checking in--ALMOST to halloween goal!!! lovin this sleeve!!!
-
I walked into my moms house today--one week since surgery--and she says--wow-you're face looks so thin--how much have you lost? I about lost it--she never says things like that!!! and by the way, it's 25 pounds whoop whoop
-
I am doing awesome!!! Pre diet started on the 5th--surgery on the 8th--today I am down 25 pounds!!!!! whoop whoop whoop
I had no pain, no problems what so ever---I haven't even needed a pain pill yet!!! I am so happy I didn't back out!!! I have been getting most of my fluids down since day 3--no hunger --I feel great!!!!
-
I had surgery on the 8th with Dr Kelly--I threw up once right after I woke up, then had dry heaves for a few minutes--and that was it!! I have no problems drinking and getting my fluids in. My tummy is not sore, I had no gas pains, nothing. I had bought tons of gas x strips, and mouth spray and all of that and didn't need any of it...
We rented a car and drove home from San Diego to Texas on the 10th--I had no problems with that either. I was a little shaky today, so I broke out the Gatorade again and felt fine after a few sips. I walked our driveway a couple of times today (live in the country so it is long) and felt fine--going to do it again for the next few days to build up and then off I go!!!

i had my surgery on wednesday--i haven't taken any pain pills--i could have easily been back to work by sunday without any problems
-
I booked with Sandy for Dr. Kelly, I'm taking my mom with me as my companion for my VSG. I'm an active "lightweight" (BMI 31), and I decided on VSG after researching plication and deciding it wasn't the safest and most effective option for me. I'd like (ideally) to do one WLS in my life if possible.
Questions for everyone!:
What "hurts" after surgery? The surgical site and your stomach? I've never had organ surgery (but I've had liposuction) and I found I was sore but able to function within a day. What about VSG is uncomfortable and keeps you out of work? Will (likely) I be able to drive the 2 hours back to la after I'm released and rested?
When you were able to excersize or take long walks? I enjoy excersize quite a lot.
Any other low BMIs out there? What were your results like? I hope I lose 1-2 lbs a week, but I'm trying to not set expectations. I know with low BMIs you lose slower, as you have less to lose.
What were the 2-3 days in the hospital (or clinic) like? How out of it, and immobilized were you? Completely hooked up to IVs the whole time, or just simple drains/catheter?
Do you have photos of your scars? I am not
I was sleeved by dr kelly last wed--i really didn't hurt anywhere--didn't even have any gas pain
saturday after surgery--i felt so good--we rented a car and drove from Tijuana to vegas to gamble--sunday we drove from vegas to home (texas) i even drove part of the way--i had a little pillow that i put between my tummy and the seatbelt
i haven't really walked that much yet--i feel shaky from no calories and i don't want to fall
-
I had no pain-no cath--but I had a drain
I woke up from surgery and threw up blood--then about an hour later I had the dry heaves for a few minutes--that was it--I haven't taken any of the pain meds I was given--I don't even think they were putting them in my iv bag (since I never asked for any) I got up about every 4 hours and peed and walked a little--
The nurse came in and asked me to get on my side while I was dry heaving--then she proceeded to hit me on the back--all over--like she was burping me--it felt soooooo good, I am still having hubby do it--although I really haven't even had any gas pains (it just feels good--lol)
I barely got finished taking a deep breath when the drain was out--didn't really feel anything
All I really felt was like I had done some sit ups--that was it--my belly is yellow and purple bruises but they don't hurt either!!
I slept almost all of the next day--then felt fine--we actually rented a car and drove from Tijuna to Vegas and spent the day gambling--then drove to Texas(I even drove some)--all while I was supposed to be in the hotel--I just couldn't lay there anymore--I felt fine, and was bored senseless.
The only problem I have had is that the Dr told me to drink some gatorade every day while on liquids--and once I do, I almost have to be in the bathroom-- (TMI) All that potting made my butt a little sore, so I got some of those moist wipes and diaper rash meds and it is a lot better
Dr Kelly gave me a note for two weeks off work, but I could have went back on Monday after having the surgery on Wed.
As you can see, everyone is really different

well, after being scared to death for a few weeks, I made it to Mexico, and got sleeved. I was supposed to stay in the hotel for two days, but just couldn't lay around anymore, so we came home early. I FEEL GREAT!!! I am having no problems getting my Water down or taking my pills. I am really glad I went through with it--now, on to loosing!!!
-
I ordered some 2 oz cups with lids from tupperware--i think they are gonna be great!!!
-
ok--so I leave for Tijuana in the morning--I am currently packing--I thought I had calmed down a little for the last week from all the nerves, but the nerves are back!!!! I have spent the day with my elderly mom--and now I am thinking things like how much she needs me--and things like that--oh man--if I hadn't already paid...
Anyway, I am leaving tomorrow--surgery is first thing Thursday morning--pray for my nerves to settle down a bit--talk to ya'll when I get back
-
you're a HOTTIE!!!!! congrats on overcoming something so awful!!!

my post last week was called "backing out" everyone on here let me know that these fears are normal--i feel much more "settled" with my decision now...i hope you get there too
-
i got to read the results of my psy eval the other day---she was looking to see if i had realistic expectations, if my life was calm right now, and what the chances were that i would sue if something went wrong...
interesting to see what she wrote about me, we worked on our masters together eons ago...i think i made higher scores than she did...
-
the cheaper price on dr kelly's page is actually for another surgeon at a different facility--without the hotel to recover in--it is a group house--mine with dr kelly is $5500 and includes two night in hospital and two night in hotel--plus you can stay in the hospital the night before surgery free if you wish--
i don't know why some of the others are more--i just know about this

good luck to a fellow september sleever!!!

my 'kids' are all in their twenties--that's why I feel like this is the perfect time for me--I am an empty nester
mini goal: daughter graduates from college in May
one year goal: is my daughters wedding-- (well--really 13 months from surgery--but close enough)--she tells me she is scared what i will show up wearing if i am at goal--roflmao
-
butterfly needles do it for me--if they will listen to me when i tell them where--they hit it the first time--
-
Thanks everyone sooooo much!!! I am feeling better now --still scared--but not completely freaked out!!!
I am going to do it--I just hear so much negative stuff--if I had it to do over again I would keep my big mouth shut!!!! I DO know a lot more than all those negative people--they DON'T know all about ALL the different WLS --I have waited many years for the time to be right to do this--so in less than two weeks I am gonna do it!!!!
I even have to admit, at this time, I am more scared of flying to California than I am about the surgery--I HATE flying!!!!
I am happy to know I am not the only one who freaked out--makes me feel better...
