Exactly one year to the day after I joined this forum July 18th, 2010, I purchased my ticket to fly to Mexicali for weight loss surgery. I didn't know that until just now. I am scheduled for the Vertical Sleeve procedure July 29th, with Dr. Aceves. I am starting to get very nervous.

I had my surgery with Dr. Acheves exactly one month ago on 7/29/2011. I am down twenty pounds from surgery and thirty-one from my high. I look better and feel better and look forward to losing much more. I am very happy that I did this.

UPDATE: I have been away from these boards for a few months. No problems, just enjoying my new life being down 70 pounds. I am feeling good, take less meds and actually feel graceful at odd moments. Good luck to those embarking on this journey. I was older, 63. Very, very worth the effort, at least with my surgeon Dr. Acheves. Don't go to the cut-rate TJ places unless you absolutely have to for financial reasons. Email me if I can be of help to you.

UPDATE: 1/1/13

Now sixteen months out, down ninety poinds, 25.3 BMI. Look great (well, a lot better anyway), feel GREAT. I don't have high blood pressure, pain or swollen legs. Haven't exercised ONE BIT, except waving my arms around from time to time. Just wish I had know about this ten years earlier. The change in my own self sense and respect is really remarkaable. I like myself in the mirror again, first time in a LONG tine.
