"Monster" Mash May heading in the other direction again - HOW SCARY! Up to 159.4! Since returning from a get away weekend with the hubby last week I haven't been good about tracking my food or keeping up my liquid protein. It just goes to show you how the weight can creep up in no time, even with exercise. It's a lot of work on our part to make sure all plates are spinning to make sure one doesn't fall. One more week - keep up the great work! Walking, walking, walking and planning on more this week with Disneyland planned for the end of the week to add miles and smiles. Hoping to get the scale moving with all this walking. Best of luck to all of you this week. May

It was a "water retention week" but with exercising and being really good about protein intake and even after being away for a weekend getaway, I am down! It was very frustrating to think I had gained weight and that it was going to stay. I am going to work my butt off this week and keep the scale moving DOWN! Congrats to all on the hard work to make the band work for you. I am a couple months post op and find myself snacking again. My doctor still makes me get at least 60-90 grams of liquid Protein a day so I really try to sip protein all day long. It's hard but I really try. I find that I snack most at night, especially if it's late night in front of the TV and I KNOW it's from boredom and bad habits. Here are some of my snacking foods (I am trying to cut down), 1. Liquid Protein first to see if that takes away the craving - I use Profect Protein Bullets (Blue Raspberry) with Cherry/Pomegranate Crystal Light, or Syntax nectar Fuzzy Navel Protein powder, or Unjury's chocolate Protein Powder 2. Fage Greek Yogurt with Honey 2. Jif Peanut Butter to go cups 3. costco Humms w Skinny Pretzel sticks (only 5) May

Need to unload some things I am feeling
MissMay replied to kristallynn13's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Congratulations! You've taken the first big step in extending your life! You're in control again - don't let other bring you back down! I am feeling 100% better after about 7 weeks (post surgery) of feeling (for lack of a better term) "out of sorts." My doctor said sometimes it takes a good 4-8 weeks for the anesthesia to leave your body. You feel tired, no energy, depressed and you doubt that this was the right move for you. Just hang in there - you'll feel great soon. I was feeling very lousy. You did this for you - to extend your life - to get healthy. Be strong and you can choose not to be friends with these people. You have a lot of folks who will support you on this site. Congratulations on your amazing accomplishments. Keep up the great work! Make sure to take in your liquid Protein, no food cheating and get lots and lots of rest. May -
If you'll have me, I'm in. I'm going to use the October 60 mile challenge to help me with my weight loss goal for the October SCARY Challenge! Monster Mash May!

Reporting in at 158.4. My weight has fluctuated so much this week - up 2, then down 2 and I feel like my appetite is high. I go in next week for my check up and may ask for a small fill. Still only a little walking during the day - just what I do at work and push-ups - - I need to ramp up the exercising. Going to Disneyland with the family on Sunday and Monday so I should get some great miles there! Your Help Needed! Drinks and Tapas Tonight....
MissMay posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Banded on July 22nd and going out with my friends tonight for not just dinner but a "girls night out" to celebrate a birthday which for them is heavy drinking and dancing. I am nervous. Nervous that I'll try to keep up and drink to much or really what I'm afraid of is getting sick from too much drinking. I'm easing into foods and have been good and limiting myself to just one glass of wine, one time a week during dinner but tonight I'm nervous. Any practical advice? Thanks. -

Thanks for all the great suggestions. I'm happy to report back that I received no pressure but was definitely conscious of my drink intake. I survived having to snack by leaving before it got too late and the munchies hit. Instead when I finally got home I had a yogurt. Party on and thanks! May -

Three weeks post-op and dreaming of the days to eat mushy foods and solids (I still have a week out before mushy foods). My doctor has said I won't need a fill because of my current weight loss but I'm nervous that I'll start gaining weight or fall back into bad habits. I'm so hungry lately that I started creating menu choices for meals/snacks and listed the Protein, carbs, calories and fat content for each item. Do you use an online Calorie Counter if so, which one? Or do you use a manual food journal? Has it helped you be more successful? Thanks! May

Just a follow up that I did not feel well before going to bed last night. I had a horrible stomach ache and still have one this morning. Is it the popcorn? Two handfuls went down OK but 5 handfuls? Too much? I think, yes. Moderation and do I really "need" this or just "want" this.
-
I did it. I had popcorn. I'm still supposed to be on mushy foods only (just 4 1/2 weeks post-op) and I made popcorn for my kids then reached in and had some. I then went to my monthly LapBand Support group. Our homework/test before our meeting next month is to go to the movies and NOT have popcorn. Popcorn is a "NO" food on my doctor's list. More popcorn "jumped" in my mouth when I returned home. I was one happy camper but will definitely have to watch it - too yummy.

Cheaters NEVER win! Pre-Op Diet Slip-Up
MissMay replied to MissMay's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi folks - Glad to hear I wasn't in the same boat. I'm now four weeks post-op and doing great. 35 pounds down since I started my pre-op diet. I was losing a pound a day until I started eating mushy foods this week. My scale is now at a stand-still. May -
Cheaters NEVER win! Pre-Op Diet Slip-Up
MissMay posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I decided to come clean to the Pre-Op Assistants to my doctor (Dr. Ellner) last night after I cheated on my 2 week VERY strict pre-op Phase II (all liquid diet). On Day 4 and 5 of 14 (Sunday) - I added peas and carrots to my broth for dinner on Saturday night, I had 2 walnuts and I had five meatballs, Sunday. I fessed up and now I am on hold waiting for my surgery date (originally July 20) to be rescheduled. I am so bummed at my cheating, I'm starving, and I'm listless. My Protein supplements are about 25 g per meal, <4 g carbs and <4 g sugars. I know I just have to move on and the Pre-Op Assistant said no use beating myself up but that we would need to reschedule because it really is about keeping me "safe." I get it but I'm just so mad at myself. I was reading on the site and there are a lot of posts about cheating pre-op and I guess I was hoping it would be OK. Anyone else go through this? So I'm still hoping for a July surgery date. Be strong, May!!!
