Weight Training After The Gastric Sleeve Surgery?
Geeewhy replied to OilSooner's topic in The Guys’ Room
I did the first 3 or 4 weeks, but my energy and stamina have really come back strong since about week 4. I've not been lifting, but I do swim and there is a noticeable difference than a few weeks ago. -
Odd Or Normal? How Was It For You?
Geeewhy replied to Veda's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Your experience is pretty much exactly like mine was, except my surgery was not outpatient. Enjoy it while you can, because restriction WILL hit, and if you're like me you won't be ready for it because the first 2 stages (all liquid, soft foods) were so easy. Now, I'm lucky if I can get down more than a couple oz's at a time of solid food. But I'm not complaining -
Happy belated 2 month "Surgiversary"! What a great ride it's been so far. Today I joined the Century club... I'm down 100.2 lbs as of this morning. Stats: Weekly loss: 2.2 From Sept 20 (Surgery): 55.2 From Sept 7 (Pre-op): 77.2 From May (official start): 100.2 Weekly loss average: 7.0 lbs. BMI - 44.2 (down from 56.6) % of extra weight lost: 40.9 % of total body weight lost: 21.55 I could not be more happy :smile1: How's everyone else doing?

Can you describe your journey (pre-op, post-op or goal)......

Thanks Favoredone! Still have a long way to go, but I feel 8000% better already. -

Smartest thing I have done. -
By the way... Hey everyone! Live in St. Augustine but work in Jacksonville. Had my sleeve done September 20 and have been loving the results. If I haven't missed it, I'd love to have a get together of some sort!
-
Hi Michelle, Sorry I'm just seeing this. I was sleeved by Dr. Webb on September 20th and could not be more pleased. I guess you've met him by now, so you already have an opinion, but I've been happy with Dr. Webb and Novus Both. I'd be happy to answer any questions I can.
-
Ha... well they were all roughly the same size. What's getting me is how I'm running through belts. I didn't take any inches measurements pre-op, but I can tell by the number of holes I'm going up on my belt that I've lost a lot of inches in my waist. I'm very happy with that

Panda, That's great! You'll be at your first goal in no time.

2 Months and Counting... Wishes
Geeewhy replied to wishes's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Wow, you're doing awesome! I was just about to send you a note congratulating you on 2 months. Good job on the loss so far, and as Dr. Web tells me every time he I see him, "the best is yest to come"! -
That's great, Panda. Maybe your body is just playing catch-up. I've had to retire 5 pairs of pants, 2 different belts and couple shirts. Even though I've lost less the last 2 weeks than any of the other weeks, I feel like my body has changed more in those weeks than the weeks of the big losses. Ter, are you off just liquids now or just venturing out on your own? A salad sounds so good to me right now... maybe that's what's for lunch!

9 months post op with 220lbs gone
Geeewhy replied to Paul11011's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Wow! That is an incredible "rebirth". Here's to hoping I have your same experience! -
I haven't tried chicken in a casserole or anything yet... my experience has been smoked chicken breast, but I've tried to use some BBQ sauce to make it go down easier. I AM able to get seafood down pretty good though... ate about 4 oz of shrimp for lunch today.. I think that's my personal record for anything solid, post surgery

How long off work?
Geeewhy replied to CJinMichigan's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had my surgery on a Tuesday and was back at work the following Monday. Had no issues other than feeling very tired by the end of the day. If you're not in pain, there should be no issue. -
6 weeks? Math isn't my strong suit, but I think it's 5 weeks... right? in answer to your question, I'm still struggling with eating real food. Can't get down more than 1 to 1.5 oz's of chicken before I start feel the restriction. I can eat stuff with sauces pretty well, like Chili or spaghetti sauce, but not by itself. Went and played golf last weekend and had a bad episode... Ate too little and my blood sugar was bothering me, so I got a hot dog and ate it without the bun. I got it all down, but I think I got it down too quick. Was absolutely miserable for about 20 minutes. Was nauseous, broke out in a cold sweat and thought I was dying. Lesson learned! How's everyone else doing?
-
So.... you're saying you're available? Kidding . If you're doing the right things, and eating like you're supposed to, the weight will come off eventually. Plus, it looks like you've already lost 66 lbs? That's something to be proud of!
-
I'm sure yours will pick up Panda... or even if it doesn't, you're steadily losing. Slow and steady wins the race, right?
-
Well no wonder you're losing slow... You're almost home! Congrats to you, Ter!
-
So how much are you down from when you originally got the lap band?
-
Thanks! Again though, 30 lbs for you is nothing to sneeze at. I'd wager you're much smaller than me already. I'm getting spoiled, so it will be much harder for me to deal with the slower loss when I get there. See? Y'all have an advantage on me
-
82 total, starting in May. 23 before the pre-op, 22 on pre-op, 37 post surgery. My secret is really simple... be a man and be really heavy to begin with
-
BTW, happy 1 month surgiversary to all you fellow 9/20'ers!
-
Thanks! That just means I was in a lot worse position than your from the start! I'm shocked at how quickly it's come off... but I expect to hit the brakes sometime soon. In my opinion, as long as the trend is downward, I'm happy. You've lost 27 lbs...that's nothing to sneeze at!
-
Hey - I was sleeved on 9/20/2011, and I am shocked and amazed how easy the whole thing has been. My only regret is not doing it years ago. I'm down over 80 lbs from high, and I'm still losing 8-10 lbs per week. I know it will slow down, but I sure am enjoying the tumble. drReynolds, you'll be pleased with how little it affects you wit the social aspect. I've just gotten on regular solid foods today, but I've had no issues with eating out or anything like that. I eat Soup, and when I feel restriction I stop and ask for a to go cup. Rarely does anyone notice or ask about it, but when they do, I just say I just don't want to eat anymore. Settles the issue every time. I've not had an adult beverage, and I won't for a while. Anyway, proud to be one of you... a loser

Just stick to soup or chili, and don't expect to get more than half the serving down.
