  1. I am two months out and at my six week appt I told my doctor that I actually get hungry which I thought would be a negative. He was happy about it. He said that he much prefers me to feel hunger so I will eat than forget to eat.
  2. I was wondering if you can tell me whether your gall bladder went bad after wls? How long did it take to go bad? What were the symptoms? How much weight had you loss? Thanks for any input you may have.
  3. Last night I was thinking about your situation. It occurred to me that maybe something you are eating is causing the sinus stuff. I bet you are allergic to something that is making your sinus cavities inflame. Just a thought.

    Getting Sleeved today

Just felt like getting on today. Feeling great! What is funny is that I want to cook for my family now. Before I didn't want to cook, I guess it was because I knew I would eat it. That is my first revelation. Went to Target yesterday while the triplets were seeing Harry Potter. Walked around and found a belly band in the maternity section. I tried it this morning and I really like it. It helps me keep my incisions tighter but not too tight. Vowed to my girls that I will start wearing makeup again. Will have to check my cosmetic bag to see what I have. I gave up wearing it 5 years ago do to time restraints. Now that my mind is more focused on other things rather than food, I can now spruce up a bit. I have lost twenty lbs total so far. Losing about 1 to 2 a day. Tuesday is my 8th day post op. I can start yogurt and puddings. Have stocked up on them. Found an organic greek yogurt that has 23 grams of Protein. By the way, everyone is referencing a loser's bench. Is that a group or just a status?
  6. Up and ready to go. Just waiting so I don't leave too early then have to sit in the waiting room. Wish me luck!

D day is Monday July 18th

Yes I am a mom of triplets. My husband, the triplets and I are in Shreveport today waiting for "V" day tomorrow. They are having a nice meal while I am posting on this site. lol We are staying at my step son's house. He is in the air force stationed here but is deployed right now. Daughter in law and grandkids are making the best of our stay.
  8. Went shopping today to get some things I think I might need to ease into this new lifestyle. Searching and asking tons of questions to all of my vs friends. Getting good advice. One VS friend even tried to help alleviate my son's fears. She told him her son felt the same way when she decided to get sleeved, but now he is happy she did it. My son still didn't want me to change. Later that day I told him I was doing this so that I could get my cholestrol under control so I won't have a heart attack and die. He said, "Oh!" Well in that case go ahead. I am on the pre op diet and doing well except have had to nibble on a piece of chicken a few times. Stomach is rumbling but not really any hunger pains. My colon doesn't know how to react with only liquids. Keep putting benefiber in my Protein but still very little activity in the bathroom department. I guess that is par for the course. Now I have to figure out what I am going to do with all the extra time with fewer bathroom breaks and eating less. Okay exercise it is!!! Bought some shape wear today. Got lots of advice to wear it to help with the extra skin. A VS friend said she wore hers constantly on her torso and her plastic surgeon told her she didn't need any surgery on her tummy just her arms. I am guessing she lost well over a 100 lbs so that is amazing. Gotta go. Time for my next Protein shake.

  12. Just wanted some input into how some of you cooked for your families after getting sleeved?
  13. Here is my story: At 37.7 BMI, I am only 2.3 points away from morbid obesity which equates to approximately fifteen pounds. My doctor listed two of my comorbidities as being Hypertension and Hypercholesterolemia. My medical history is complicated. As a teenage girl, I was diagnosed with Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome. Thus, that diagnosis is at the heart of most of my medical issues. With PCOS comes obesity, metabolic syndrome, diabetes and infertility. As of yet, I do not have diabetes. I have tried Metformin to control my insulin resistance but was unable to continue taking it due to its side effects. My mother has had diabetes for over twenty years and is morbidly obese. Both of my sisters suffer from morbid obesity. Research has shown that woman with PCOS have a difficult time losing weight and keeping it off. After successful fertility treatments, I gave birth to triplets in 1999. I returned to my hormone therapy after weaning them. I was able to keep my weight under control by using hormone therapy such as Loestrin birth control pills. Unfortunately in 2005, I suffered a STROKE on my fifth cranial nerve. My doctors refused to allow me to continue taking hormones to control the PCOS. Shortly after the stroke, I had to have a tubal. Thus, the battle of weight control begins. Over time, I have steadily increased in weight. At times, I have been successful in losing twenty or so pounds, but would gain it back and more within a few months. Just in the last five years, I have seen a diet doctor in Spring Texas, followed Metabolic Research plan, and most recently, joined Weight Watchers for over a year only to lose eleven pounds. During that year with Weight Watchers, I walked over three miles every other day. Currently I am on my third medication to get my Hypercholesterolemia under control without success. When I am not on these medicines, my levels go into the 300’s. I have used Zocor, Vytorin, Simvastatin and now Lipitor to no avail. I am barely tolerating the Lipitor. My joints have started aching and my cholesterol still remains high. According to Familydoctor.org levels past 240 ml are putting me at into the high risk category for heart disease. The decision to have this surgery has not been taken lightly. I am aware that weight loss surgery is not a cure, but a tool to assist in weight loss. I understand that it requires a lifelong commitment and that my success or failure will depend on my ability to modify my behavior. I have spoken with people who have had the procedure and read information from various publications and websites, including the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery. I have discussed the risks and benefits of weight loss surgery with medical professionals – including my bariatric surgeon and my primary care physician. Based on my history of failure with other weight loss programs, I believe this is surgery will give me the opportunity for a future free of Lipitor and blood pressure medicines. I rec’d approval from my insurance company and my surgery is scheduled July 18th, with Dr. Merriman in Shreveport, LA. I will keep you posted on my journey.
  14. After my July 18th sleeve surgery, my new motto regarding food will be: "EAT TO LIVE! NOT LIVE TO EAT!" I know it is not original but I stil like it.
