the cheaper price on dr kelly's page is actually for another surgeon at a different facility--without the hotel to recover in--it is a group house--mine with dr kelly is $5500 and includes two night in hospital and two night in hotel--plus you can stay in the hospital the night before surgery free if you wish-- i don't know why some of the others are more--i just know about this

good luck to a fellow september sleever!!!
-
ok--i got my date september 8th with Dr Kelly--I have been wanting this surgery for several years now--finally convinced hubby--got the money together and am ready to go...NOW I am so scared I am shaking and sitting here crying. I am actually thinking about backing out--I don't know what I am doing. I have a great hubby and wonderful kids--what if something happens? I don't have to have the surgery...Why am I doing this to myself--I guess I could exercise and watch what I eat--I guess it really doesn't matter if I loose weight or not--I have a great life at this weight--I don't know what I am doing to myself...
-
my 'kids' are all in their twenties--that's why I feel like this is the perfect time for me--I am an empty nester mini goal: daughter graduates from college in May one year goal: is my daughters wedding-- (well--really 13 months from surgery--but close enough)--she tells me she is scared what i will show up wearing if i am at goal--roflmao

butterfly needles do it for me--if they will listen to me when i tell them where--they hit it the first time--

Thanks everyone sooooo much!!! I am feeling better now --still scared--but not completely freaked out!!! I am going to do it--I just hear so much negative stuff--if I had it to do over again I would keep my big mouth shut!!!! I DO know a lot more than all those negative people--they DON'T know all about ALL the different WLS --I have waited many years for the time to be right to do this--so in less than two weeks I am gonna do it!!!! I even have to admit, at this time, I am more scared of flying to California than I am about the surgery--I HATE flying!!!! I am happy to know I am not the only one who freaked out--makes me feel better...

my husband told me he didn't want me to loose the weight because he didn't want me to leave him--I was shocked that he felt that way. He said once I am skinny I will probably have affairs and he will have to fight men that look at me--it has taken a lot of talking to get him comfy with my surgery. Sometimes, I think the only thing I can do is prove him wrong. Time will show him that I have no intention of all his fears coming true, Be patient, we are making big changes and our spouses know if affects them too!!!

ok--i am pretty much done shopping--we live several hours from most stores so i wanted to have plenty of everything... cup warmer baby spoons and forks sippee cups laxatives gas x strips Vitamins Iron b12 heating pads small pan tons of broths, Soups, Jello, etc several kinds of nectar (lactose intolerant) crystal light those things that make it where you can make your own popsicles from crystal light 2 oz containers 2 oz shot glasses bullet tums prilosec etc made a months worth of meals and froze them for hubby got all my prescriptions filled, dog shots, etc so i don't have to "go to town" for at least a month after surgery also, downloaded several new books to my kindle for my reading pleasure going tomorrow to pick up my new exercise bike woohoo
-
I am scared of the surgery itself--everyone I talk to starts talking right away about people who have died from this surgery--all my family keeps saying things like, what if you die, what about your family, things like that-- I am not afraid of the changes it makes to what I eat, I am not afraid of the pain of surgery, I am just afraid of not waking up-- I paid my deposits, so no backing out now, I am just terrified...

for those who went to Mexico... What did you do for follow up appointments? What did you do when you had questions? What did you do when something went wrong? (if it did) I am supposed to be sleeved in September by Dr Kelly and am getting a little nervous about doing it so far away

tjharmon replied to Shellybellyrelly's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
quit date is a week after starting--i didn't do it that way, i just took the pills and that was it--i didn't set a quit date or anything--it just happened --my month supply was finished off when hubby took it to quit--daughter got her own and shared it with her sister in law who also quit i know youare not supposed to share meds--but that is what we did and it worked -

I Quit Smoking Today!
tjharmon replied to Shellybellyrelly's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
i smoked more than 2 packs a day for 25 years--i started taking chantix and had stopped within a week (I didn't even notice for a day that i hadn't smoked) lol that was almost 2 years ago--i want them sometimes but it passes really fast. i didn't go crazy or nothing. it was so easy on everyone that my daughter and husband quit a few weeks later. I can't stress enough how easy it was to quit on it!!! good luck!!! -
i totally agree!!!! i had a total of 7 pounds taken off each breast!!! i would NEVER NEVER NEVER consider having them made bigger---i may not have nipple sensation, but I haven't worn a bra in a long long time and no one ever knows!!! i absolutely love not having any!!

ok--so after lurking here for about 6 months--time to introduce myself... it took me about a year to convince my hubby that this surgery is safe...finally accomplished that!!! found a surgeon--dr barker in dallas--started the 6 month program(three months ago)--have had quite a few of the pre op test done too--NOW have found out my insurance is not going to cover it--SO... talked to christi--i think I will be going to Mexico towards the end of September for Dr Kelly--I am VERY excited and ready to get on with this, just a little nervous...I sure wish I had my camera out when i told hubby i was going to mexico... he tells me he is going to go with me , so he can bring my body back... I don't know what I am gonna do with that man!!!! I am a little nervous, but time to get on with it!! I am 43 years old, live in Texas, I have three grown kids--two girls, ages 26 and 22 and a son age 25--I love my yorkie!!! I figure this is a good time since I am retired, and have no one to be responsible to except my hubby and our business. My youngest daughter is getting married and graduating college next May so I am hoping to be WAY down by then!!!!
-
i have bcbs of illinois--BUT they are really only administrators for our insurance--which is actually self insurance by my hubbies work--they cover the lap band but i refuse to get that!!! so you just have to check around with what ever insurance you have
-
I had 2 breast reductions about 12 years ago--(first time was not enough!!!) I lost nipple sensation, BUT I still get a tingling underneath and around the nipple when hubby is doing everything right , so it is not as bad as it sounds!!! I actually prefer this over the way it was originally, it feels better--plus, I was able to get nipple piercings without blinking an eye!!!

Ok... so I'm putting my business in the streets
