug when you need it. now if hubby is unwilling to be that person then i say if you have a best friend or a sister that would there for you by all mean let them know so you can have the support you need. i will add you as a friend i'm here to talk with any time that you need. thickinphilly -

a.walker way to go with the lower bmi you have every right to celebrate. it's the small victories that helps us reach the larger ones. i am heavy weight myself with a bmi of 51.6 i will be doing a victory dance the day it reach 40 and under i have not been sleeved yet but stories like this keep me encouraged and motivated. keep up the good work and God Bless. thickinphilly

ok bzbutterfly welcome to the vsg family you have found the right place for support and encouragement. now i'm no marriage expert but weight should not be a make or break factor in a marriage. there are too many other issue that are far more important than that. maybe your husband out look as this being a cop-out is just his way of being concern. belive me when i tell you all that we have to go through to have this done it is certainly not the easy way out. your husband does have a point because being sleeved is not the end all it's only a tool to help us reach our goal. if this is what you want then you have to move forward and continue on your journey. my husband is very supportive thank God but even if he wasn't this is what i need to do for me. i've tried evey diet known to man and the weight came off each time but it came right back plus some. i have not been sleeved yet but my decision is firm and i think this is the best decision that i've made for myself in a very long time. if this is for you then i say full steam ahead. prayerfully your husband will jump on board and be the support that you will definitly need. good luck and God Bless. thickinphilly

Just a little discouraged
thickinphilly replied to NikiS's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
nikij i can honestly say i know how you feel. my bmi is higher than yours and i am a diabetic but i constantly ask myself will i go through all that i am going through and in the end be denied? this whole process is a wait and see type thing. we have set backs that we least expect. i had my upper gi and they found what the think to be an ucler so now this has be investigated on top all the other things that have to be done to be sleeved. what i had to tell myself is that we are worht it. so i know you are disappointed but i say keep pushing and if you have to end appealing several times then you do just that and don't forget your surgeon with go to bat for you as well and prove to your insurance company that you do indeed need this surgery. keep you head up and God Bless. thickinphilly
