  1. Pocono59: I'm scheduled for surgery August 15th and I'm trying to learn as much as possible. In reading your post, how is it that you've been able to loose 80lbs without any fills. I was under the impression the only way to loose weight is by having the band filled. Is that not the case?

    Dilated Pouch

Hi, I'm just learning about the band and associated issues. I'm scheduled for surgery on August 15th but want to make sure I know all possible issues. What causes a dilated pouch and how do you know you have one?
  3. I believe so, although the length of time seems to vary. The purpose of the pre-op diet is so that your liver can be rid of the excess fat, consequently shrinking. Since the liver sits right in front of the area where the band will be place, the doctors will be moving that baby around. Shrinking the liver will allow the doctors to work around it easier and cause less damage to it. Best of luck!
  4. MustangMama: Wow---you and I seem to have a lot in common, from the smell sensitivities to our starting/ending surgery dates (appx). Today I schedule my surgery for August 15th, so on August 1st I'm scheduled to start my 2 week pre-op diet---not looking forward to the experience from what you've mentioned and I've read. I am very excited however to get the surgery done. How much time will you be taken off from work? I forgot to ask that question to my doctor.
  5. I will soon be prepping for my 2 week pre-op diet. Which shakes did you find to be tastier? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Regards,

    PENDING REFERRAL

Hello--I too am just waiting to hear back from the insurance. I tell you, you are not alone...it is nerve wrecking waiting for a response, however, just ensure you read up on your insurance policy requirements. If you have met all their requirements, then their shouldn't be a reason why they wouldn't grant you the approval. So make sure you are in compliance with your insurance policy and the rest should be a breeze. Good luck!
