How open were you about getting sleeved?
tjharmon replied to cacilluf's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I didn't tell anyone before surgery except hubby and kids--but after I had lost about 40 pounds in the first two weeks--I started telling people. Now I even post about it on facebook. Several people have called and asked for more information on the surgery since I have had such good results. I just walk away from negative comments and think to myself that " I will show them" -

Experts - Does it go away? Get easier?
tjharmon replied to Soon2BMiniMommy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
i was told for the first 6 weeks to measure everything and not rely on my body to tell me it was full--i did it for about a month--now i know by looking if it is the right amount--plus i know three bites is plenty and four will make me miserable--i also sneeze when full or when i take to big a drink. be sure you are taking your acid reducer to avoid feeling hungry--i haven't been hungry since surgery and am really loving it!! you have to get over the head hunger!!! it is hard but every time you reach for food ask yourself if you REALLY want it or are you bored, stressed, etc. if you do that consistently you will be able to tell yourself that it is only head hunger and it will stop-- -
Well--tomorrow is two months since surgery--and WOW what a two months it has been!!! I was so scared to have this surgery--but it has been the best thing I have ever done!!! I am down 55 pounds and have went from a tight size 24 to a nice fitting 14/16. My knees feel wonderful!!! I walk 3 miles a day and have tons of energy!!! I had a stall that lasted for three weeks, but the scale started moving again, so I am happy!! I'm no sure what broke the stall, but I am happy it started moving again. I am learning to deal with jealous people (slowly) and learning to be comfortable in my own skin (taking longer). I can eat anything (except sweets)--which I didn't need anyway--My restriction is about three bites--(thanking God everyday for that kind of restriction) I can't drink Protein Drinks (the smell makes me gag)--but I am getting as much as I can from food. I can drink tea and Water all day long-(most days) I have gave most of my old clothes away ad been gifted a bunch of new ones yippee Now, on to onederland and single digit clothes!!!!!

two months!!! whoop whoop
tjharmon replied to tjharmon's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I don't know about anyone else--my "want" is still there for the bad stuff--but once I get it in my mouth--it doesn't taste very good--so I usually spit it out--I hope it is retraining my body to not want it any more--who knows-- I also have dumping, so they really don't seem to be worth the trouble. the jealous people are interesting to deal with--my whole family are really big women--they don't have insurance and can't afford to pay for it on their own--they just keep making little comments like--"oh yea, you are looking good, but anyone could that had surgery" "you took the easy way out" etc, you get the idea--some of them I am ignoring and some of them I am confronting--depending on who it is and what they say. I am really working on getting right in my own head and my own skin--maybe then the comments won't bother me so much... -
At 2 months out, how much could you eat?
tjharmon replied to emily_0192010's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
I am two months out tomorrow--I can eat about three or four bites of whatever--about 1/4 of a hamburger is a good example I don't measure my food anymore--I just know three or four bites is it--I drink pretty much normal now--your tummy will let you know if you are drinking too fast--but, all in all, I am pretty much normal now--just don't eat much!!! -
